Not a super car fan since I haven't grown to like them as much as the cars I commonly see around me. As a car guy though, I can appreciate the fact that this company does what it can to save the parts of wreck cars and sell them to others who also are trying to make sure they're car is nice and stays on the road. Also, that discounted price.
In the US, many auto recycle yards are networked so any part in any yard across the US can be transshipped and picked up locally. I'm assuming that VAT is the main reason for not doing it on a relatively small island like England.
+Angel Kanchev My comment referred to physical size, not political or historical significance. i fully appreciate the contribution thtat England has made, for better or worse to the advancement of western civilization, the chief of which IMO is civility. Apparently you have other ideas.
+Angel Kanchev Gr Britain is smaller than Honshu, smaller the New Guinea, barely 1/10th the size of Greenland. If you use the general definition and include Australia, GB is so far down the exponential scale that it could be considered tiny, and Oahu miniscule. So what? If you were less concerned about physical size and more concerned about matters of real importance, you'd a happier person. I think that the impact that the relatively small number people of such a relatively small region have had on the culture and modern history of the world is all the more impressive because of its size. But back my original point,is there any reason besides VAT that one scrap yard became dominant in a compact landmass (is that better?) with so many diverse cultures and political divisions?
psdaengr That scrap yard became dominant, because of the connections they have, there aren't all that many Ferraris crashing all the time and collecting them without a network of connections would be near impossible, once you have the car profit comes easy. It's not also the VAT, nor the price, but the wait for the part, when it comes from Ferrari. It could take months for a part to arrive.
***** We aren't comparing the population. We are comparing land size. I don't think I have ever met someone as stupid and salty as you on the internet yet...
15K to buy and only 22 in profit? That's a much lower margin business than I'd expect for luxury rare spare parts if those numbers are accurate (but I suspect they're not considering the airbag alone was 5K).
At 7.43 why did he flip the airbag over? Was it long enough to do damage? I was breaking a merc c class w202 with a retired garage owner. I know my friend is old but when removing the airbag he was extra careful and told me never flip them over and keep them as close to installed orientation as possible.
Hey guys, dont get confused. Eurospares dont have only used/good condition parts. You can also order new ones. Also, some parts take long long long time to be fabricated new from Italy, and especially for aged Ferraris and is difficult to get them. Is not a crime to find the parts in good condition and ready in stock... however, as i said , you can always buy new ones from Eurospares... i own a 360 spider and Eurospares is my saviour to anything i need!
This firm and its boss are exceptional. Bought some spares for a Ferrari Mondial. He gave me some parts free! Very knowledgeable people. Sold the car and made £10.000 profit.
0:44 That buyer with the TR needing the F40 body parts is wrong... this is definitely not the only place you can find the parts he needs ,, Ferrari sells spares going all the way back to the 1950's.
I wander if someone of those parts will fit on my Honda even if there broke I can just look at haggard garage or mighty car mods so they can help me lol
Persian Tsifarkov many times it takes a set amount of g forces to set them off, some cars have a sensor in the front bumper that needs to break before it will deploy the airbag.
Airbags usually are set off at above 20-30 kph, however, most racing cars have them disabled because you can sustain neck injuries when wearing a helmet in case of an accident, hope that explains it.
Maybe it's a British thing to refer to used car parts as "scrap", but in the U.S. "scrap" is used to describe materials destined to be melted down and made into something else... :P
+Socrates I agree that buying the airbag second hand may not be a wise choice, especially for a recent car, but where will you get new parts for a Ferrari F40?
+jonathan mocan I heard once that half of the F40's made have been written-off (by rich knobheads like that guy who like driving fancy cars but who don't actually know how to drive them).
If you're rich enough to buy one of these supercars, why buy parts from a scrap dealer and no warranty ? Why not Just buy them from the factories brand new? Money isn't the problem with these people
cjmillsnun But there are a lot of Ferrari specialists who can reproduce those parts and still give you a little bit of warranty... (like the GMG did with their F40 for example)
SPProduction02 in this league of vehicles many collectors don't want reproduction parts, they want original oem equipment. Unfortunately new oem equipment can be really difficult to obtain even from the manufacturer, especially with small production run vehicles.

I think the frame was bent and it looked like it had severe damage to the back end so there could have been something damaged internally that was waiting to let go.
Not worth it. Most super cars once they have damage like that they are irreparable. By the looks of it the frame of the car was bent anyways. Too much money and no one wants to to buy a Ferrari that was in a wreck for the same price as a clean used one.
Some cars are worth LOTS more in parts than if you were to repair it and try to sell it. It takes a greedy hack to butcher nice cars but someone has to do it.
+jimisback Why would it have opened? There wasn't much damage on the front of the car. Obviously didn't hit the sensors enough to deploy the bag, as it didn't need to. You don't know as much about the intricacies of cars as you may think you do. :)
DCSPEED23 Why would anyone disconnect the airbag, especially intending to use the vehicle in a manner which has a higher chance of injuring the driver? That makes no logical sense. Also, no, the damage was relatively minimal. It just looks bad because body panels deform and crunch easily.
+William S very common to disconnect airbag for track as it is one less thing to replace if you have a offer track excursion. Airbag sensors can go off as low as 15mph impact if hit right.... look at that car again, that would have easily set it off
Supply and demand. Supply is low making it more valuable and because it's low a few collectors who need a water pump for that type of car would probably pay anything for it to get their car running.

15K was a steal for that car! the engine worked perfectly and the car was moving normally too
zenta There is a lot of damage on the car and ferrari body panels are extremely expensive; it could be a steal and it may not be you never know.
Yeah but nobody other than these guys would buy a broken Ferrari
+Icaro_JJP Anyone building a mid engine kit car would jump on that ferrari...

Depends on how it hit, and where the sensors are positioned.
And how hard it hit.
