The thing is, i feel that in this moment, the lich knows that he hasnt loss the war. He knows that finn is going to dust him, but knows he'll just comes right back. The lich, IS the end.
Fun Facts about this episode: "Mortal Folly" can mean "a foolish death" or "a fatal and foolish act." This could be referencing how Ice King almost foolishly killed Princess Bubblegum. This and "Mortal Recoil" make the first two part episodes in the series. Ice King was in the presence of the Lich without the protection of Princess Bubblegum's gems. It is implied that he was able to do this because of his crown. When the Ice King says "It's not like you wanna marry her!", Finn can be seen blushing, referencing his crush on the princess. The Lich's lair is in a subway station from before the Mushroom War. Outside the Lich's lair on a pole is the number 81012. The same numbers can also be seen on the right wall as Finn and Jake fall down through the hole, just before Finn grabs the leaking pipe, and right afterwards on the wall directly behind the two. One of the Lich's horns is broken, but it is not broken in Princess Bubblegum's vision. The depiction of himself Finn imagines while meditating appears again as Finn's 28 year old future body in the Adventure Time Comic Issues 2, 7, 8, and 9. Finn can move the six fingers in the gauntlet, but he only has four fingers. The gauntlet and its usage in the episode may be a reference to Michael Moorcock's character Corum Jhaelen Irsei, who at one point possessed an artifact Hand of Kwll. Much like its Adventure Time counterpart, the Hand looked like a jeweled right-hand six-finger gauntlet that could at times act of its own accord, and it was given to Corum to help him avenge his kin and vanquish the Chaos Gods. If you look closely at one of the wrecked subways, one appears to have two jet engines mounted on top of it. This episode and "The Enchiridion!" are featured in the Lego Dimension Adventure Time Level Pack. Episode connections: The plot of this episode is continued in "Mortal Recoil." Iceberg Lake from "Business Time" returns as Finn and Jake pursue The Lich, also confirming it as the location of the Gauntlet dock, which still hangs over the lake. When Billy is shown using his gauntlet in "His Hero," he wears it on his left hand, but it is a right-handed gauntlet in this episode. When Finn pulls back his hat, one can see his blonde hair that has been growing back since "To Cut a Woman's Hair." The Lich's well is shown again in a later episode. Finn's Sweater from Bubblegum is seen again in a later episode. Cultural references: When the Ice King first appears in this episode, he says "Hey hey hey!" the same way as said in the 1980s sitcom What's Happening!! Storyline analysis: The Lich would not have been released if Princess Bubblegum had not taken Finn and Jake to check on the Lich's prison, due to the fact that the snail got there via Finn's backpack; her vision was itself a self-fulfilling prophecy. Production notes: This episode was previously titled "This Mortal Folly" and is listed as such in AT&T U-Verses' description of the episode as well as on iTunes. This episode and "Mortal Recoil" would have been the final episodes of the season prior to the rescheduling of "Heat Signature." The two-part episode is still considered the season two finale by the show's crew and appears as such on the Complete Second Season DVD and Blu-Ray. Errors: When Princess Bubblegum moves to the chest containing the sweater she wants Finn to have, the earring is not present on Finn's head. It returns when she brings the sweater over to Finn. When Finn and Jake are confronting Ice King after he creates an Ice Dome around them, the heart stitches on Finn's sweater disappear. When Finn is going across the water, aiming Billy's gauntlet at the Lich, the gauntlet has 7 fingers instead of 6.

The reason Ice King wasn't controlled is a combination of the power of the crown and the madness the Ice King has as a result of the crowns power
ice king just like nux fr, "FINN AND I DEFEATED THE LICH"
0:15THE GREATEST VILLAIN IN CARTOON NETWORK BOIS!!!!! NIGHTMARE DRUGS!!!
I personally don't think that sweater did anything. Canonically speaking, Finn has inhuman strength and durability due to what is he is.
Embodiment of good
It was either the Crown, Ice King’s Magic Power, or the fact Ice King is so fucking Insane that The Lich couldn’t mess with his head
The "lore" episodes are just as good as the goofy ones in my opinion
15:07 holes are holes
p-holes b-holes a-holes pie-holes
holes are holes
if it fits
it probably belongs there
Ice king - chaotic neutral
Lich - chaotic evil
!7:29 Nux. Ice king is kinda crazy already. Can't really control a crazy person can you? so yeah that the main reason he too crazy to be control yet is also somewhat sane?
If only they used ice king to help against the Lich they would have probably defeat him, just by telling him "Ice king,if we don't defeat that guy, every princess will die and you'll never be marry anyone".
Now imagine being us way back when this AIRED. BRO, THE CLIFFHANGER WAS INSANE.
Welcome Nux.
You are now finally in the REAL adventure time
Hey this isn't the next episode you should be watching that would be
"Heat Signature" which is the twenty-fourth episode in the second season of Adventure Time and the fiftieth episode overall.
And if y'all don't know Adventure Time have episodes out of order either on air or on DVD box set
That's why in Season 1 you see Tree Trunks partying in a cave despite being inside the crystal apple in a previous episode
So ice kings crown is like their gem things, probably answered already. also platonic love can be powerful, says this devoted son.
"How do you kill water" it's comparable to "how do you burn a pool?"
15:52 Bro is so sure of his sexuality that the pp drawing just makes him stronger
Nux: "You mean this is a Lore episode? Boy, I better milk this out with commentaries every 3 seconds of footage 😁😁"
Oh it begins
The fact that the destruction of the Litches body here is a mere inconvenience to him shows the absolutely horrifying creature it really is
LET'S GO I WAS COUNTING THE DAYSSSSS THANK YOU NUXXX
11:42 Bro like "i will ask for consent no more, i'll force the consent"
Man, the fact that this was so edited made it very unwatchable. I didn't really mind the constant pausing of the previous episodes, but on top of cutting a lot of things made it just unbearable to follow through.
GO FREE as he drops bubblegum to her death
Got to be one of the best parts in this show
bruh the editing .... what happened ? there's so many cuts it's giving me a headache. Cmon Nux
the lich for sure has a motive
I have been waiting for this moment.
The thing is, i feel that in this moment, the lich knows that he hasnt loss the war. He knows that finn is going to dust him, but knows he'll just comes right back. The lich, IS the end.
Explaining the Lich's motivation to end all life would reveal spoilers your mind is not yet ready to comprehend.
On that note I didn’t think Betty would have some semblance of her personality in Golb. I thought he would’ve completely assimilated her
14:20 that explosion is also in the title card.
I hope nux watches the remake of this fight one day it’s so well animated
“How do you kill water”
Ask flint Michigan
Has anyone realized that fins arm (the one the lich blew the gauntlet off of) is the same arm he ends up losing later on in the show
He does!!!!!
I was wondering that but forgot we he lost it so couldn’t easily check
Fun Facts about this episode:
"Mortal Folly" can mean "a foolish death" or "a fatal and foolish act." This could be referencing how Ice King almost foolishly killed Princess Bubblegum.
Episode connections:
The plot of this episode is continued in "Mortal Recoil."
Iceberg Lake from "Business Time" returns as Finn and Jake pursue The Lich, also confirming it as the location of the Gauntlet dock, which still hangs over the lake.
When Billy is shown using his gauntlet in "His Hero," he wears it on his left hand, but it is a right-handed gauntlet in this episode.
When Finn pulls back his hat, one can see his blonde hair that has been growing back since "To Cut a Woman's Hair."
The Lich's well is shown again in a later episode.
Finn's Sweater from Bubblegum is seen again in a later episode.
Cultural references:
When the Ice King first appears in this episode, he says "Hey hey hey!" the same way as said in the 1980s sitcom What's Happening!!
Storyline analysis:
The Lich would not have been released if Princess Bubblegum had not taken Finn and Jake to check on the Lich's prison, due to the fact that the snail got there via Finn's backpack; her vision was itself a self-fulfilling prophecy.
Production notes:
This episode was previously titled "This Mortal Folly" and is listed as such in AT&T U-Verses' description of the episode as well as on iTunes.
This episode and "Mortal Recoil" would have been the final episodes of the season prior to the rescheduling of "Heat Signature." The two-part episode is still considered the season two finale by the show's crew and appears as such on the Complete Second Season DVD and Blu-Ray.
Errors:
When Princess Bubblegum moves to the chest containing the sweater she wants Finn to have, the earring is not present on Finn's head.
Finn's burnt hand is foreshadowing.
The Lich laughing is honestly peek fiction
paused more times than i see my father on a daily basis
