is this Japanese broadcast company? They did not even win gold medal.
I heard somewhere that the crouching start was influenced by the crossover of inline skaters into speed skating about 10 years ago. Many of the athletes who use it were either former inline skaters or picked up on it from those that were. I don't know if there's an advantage over the traditional standing start.

Finland dude totally screwed up his 2nd race and that cost him a medal.
Interesting how some of the skaters here chose a crouching start over a standing start. Could this crouching start become standard in the future?
