      Waiting is exactly what I would advise. There are a select few builders that are always the "first" to build. Continue to wait and for some of the "average" or "standard" customers to build and provide comment. Then study all of it and make a decision.

  • @phillbarlow1

    Very smart move using the Daytona as the base. Carol Shelby did the same thing in developing the GT40 way when. But this new technology is super. All Factory Five cars are highly desirable and when I visit their site I get a Chronic Case of Want . I live in the Philippines and getting them here is a hard process due to Government Red Tape Crap. I wish factory Five would look at with an individual getting kits here at a reasonable price. Plenty of highly cashed up individuals here.

    • @factoryfive
      @factoryfive  5 лет назад

      Since we are starting with the same chassis as the Type 65 Coupe, there's a chance a 6'7" person can fit in the new supercar, but since things are still in development, we don't have a definitive answer on that yet. Customers up to 6'6" have fit in our Gen 3 Coupe, so at 6'7", you're on the taller side of fitting comfortably in there.

    Good to see. But sometimes faster isn't better.
    This is why carrozzeria - like Bertone, Pininfarina, Zagato - is a thing that is much more valued than a generic design studio.
    They get inspiration from art, music, life in general. And that's what makes a collectible supercar. That people pay premium for.
    Your customer wants to know, that you worked long and hard to make this exclusive product. So VR is only part of that design.

    My thoughts on your ideas. You can skip all that metal sub & whole frame stuff and trust your new found 3D design surface geometry & 3D rendering(just get better with it). As far as body panels go forget sculptured maching and go to Stratasys's old(off patent now cheeper$) Ultem1010 or Ultem 9085(Polyetherimide{PEE}). Use this in 3DP's WorkBench Series #400 3D Printer to print 6mm. thick outer body panels covered and sealed in Carbon-Fiber. That printer is about 40 to 50k depending on multiple extruders and enclosesure options. Been eye ball to eye ball with this. The model #400 can print 59" on the "X"axis, 39" on the"Y" axis, and 27&3/4" on the "Z"axis. Sure thats big, but out of the box thinking, can get printings 115" long or longer. Here is how: I will use 3" of print lenght in sandwhich/finger joinery connecting 2 printings(or more) with a special connector at each corner of printings. After determining depth and aim of these connectors in composite panels you can attach printings at 250kg.s pull each connector. Cool thing is a simple to connect or disconnect just can be forward or reverse on your pistol drill. THIS IS Invisible detachable joining "Invis Lamello" store.swissinvis.com/ . See some RUclips videos of these in action. Composites 101 says it's not so much the joinery or materials that give strenght to your final product, it's curing, thickness, many factors for you doughters. Invis Lamello's connectors come in 8mm.,12mm., and 30mm.(1&1/8" can easily attach sub frames to monocoque chassis). I use www.compositeenvisions.com . Burton Precision ph# 616-784-1756 deals in many 3D printers and optical/lazer scanners. They have a very cool portable robotic arm magnetic base scanner that could allow someone to simply weld two handles on a scrap piece of heavy metal and use this scanner on site at outdoor auto shows to instantly show potential customers changes in their rides while they view it live on your laptop.

    There is a reason every OEM uses clay full scale models as part of the process. Poly/Sub-d modeling does not capture the subtle nuance needed to create truly beautiful automotive surfaces. For the love of god hire a creative designer, and 2-3 clay sculptors. VR does not replace, it augments the traditional tools.
