This is true strategic play. I see pro eSports players typically lack this. In dota the pros are high in team coordination but mechanical last hitting, item purchase choices, counter pushing not always there. Welp

Genuine question - why do players attack cannons instead of pylon? Wouldn't it depower their defense and make it easier to kill one pylon rather than 3-4 cannons?
Cannons are 100/100 and pylons are 300/300. Only makes sense if 4 or more cannons, but by eliminating cannons, you reduce their DPS. Also, cannons cost 150 minerals and a pylon is only 100, so you'd much rather them rebuild 2-3 cannons than 1 pylon.
The other problem is, even if you're attacking over four cannons per pylon, focusing the pylon doesn't reduce the damage your units are taking until it's dead, cannons are usually the better choice

I think the only thing that Soma could have done better was use Dark Storm along with those attacks. Rich was just everywhere and ready for everything that Soma threw at him.

I wonder from time to time whether 3rd bases are too defendable, as compared to earlier times. In the days one the One zerg (JZ/SV/JD), they had to fight tooth and nail for their 3rd, but it gradually changed. Now a days its more or less free due to sim city. Like this map has reverse ramp favoritism for the defending part. Do you think the ramps and area are a bit too tiny? The need to 'safe 3rds' really bleeds over in TvPs

Do you ask when you hear about a good ones? College memory is you had to save it after the LAN game. I was, uh, never remotely competitive. 😂
At a guess, those hydras are on hold position, he knows because he poked with his dragoon already. Worst case scenario that DT sees how many hydras are there if there's a ton of extra ones behind, otherwise he escapes with a DT that's going to distract his opponent and give him a lot of information.
my guess is, if you look closely from 09:44 to 09:51, that DT is killing zerg's probe which was going to build a base at those minerals where the DT was standing closer. Even slowing down the base for 20 seconds until the next probe arrives might be worth for such use of DT passing by the hydralisks earlier.

3x more hp on pylon. But in this game clearly was a moment when killing pylon made sense.
Broodwar pylons have a ton of health. I don't actually play myself so I don't know the exact numbers, but it takes way long to get a pylon

While you're trying to kill that pylon, which has 600 health, four cannons are doing crazy DPS to your hydras. It's not a good idea.
