  • Based on the unreleased Doctor Who series 3 variation of "This is Gallifrey: Our Childhood, Our Home" which plays in Utopia as the Doctor helps Professor Yana to make the rocket fly.
For a brief time, Gallifrey's brightest sons were friends once more, working together for the common good.
"You've built this system out of food and string and staples. Professor Yana, you're a genius [...] If you'd been born in a different time, you'd be revered. I mean it. Throughout the galaxies."
This is one of my favourite unreleased tracks as I always interpreted the soft piano as representing the innocence of The Doctor and The Master's childhood on Gallifrey. Although the end foreshadows the looming disaster of the Master's consciousness returning.

This Is Gallifrey and The Face of Boe are my favourite soundtracks from this show. They really add that mystery and infinite galaxy feel to the show. And this cover is just fantastic. Absolutely fantastic.

One thing I never understood about Gallifrey was why they invented Tardises and time machines yet only the Doctor and the Master used them? That never made any sense.

The Doctor and the Master were aberrations of Time Lord society. Time Lord's had a policy of non-interference which prohibited their use for the purposes that the Doctor and the Master used them for in the show and it frankly was never interesting to feature them just observing. To contact the Doctor they also had the use of time rings and more sophisticated technology since the Doctor's Tardis is an old Type-40. It is also important to note that we see the Rani and the Meddling Monk use Tardises and possibly the War Chief with SIDRATs. On the whole, the series follows the Doctor's travels and for the most part he was avoiding the Time Lords, firstly because he was escaping justice for defying their societal rules and then for multiple other reasons which meant that there was no reason to feature other Time Lords' Tardises apart from the rogues such as the Master, the Rani, and the Monk. I'm sure Tardises were widely employed in the Time War but since we never got to see it in its originally intended depiction it's up for the imagination.
