    Everyone is engaged in some kind of a battle. We never really know what people are battling. All we can do is treat ourselves with great kindness and extend that kindness to others. Thank you for taking care of yourself. You are precious to us. 💕💕

      That is not true, there are plenty of happy people who have no struggles, I have many friends that are very happy and they are grateful to not have my problems. (Or those of others.) the only way to think is to try to be happy for them, but saying everyone has their struggles” is simply not true.

But I’m very grateful to have managed to be happy in spite of my difficult journey and even more thrilled to have helped many along the way. 💕💕

      I get you. It's not helped by the fact that instagram/ you tube and the other platforms constantly show people living their best life. It dishonest and triggering. I think the only thing we cn do is like you say try to be happy for them I(fake it til you make it, can work and make you feel happier) or just dont interact physically or on the internet with those that trigger feelings of struggle. Youre not alone though know this. @@stephanie-fh5qv

      This. I think I always come back to her because it’s like I’m just hearing a friend talk over the phone. Even though she’s living a very different lifestyle to me, I feel like she grounds ME by reminding me of what life can be like one day. Simple, elegant, beautiful.

    When I started my womanly journey in 1963 ( 14 years ) my periods were unbelievable . I would stay home from school for 2 days with tea and a hot water bottle and aspirin. Skip over to my hysterectomy 1997 after 2 children no more pain but hormone replacement was needed and taken . So good for me. Thank goodness you young ladies have more information on this.

    I also had the same symptoms years ago and some how after I gave birth it got better! I never got diagnosed but I noticed on my own the relation between my mood and my thoughts and my cycle. Once you figure out that all those bad thoughts are caused by your hormones you have way more control of your mood.

    Dearest Lyd, I have written you several times, but each time to tell you how very proud of you I am. This podcast is one of the best ones yet. Why? You are addressing women's issues regarding the menstrual cycle. What a down to earth talk you had with your subscribers. You weren't embarrassed, you were straight forward all the while sharing your experiences. You reiterated that this was your experiences but I'm sharing and learning with you. You were excited that you had a female gynecologist which made you more relaxed and knew that she could understand more so than a male. I'm 72 years old and that was what was available to me during my period years. I want you to know that I had to force myself to be comfortable as well as Sterling myself to speak up when he didn't fully understand what my body was telling me. It was hard to translate my body messages to a male. There were times that I was dismissed vice listened to. I'm so happy you can talk woman to woman and Lord knows she is understanding you. Your choice of trying a more holistic approach in healing is a great choice while keeping other choices on the table. I like that you keep all choices available and that makes you a Boss Babe. I was called a difficult or militant woman. Lol On the contrary, I had been told by my parents to always stand up for yourself. I'm so glad you are doing the same. I don't know you personally, but Lydia you have remained the same in your heart but have grown in maturity. You will be a beautiful 72 year old. Lol I think just like your Grandmother

    I have been experiencing some very similar symptoms during my periods and my friend told me that she thought that I might have PMDD too! I've got my Gyno appointment booked and everything but it is sooo nice to see you Lydia talk and be so open about this! I am 24 about to be 25 and have watched you since I was a teen and have looked up to you! It means the world to me that you would share this because I know it is not an easy one to talk about bc this stuff can be hella scary! So I just want to say thank you ♥️

    You did nail the explanation of PMDD and you are right in that approaching it from lifestyle and dietary alternations will be very supportive for you. A nutritional therapist/functional medicine practitioner can help you with exactly that. I am one for context. I’d love to see you talk about toxic free products because of how much they disrupt our delicate hormone balance. Well done to you for advocating for your health 💜

    Lydia, I love watching you and love your honesty and bravery in putting your story out there. I have MS and when first diagnosed no one could tell from looking at me how sick I felt or how much pain I was in. I have never, would I ever place my pain or hardships above another. I have always said a hardship is a hardship. Now with limited mobility I see the look in people's eyes when they look at me and I very much dislike the pity. I don't need it and don't want it, also I understand when people feel they need to hold back from me because they don't want to upset me but I just want to tell you from little old me....please don't hold back if you really want to share because you have built up and amazing, caring community here and you've helped me and I'm here for it! The good, the not so good and the bougie❣ Love from Canada🍁

      Absolutely 👏 Im a lady living with cancer and say this to my friends quite often. Whatever it is it’s still something they are struggling with we should never compare.
      Lydia doesn’t know this but many of times going through chemotherapy year after year she brings me so much joy watching her vlogs during those unpleasant moments.
      I wonder how many women could finally go to there GP to talk about something they’ve had on their minds through watching Lydia vlog this evening🙏 xx

    Thank you for sharing Lydia. Diagnosed 2 years ago. I found magnesium, rose bud tea, changed diet, better sleep, monthly massages and sunshine are a few of the things that helped with my PMDD. I chose not to take any medication. Mood fluctuations in my cycles aren’t as frequent nor as severe and haven’t had suīcidal thoughts for almost a year now. All the best with your health journey.

    I wish you so much luck of your health journey! It’s great how you’re learning about your body and health. Also, I want to remind you not to minimize how difficult your hormonal health has been for you. A difficulty 2 weeks out of the month, is 1/2 your life! That’s a lot! I’m so sorry you’ve had to go through this! And, with that, you’ve been able to be a successful business person as well! 👏🏾 Whatever it takes, I hope you get the health and balance you deserve!

    Good luck with your health issues, Lydia. I started to go through menopause when I was 38. It was a blessing not to get my period every month, I felt so much healthier. It was wonderful to see your garden center with plants outside. Unfortunately, we won't see that for a few more month in Massachusetts. I am itching to get some of my house plants outside, they do so much better than in the house. Loved the hotel room you stayed in, so cozy and pretty. The pearl bracelet was lovely.

    Stage 4 Endometriosis warrior and Advocate here.
    The only way to get an offical diagnosis for Endometriosis is via a laparoscopy, a laparoscopy can be done at anytime and definitely does not need anything to show up on scans for you to qualify for one. Endometriosis often does not show up on any tests or scans.
    I would recommend seeing an Endometriosis Specialist, unfortunately many gynaecologist don’t specialise in endometriosis and can often spread misinformation. There is so much misinformation that surrounds Endometriosis, hence the reasons I advocate so hard! I hope you’re able to get some answers and relief soon. Period pain that stops you doing normal day to day activities, sending you to the hospital and leaving you in crippling pain is not normal and definitely needs to be further investigated ❤️❤️

      Warrior right here with you.💛I had my second surgery in December. It had grown up to my liver. I made the decision to get rid of ‘’Belle” it was a hard decision, and I know it’s not a cure, but I’m ok with it now. My only thing now is making sure it does not come back to my bowels. So scans every 6 months. The endo had wrapped itself around most of my organs, mostly my bowels within months of my first surgery. Ablation in May and Excursion and the end to my monthly subscription in December.

      Stage 3 warrior here, as well. In 5 years I had 5 surgeries, including a hysterectomy at age 30. As previously mentioned by others, a hysterectomy is not a cure and is a decision that is made with your family, your doctor, and with many details of your individual situation taken into account. It is a terribly hard/emotional choice at any point, no matter what, but is especially painful in a different way when you are very young. However, it can also be a positive. 5 years later I feel good and am still glad I made that choice for myself and my family. @emiliavictoria thank you so much for including the correct information for getting a definitive diagnosis and how to find a practitioner that is best able to assist. 💛💛

Just know we appreciate you and care about you also, and even if we are going through something that we may feel is worse it doesn’t take away from what you are going through. Everyone deserves to be heard and validated, and it’s real eveyones one situation for them. No one should judge another we don’t walk in others shoes. Each persons experience is there’s. We support one another. Thank you for providing this community always and for your care and consideration of how you present all of these topics. I have followed you from the beginning of your channel and I’m so grateful for you. Be gentle on yourself, you work so hard always, you are so good. You do not have to be perfect. This is a beautiful discussion to have. Let’s lnot judge one another life can be hard for all, let’s learn together. One thing I will share is endometriosis for me was only diagnosed during an emergency surgery and doctors looking through Camera inside - never was seen on internal exam or scans . ❤🤗💫

    As someone who suffers with atypical endometrial hyperplasia and PCOS it is refreshing to hear someone talk about lifestyle changes in an effort to better your health. it is something im working on also to help with the PCOS, losing weight and taking better general care of myself and what i put into my body and its lovely to hear someone else doing/planning on doing the same thing. We all have our battles and as women we should all be helping one another.     Dear Lydia, thanks for sharing your diagnosis and approach to healing. It is absolutely essential to Watch not only what we eat but also what we put on skin and hair! I have been trying to only use natural oils, clean skincare and makeup and avoid buying food in plastic products as well as clothes made of polyester. Our skin is our biggest organs and it absorbs everything we put on it and everything it comes in contact with ❤ you are starting a beautiful journey that will bring healing to you and your audience 😍

    Ayurveda is such an interesting topic. Everytime I come back from India, i feel so inspired. To the topic of chemicals, I read that washing powders and softners have hudge influence on endocrine system. it is worth to look at it. Deodorants, lotions, conditioners, it all absorbes through our skin to the blood. Less is more ladies!♥

      I changed from sanitary towels to underwear and it's made a world of difference! Every month I'd be in so much pain, wanting to vomit and feel like someone had their hand inside me and was churning everything up! I just wish I had them 10 years ago!!

    It took a very long time for my Husband, his Dr's, other specialists, to go about the process of elimination with food, supplements, etc., to determine a correct diet for him, that would eliminate the use of insulin, taking food out for a period of time, then reintroducing it back in to see adverse reactions, then removing if necessary. This was achieved, wonderful to not have to use chemicals in order to stay well, sometimes you just need to start the journey with food. Good for you Lydia, intelligent people will always question, not just throw the hands up, giving in because it's easier. You've come along way, working hard on yourself to dismiss the naysayers and criticism so unnecessarily hurled at you. Good luck my dear

    After losing my best friend to bowl cancer I changed my lifestyle to a non processed diet & also chemical free detergents.Years ago it was not so easy to get but now we have a wider range.
    I am blessed to not take pain killers or medication instead drinking more water,walking daily & adding seasonal Vegetables & fruits.

      Also filtering your water is probably the first thing to do for your health. Never drink tap water, it's full of toxic chemicals, birth pill residue, chlorine which depletes your gut from good bacteria and so other nasties such as heavy metals...

    Thank you for being open about your journey with your PMDD diagnosis. I highly suggest I have it too, but I’m super overwhelmed on how to manage it. I do have some more health struggles which make it a little complicated to juggle everything. So I’m very happy to follow your journey and maybe find something to try to improve my quality of life and also just having comfort from seeing someone else talk about it.
    PS: for Sausage harnesses maybe look into the the Tough Trail Harness from Pawsome Paws Boutique. They tick all the boxes you are looking for and are very chic! Y-harnesses are also the best for shoulders and overall mobility/skeletal health.

    Hi Lydia, thank you for always sharing. Your content is a breath of fresh air. I’ve been living with endometriosis for years now. The pain is severe. I’m quickly realizing the only solution will be hysterectomy as nothing else has helped. The pain is crippling and prevents many day to day activities.
    *Edited to say that endometriosis can be difficult to diagnose. The kind I have is powdery and difficult to detect. However, it is the kind that produces the most pain. Laparoscopic procedures do very little for this kind of endometriosis as it is difficult to remove. Endometrial tissue can adhere to organs and nerves and cause widespread pain.

    Hi Lydia, going on the low tox journey is such an exciting discovery, it is impossible for us to live a non tox life as we can't avoid toxins. For anyone new on this journey I would suggest filtering your water (if you don't filter your water, your body will be the filter) your air (candles) and removing fragrances as that is where are lot of toxins are. It is impossible to change everything at once and the easiest way is to try and make a change is when you run out of a product. I have been on this journey for more than 10 years and I am still learning every day. There is a lot of greenwashing out there and many products that are marketed as clean is actually not so clean. I think just having the awareness and understanding/reading ingredients is a great start. Goodluck on your journey, I think it would be wonderful for someone like you to promote clean living and beauty products as that is the way forward. It might be difficult as you support many of the large companies but you could be a real trailblazer. It has opened a new world for me and I am sure you will be very inspired especially once you start making new connections with people who have been on this journey.

      You are right about the candles. I prefer a diffuser with 100% natural essential oils. I do however still burn candles, when I can open the doors or windows.

    Thank you for your openness and honesty. I cried. I had no idea what PMDD was till you talked about it - so I looked it up and suddenly it was like a piece of the puzzle fits. I’m not going crazy twice a month - it’s an actual thing with a name! And I have all the symptoms too.     I think I was the one who mentioned PMDD a while ago in your comments. So glad you got the diagnosis! It (can be) a long journey coming to terms with it and figuring out where to go next in terms of treatment. My only advice is, be open minded about everything that you can use to treat it, both 'natural' and more synthetic hormone treatments. Sometimes diet isn't enough, sometimes supplements aren't enough (or require tailoring). Sometimes you have to choose something you wouldn't have previously aligned with, but it can be worth the risk :) Sending love x

    I have PMDD as well but I am happy to know because I thought I was losing my mind and I finally just told my doctor what i was experiencing so I feel better knowing. I track my cycle now and made adjustments to my diet, exercise, etc. But i do allow myself to relax and take time for myself to feel .. I have prescription for pain and I take it as needed but I have not taken the prescription to help with my emotions because I track my cycle so i know what and why im feeling the way i am and i take a break go for a walk etc to help. We are in this together.

    It's very good of you to realize that people are dealing with different sorts of battles. Your situation is seriously impacting your quality of life, and that is important. I have MS and when I see my neurologist to describe my symptoms, I tend to say "I feel bad whinging about this when other people with MS are so much sicker". She is a great doctor and always reminds me that my situation is just that, and I shouldn't compare myself to others. But if I were speaking to someone with MS who is unable to walk, for instance, I wouldn't go on about my issues. You're very empathetic and you've got this covered! I wish you improvement in your condition soon! 💚

    As someone who suffers from both PCOS and Endometriosis and am in fact going having a full hysterectomy in April, as I cannot have kids, it doesn't hurt me to have you talk about your journey, your journey is your journey. I have been dealing with Hodgkin's Lymphoma (cancer) for the last year and 1/2 and by the time I am done, 2 1/2 years, which even though we were pretty sure I couldn't have kids before the diagnosis, I definitely can't have them now due to the chemotherapy. This is MY journey and it is something I am going through, again, just as your journey is your journey and just as important. It takes a lot of bravery to talk about one's personal journey like that and I am proud (cheesy I know) of you for doing that and I thank you for doing it. When it comes to Ilia makeup, be careful of the foundation, it is VERY oily, which can make it hard to set and it has a tendency to slide around because of it. An alternate (for me) was NARS Light Reflecting Advanced Skincare Foundation. It doesn't upset my very sensitive skin. I was sensitive before chemotherapy, but it is ridiculous now. As NARS is considered a clean skincare brand, I don't mind using it.

    Thanks for todays video.
    One thing that made a difference for my health was (sadly) removing candles and diffusers in my home ( as well as being careful of paint, they cause me rashes on my face). I probably wear perfume 3 - 5 times a year now, for special occassions.
    I know you love your scents, so im by no means suggesting removing completely. However you may find reducing how much you use, will also reduce the toxic load.
    An analogy i use a lot is imaging you have a bucket. Once that bucket overflows, the symptoms surface. Over the years my allergies and sensitivities have got better. So i can consume some things i couldnt before, however only in certain quantities, otherwise it floods my bucket 😂

      Explore unscented beeswax candles because they have good health benefits.
      If you get scented beeswax candles with essential oils - use candle warmers rather than lighting them up.

    I used ILIA for the first time last year and I truly enjoyed it. I have eczema and my skin is so sensitive and I didn’t have any issue with their foundations and blush. It works so well on skin that is prone to drying out. Their mascara is also fantastic! I will say their products smell different then any other makeup I have used but I did not think it smelled bad and once it was on my face I couldn't smell it.

    I just learned I have PMDD by hearing it from Lydia 😮. All my life I have painful periods but recently I started having strange symptoms such as panic attacks, get stressed too easy, and moody so often, have period pain one to two weeks before my period would start. I do not have all of the symptoms for the PMDD (I just looked up) but seems like mine have just started. I am going to see a gynecologist asap! Thank you Lydia for bringing this up. I wish you all the best with whatever treatment you choose🙏

      Explore castor oil and magnesium oil because they help with hormone balance and the effects of unbalance such as heavy bleeding, painful cramps, mood swings, etc ❤.

    I went on a carnivore diet in 2021 to help with my depression, hair loss, period pains, migraines, acne so much more and it cured all of it. Now living a very calm and happy life.❤ Not to say everyone should go carnivore but it is so important to be conscious of what we put into and on our body and you are doing a great thing sharing this with this with others. Also on this health / non toxic journey these past few months and I have to say : non toxic TikTok is a godsend, Stacy Sims’ book Roar has literally all the information any woman might need about her cycle (almost) and Ayurveda is literal ancient wisdom that I would love to be able to practice because it can literally do miracles! From a pelvic health view it could definitely be worth exploring seeing a pelvic health physio to see if any of your symptoms may be linked to your pelvic floor and everything surrounding! ❤

    I was diagnosed a month ago. I cannot tell you how much of a relief it feels to hear someone talking about it out-loud. PMDD is BRUTAL, it really takes a toll. The absolute weirdest thing is that it turns like a clock, literally has a calendar so I know exactly when it’s about to happen and I am never ready. It took years of tracking symptoms every day, so many labs, so many smears (negatives), so many biopsies.
    Please continue to talk about this. It took doctors over 8 years to figure it out, they just saw that I looked healthy and went with that.

    So glad you finally have answers...so many years of struggling during your cycle. Has always be difficult to watch you sidelined in symptoms. ~ I have that "heat" event too. Boiling, flushed plus light headed and dizzy for about 45 minutes when ovulating. Not matter when or what I am doing I have to stop, sit, or when driving, pull of the road and wait it out. Always hits at the most inconvenient time! I do hope you get everything equalized. AND I agree, female office ONLY. Those who go to the other team 😉deserve a major award. XO

    Magnesium oil spray is incredible for those day one period cramps. It’s so easy to pop a paracetamol but now I try to avoid it and rub the magnesium oil over my abdomen and lower back. It does make your clothing a little greasy but just bare that in mind and choose something that you don’t mind some the oil soaking into.

    I have experienced all of that and I only found out about that issue when I watched Vicky Pattison. The weirdest things I would think during the second half of my cycle were very similar, things we don’t want to acknowledge and discuss. Also it’s like a storm would just take over my emotions and I would act badly to my closest people and then regret this after the storm subsides. I have started watching my insulin spikes in the second half of my period. That seemed to help me stabilise my very extreme mood swings. I haven’t had a proper diagnosis yet and I am with you Lydia and all ladies that experience it on a journey of discovering and readjusting. My intuition told me to change my diet first and then the next thing I am doing is getting help from GP.

    You surprise me lydia with your constant efforts to enlighten women with various important aspects. I had endometriosis and had a surgery. I had a highly stressful life and learned to relax bcos our hormones fluctuate as we undergo any stress. So just slow down little bit..breathe. one more personal experience i want to share is take medicine and no ayurvedic medicine is really helpful, I hv never had processed food but still got stuck.     Lydia I love your transparency and believe you are doing a real service to women in sharing your story. Battles are often easier when shared for both parties. So it is very appreciated and I feel very important. I really enjoyed this vlog, it was so lovely. Oh on a gardening note, with your large bucket/tin pots you planted at the front of your greenhouse, do they have holes in the bottom? or do you find that as they are shallow rooting the the do ok without holes and dont rot, etc.

    I’m a great believer in what you eat really affects the body. I’m diabetic and this led to me making changes. I eat a really non processed diet, I’m vegetarian have been for many years and eat a Mediterranean plant based diet.     Thank you for talking about your diagnosis. I didn't even know that condition existed and I am pretty sure I could have it. When you started talking about how you felt during your period I thought "Yes, that's the period". I didn't even think it was something I had to put attention on. The other day I took the chance to talk to some friends about that, and discovered that no, it's not a normal period. I mentioned to them how I have pretty strong suicidal thoughts during that time (I have depression, but the suicidal thoughts come with the cycle). So, thank you so much for opening my eyes.

I struggled with this so much previously - I made similar lifestyle changes & used an app called Yukka to clean up my beauty/food habits. So many things are endocrine disrupters you wouldn’t believe!! Long story short I now have very regular, healthy & bearable periods.     Lydia, I’m so happy to hear you getting checked up and getting help. I went from post partum depression to PMDD, and my doctor put me on a pure progesterone supplement. I think it saved my life. If you can ask your provider about it, it might be worth looking into ❤️ obviously not
    Recommending anything but it can’t hurt to ask.

    I really appreciate your self awareness and ability to articulate it so beautifully - I relate to your approach to lifestyle and diet, I also have PMDD but not officially diagnosed but my approach is very holistic (I am a nurse btw!) and I love and appreciate your perspective of being kind to those who don’t want to be holistic etc … , it is a real shame that your ability to speak so eloquent likely comes from a place of needing to defend yourself against the criticism of the internet at times . I hope we can all be supportive and have compassion and empathy and gentleness towards each other with regard to PMDD and lifestyle changes. If more people took the proactive approach to change their lifestyle (and like you said small changes no one needs to be perfect or take it to the extremes) the NHS and general health of our country would be so much better and therefore more people would feel happier in their day to day life.     I am diagnosed with PMDD. For me it was a relief to get the diagnose and to understand. It might sound silly, but take an antihistamine pill (reactine or similar). There is huge evidence in PMDD cases, that this prevents the block of your serotonin. That in combination with your lifestyle changes should work fine - no need for antidepressants! I think you can do a lot for women with PMDD by talking about it. It’s a rare „disorder“. Thank you for doing so ❤

    I had a shock diagnosis last week, shocked me cause I'm only in my 30's, my gynaecologist gave me the diagnosis of prolapsed uterus 😑 so we are determining weather it's serious enough to have a hysterectomy, I think we as women get very frightened when we recieve a diagnosis that is in reference to our bits but the more we talk about it the more normalised and less scary it should start to be.

    We all start somewhere Lydia, and it is such a beautiful conversation to have. I think we all forget that none of these creams and serums ect weren’t even a thought 100 years ago. In saying that I still love what they have done in a sense of confidence for women but we really don’t need most of it. I myself use tallow cream which I make up myself with Olive oil and essential oils, the most rich body and face cream ever! It literally saved my skin after having eczema so bad I couldn’t walk. I loved hearing this! Also I would focus on cutting gluten first before dairy but that’s just my opinion, again it healed my skin, much love ♥️♥️

    Hi Lydia. I’m so thrilled for you that you finally got a diagnosis. As a chronically ill person. I am all too familiar with diagnosis. Doctors and the unending opinions. So much so. That when I was first diagnosed with my first brain tumour. I very quickly realised that no one was going to advocate for what was most important, except myself.
    So I started pre med.
    I just want to clarify that anything you put onto your skin cannot reach your bloodstream. That would infect be impossible. Not too mention extremely dangerous if it did. So you’re creams and such can go into your skin. Just as when you take a supplement. It is broken up in your GI tract.
    It’s your body. This is your journey. Be patient and gentle on yourself.

    After 16 years of tests and scans at Drs, hospital and gynae dept. I finally got diagnosed with PCOS just over a year ago when I went for fertility treatment. Just like you I’m not the typical PCOS patient as I’m size 4/6 and I always got told if I gain weight it will sort everything out. The diagnosis has finally given me peace of mind but can’t believe it took going for fertility treatment to get answers.

    The book the hormone shift by Dr Bhatia is One of the best books I’ve ever read on female hormones.The book takes you through every decade of a women’s life and explains what’s going on with our hormones at each stage of our life and tells you according to what symptoms you have, which hormones are out of whack. It’s an amazing book for really deepening your knowledge about how your hormones work, and also gives you a jumping off point for conversations with your doctor. Good luck on your journey Lydia, fingers crossed you get some relief from your symptoms 😘😘

    Hi Lydia. They can’t diagnose endometriosis via ultrasound. It can only be diagnosed by laparoscopy x

      Ultrasounds can show large clumps of tissue or scarring that are likely signs of endometriosis. Ultrasounds are very good at identifying endometriosis in your ovaries. But ultrasounds can't show tiny pieces of tissue which are the most common type of endometriosis.

    Mine started after covid vaccine/contracting covid. I had no issues with time of month before this. I thought I was going mad for nearly a year before I put the two together. Light bulb moment 💡

      It became unfortunately very clear only after what a huge impact of those vaccines people would have in a long run.

      There is lots of research coming out on the impact on the female reproductive system. I had the second vaccine because I work for the NHS and we were all told we would lose our jobs if we weren’t vaccinated (which they later rescinded) but I got covid 3 weeks after the second vaccine so I don’t know which one caused it. For me the mental symptoms are worse than the physical and I am the same as Lydia, I get 2 good weeks out of the month if I’m lucky. 😢
