After the Neon was discontinued they replaced it with the Caliber which I had for 6 years. It was slow and cheap materials but good, never broke down on me. Im sure the Dart will be much better. Eventhough it has Italian influences its essentially American still. The 2.4 Tigershark engine is the same engine as the 2.4 engine found in older Chrysler/ Dodge/ Jeep models. Its just been tweaked and improved a little and given a new name.
Downside comes to the interior color. They need to lighten the headliner color to seem more... airy.. especially with the black seats/dash. I drove a Ralle and felt excessively claustrophobic
I love the Dart, but its having some major reliability issues. I want to buy one and replace my old elantra. But I might look elsewhere due to the problems they have been having.
I own a civic and the interior is way nicer. Also the gas mileage is better. The visibility when you look around in the civic is amazing. I think that the trunk is larger on the civic. If you are looking for more power, $2,000 less and funny little features like the seat storage you might be better off with the dart.
I can see someone's fear of getting this because buying into a new car like this is a risk due to the fact there is no data on reliability issues or resale value. A recent example like this are the recent Chevy Cruise and Sonic. They are selling VERY well so we can sometimes its worth that kind of gamble. Sorry if I sound bias to American stuff but it's harder for me to come up with other examples because foreign car companies didn't need a huge overhaul like the American car companies did.
the jetta is still the most rigid and solid chassis you will find in the segment. Volkswagens always have an over engineered solidity. And how are they repulsive?
Yea so the CC is copied from the Touareg? And the GTI is copied from the Routan minivan? Sir thats bullshit. Every car they make is always at the top of the class for being fun to drive, yes, even the Jetta is just as fun as a Focus and 3 says Motor Trend. Consumer reports says the Golf is very responsive and very agile and fun, the GTI builds on that. Even the Touareg is one of the most fun to drive SUV's in the class besides the X5.
I lived IN EUROPE for about a little over a year going to university in England. I had a Golf. Every 3rd car I saw on the road was a Golf. Golfs sell like hot cakes over there. And if VW's are boring, why did caranddriver crown the mk7 gti as the best hot hatch ever? Just because you dont like them, doesnt mean everyone else agrees with you. Englands most rude Jeremy Clarkson and Simon Cowell love the new Up! and the new Golf.
Well that was before 10-15 years but now is much better. Also older Fiats have bad reputation mostly for crackling noise, problematic electronic and stuff like that. Engines was not so unreliable. Škoda also have bad reputation but now is very reliable car (at least everyone say that). If you are trying to find Eu car with worst reputation (at least realistic not made by some hate club) that would be Opel. Very unreliable and they rust very quickly, unlike Fiat.
"And no shit the Golf GTI is copied from the Golf. Its suppose to be a faster version of the regular Golf. " Yes i know but why did you ask me about GTI ????? " And you seem too ignorant to understand that." No buyers of VW are ignorants. That car is made for ignorants and world is full of them. So sales numbers doesn't mean anything. You even give proof for that asking me for GTI and after that acting like i was the guy who don't understand that GTI is just sport version of Golf.
"Every 3rd car I saw on the road was a Golf." So what ? That is proof of what ? That world is full of smart people who make smart decisions ? "And if VW's are boring, why did caranddriver crown the mk7 gti as the best hot hatch ever? " Ask them. "Just because you dont like them, doesnt mean everyone else agrees with you." Who agree with me is irrelevant. They make borring cars and that is a fact.
Civic makes me want to sleep, this car speaks hey i'm not a monster but I can throw your hair back atleast, I;m waiting for the GT to come out that one should be good that and the SRT4
Maybe because of that tractor feeling when you drive or boring design. Every VW model is copy of another or itself. Like some infinite circle of boredom. If someone open VW hate club it would be full like no other (ok maybe along with BMW and rest of the boring german cars).
"Yea so the CC is copied from the Touareg? And the GTI is copied from the Routan minivan?" No it's copied from Passat and other VW cars. GTI ? If you talk about Golf GTI than it's obvious copied from Golf ( Golf probably have most jokes and insults of all cars). VW is one of the most boring car companies. In Europe drivers of VW are labeled as potential retards or just rednexes.
Ron always does a good job
Thank you, yes I am awaiting patiently for the SRT-4 model of this car.
Actually the Jetta is the most rigid due to its high strength steel and laser seam welding instead of spot welding which Dodge uses.
fair review. Very impressed with the effort gone into creating a very contemporary car. Very FIAT.

My buddy owns a 05 Dodge Stratus. Thing never had issues. Don't see why this would
most fun thing is the red ribbon around the dash.
when is it coming to Australia??

We have both 2016 Elantra limited and 2016 Dodge Dart limited
wow. a ron review that didn't make me stick mechanical pencils in my ears.
nice review

New Mazda 3 = game changer in this segment
thx for the review
Failed to mention City MPG only said highway
That gear lever is identical to the one from the Alfa Romeo Giulietta.
i think its going to do just fine
I thought it was weird that the guy is 6' 1" having issues, I'm 6' 6" and I'm fine driving the SXT around. Move the seat back bud, you're tall.

SRT4 baby
Looks like a mini Charger. I'll take it.

Like if the dog at 5:00 is cute
It's still a Dodge.
Truck of the year, why yes its a dodge

"I my self find VW's repulsive" :D Good for you ;)
its and Italian build so different techniques are most likely, I my self find VW's repulsive
26k is too fucking much for a dodge neon...sry its true and the consumers have spoken...
I heard Fiats are known in other countries like Yugos war known in the U.S. Hint LEMONS! Good luck if you buy a Dart.
$26 what???...hell no!!!...nice review though...

BORING RENTAL! i want my Mazda back NOW!

People who buy Toyota are irrelevant. They have no taste anyway. Dodge looks like a car in every way. It is hard to say that for Toyota. ;)

dodge sucks!
