    I’m happy to say that this absolutely worked for me. I did heat up the Dawn/vinegar solution and I applied it hot. I did this after filling the bath with hot/warm water and letting that sit for 15 minutes then draining (read that somewhere else). I also let the cleaning solution sit on the trouble areas for 10 minutes. The soap scum and hard water buildup wiped right off with a soft cloth (I used cloth diapers because they are soft and very absorbent). Some of the toughest areas had to have a second treatment but it worked 100% on our acrylic bathtub and chrome fixtures. Thank you!

    I use half dawn and half distilled white vinegar. Works great on my shower doors too. The first time you use it might take a bit more effort if you haven't effectively cleaned before, but after maintaining a clean shower is easy. Every few days i just spray the shower, let it sit for 15 minutes and rinse it off. Works great on your stainless steel kitchen sinks and porcelain bathroom sinks too. Oh, use it to clean my vinyl house siding too, and my golf cart, my bbq grill, sliding glass doors and windows(on the outside of the house only) and takes rust off too. In order for my rust spots to disappear though you need to seal the leak if there is any dripping, like with a towel or a something. Then let sit for about an hour with reapplying every 15 minutes or so and the rust should wipe off. All kinds of different things! Just an FYI, DO NOT use with steel wool, like an SOSpad or steel wool scratcher, it turns rusty instantly!

    WOW! I was very skeptical. I’ve tried so many different ways of getting my acrylic tub clean. This was IT! After watching your video, I immediately combined Dawn with cleaning vinegar and a little water in a spray bottle. Went immediately to my tub and sprayed it on. Started lightly rubbing with a simple sponge, and I was TOTALLY AMAZED at just how NEW my tub looked - no joke! I then cleaned my sinks and acrylic cabinets. I was on Cloud Nine last night with this solution. Trying it on toilets today.

    Don't use vinegar on these plastic shower surrounds. The vinegar will eat away at the protective coating and cause yellowing and then cracking. Most of the yellow stains people are trying to remove from their showers are areas where the coating had been worn away.

    Any suggestions for stains from hard water or essential oils or epsom salts. I have tried vinegar, dawn etc. It seems to go below the surface.

    Worked great!! Mixed 1/2 cup Dawn with 1/2 cup vinegar. Microwaved 30 sec. in Pyrex. Sprayed on my pretty soap scummy jacuzzi tub. Waited 10 min. Wiped off with an old washcloth. I think it would have worked better if I would have shifted to a second washcloth 1/2 way through, as the back half of the tub needs another coat. I’ve tried acrylic hot tub cleaners and the recommended jacuzzi cleaner. This works better than either one.

      I use these to spray after showering and then squeegee the seat. I ve had my acrylic shower for about 6 years. There is a slightly yellow scummy build up in some areas. I found using a plastic scrubber on a power drill works wonders! The moldy silicone caulk Will have to be replaced, however. Always keep the bleach mixture with water in a spray bottle and the Dawn and vinegar bottle in there! Use it after every shower! Also buy a spray car wax to put in the walls once you’ve cleaned them really well and the water will be repelled!

    • @TwinHomeExperts
      @TwinHomeExperts  2 года назад +1

      That’s a tuff one when it’s a stain embedded into the polymer. Worst case locate a local tub resurfacing company who may have the proper stain remover or resurface back to a bone color. Hope this helped you!

    • @MAGAMAN
      @MAGAMAN 2 года назад +1

      It's not a stain, its damage caused by using harsh chemicals on your plastic tub. the ore you scrub on it, the worse it will get. The only fix is to replace the tub.

    We have a fiberglass one piece walk-in shower unit and it's been a challenge trying to get the years or soap scum and hard water off the walls. We've tried every conceivable product out there to no avail. In addition, many of these RUclips tutorials don't really help with addressing this major concern which I know other folks out there have. Certainly this video doesn't.

    • @julabi
      @julabi 4 года назад

      I know it's a year too late. Buy Lava soap (bar soap) from Walmart. I usually wear gloves but you don't have to. Use it like any other bar soap (work into nice later on your hand) and clean each surface like you would clean your own skin. Should get rid of the soap scum and hard water.

    • @julabi
      @julabi 4 года назад

      Forgot to add, buy Gel-Gloss from Lowe's and apply it to your shower using paper towel and buff it with same paper towel.

    Yellowing around acrylic bathtub...what to clean it with?

    • @MAGAMAN
      @MAGAMAN 2 года назад +1

      The yellowing is caused by using things like vinegar on it. It is where the protective coating has been eaten away by the acidity of the vinegar. The only way to fix it is to replace the tub.
