- My cousin Maria Petra Brandal performed her song "Lonely" on The Voice Norway last night. She created a heartfelt musical moment and impressed the judges with her song, which is produced by the talented Oscar Almquist and mastred by Kristian Dørum. I expect to hear more great songs from her in the future. Still remember when we were young and sang The little mermaid together in my tiny studio haha :) Can´t wait to see what the future holds for you Maria, wish you all the best!

This song is seriously well written. The cadence of the lyrics "I'm lonely. For you only. Come hold me." is perfect. And then the way she turns the phrase at the end "I'll gladly stay lonely. If you only. Hold me one last time." is brilliant songwriting.

Espen: Maria Petra, what it happened right now, is that when you stood on the scene and sang for us then the world stopped in a moment. When you sang, then it was like I just was here and heard you singing and touched my heart. And the art of this song, just gave the same feelings like Yosef, Ina, Matoma and the rest of us. Just that you succeed to do that, like talking through a song and forgot everything else with a song you have written for yourself and you just are 20 years, it comes so far that I will say this song is the best song I have heard in the voice blind audition.
Yosef: The best with the music, is when you can be free of thinking. I just had a moment where you just stood there, closing the eyes and when you opening them and watching the chairs turning around, then hearing what's happening inside there and taking yourself back to the place where it gets the world to stop. It was magical.
Matoma: Can I just get allowed to shoot in something, Ehm.... I am.... I sitting alot and working with the vocals everyday, and sometimes so do I get the "Wow" feeling where you just begins to cry and it touching you directed inside your heart. And in the first moment you begin to sing... and.... *signs that it happened*. You are really unique, you are unique.
Espen: You just did touch all our hearts, and now you have to make a choice.

This is a special song. Not many come from out of nowhere and actually touch your heart by hitting that exact spot where it causes a reaction within you. I took me back to a point in my life where I longed for my real mum to just want me. I never knew her but I remember wondering why she chose not to want me. Not many songwriters have that gift of talent to touch people in such a special way. She was amazing! ❤️ songs like this are what help us put words to our emotions and somehow they help us deal with things we otherwise may not.
I definitely can relate to your comment' all my life I always wanted to know why my Dad didn't love me like my brothers 😢 I'm 32 and I still don't know why, I no longer speak with him , that relationship dead and I don't care anymore. And definitely sorry for what you had to go through. 🙏🏾

Honestly, Norway has the best voices ever, and the best judges. I wish there were English subtitles, I would love to understand what the judges said.
i’ve heard this song over and over and it’s beautiful I found that there is a translation by somebody that commented on here if you go up and scroll for pizzagutt from two years ago they give a translation in English.

A collection of auditions from The Voice came up on my feed and it included this one from Maria. It totally floored me, literally bought me to tears. I ended up watching it over and over again and then was Googling around trying to work out whose song she covered. Finding out that it was her own song elevated my admiration for her even more. I know this was a few years ago now, I hope everything is working out for her.

i just found out that when they said her song they really meant it was her song. When i saw her audition the first time which seems like ages ago, and saw how quickly the judges turned i remember thinking "yeah I should hope they turn around, she sounds just as good as the original version" now i know why, she is the original version. like i said i just found out but i have l have been watching her audition video for ever because i love the song, lyrically it is one of the most perfect songs i've ever heard, it's the kind of song that professional song writers and singers spend their whole lives trying to create and most never are able to, you cousins song definitely belongs up there in that special place reserved for people like Adele and Billie Eilish and now Maria Petra Brandal .....

I am from Israel, such a voice and an occupying personality like Maria find one in a million. She is so special, you can not stop hearing her. For me Maria is the big winner and it is a pity that it did not turn out that way but I have no doubt that she will be famous and there will be lots of people waiting for her performances!
