How to sew up long hair for crochet braids
I'm new to crochet braids and they are officially my new thing and I can't wait to try out new styles. With trying new crochet styles, you can use different braid patterns. I have long, thick hair, so every braid pattern won't work for me as it will get bulky, fast. This is my first time braiding my own hair, but never again, lol.

On your initial insertion of the needle… put it through the loop. That way you don’t have to worry about not pulling it too much and it sliding out! You can pull it as tight as you need to.
Thank you for watching!
Praise him. A video for people with long hair like us.
🤣🤣 glad I could help!
Just braided my sister’s hair down. This video was a life saver. Thank you!
Yessss! I’m so glad it helped!! Thank you for watching and commenting!
Note for future: if you noticed how I was trying not to pull it too tight until I had put the needle through 2-3 times so it didn’t come out… you don’t have to do that. On your initial insertion of the needle... put it through the loop. That way you don't have to worry about not pulling it too much and it sliding out! You can pull it as tight as you need to from the start.
you deserve a community service award for this much needed tutorial.thank you.

Girlllll I needed this video I was just struggling a couple of days ago trying to see down my hair ....thank you so much 😩😏
Yesssss!! 😊 I hope it works for you! Thank you for watching 🤍
Thank you, again. I used this method on a lady with long hair after watching your video. Turned out splendid!! I also used tried sewing each braid to itself on my hair, it worked well too.😊 It can be rough when tutorials blow past minor details, assuming we all know or that they're self-explanatory; sometimes they are and we usually figure it out 😆 but it's nice to see it broken down. Specifically if we're not trying to experiment on someone else's head!🤣
Yay!! I’m so glad you came back to tell me this! I’m glad it worked for you and you also tried your own variation.
Yesssss! It’s so annoying when other people are like… “there are so many tutorials on YT about this….” but I clicked on YOUR video … explain it again… their video isn’t your video.
I try to explain things how I would want them explained to me
Thank you so much for this video! I was struggling and using up so much time on sewing my hair up. You made it so easy to follow and simple. Appreciate you!
I’m glad it was helpful!! I hope it worked for you! And thank you for watching and leaving a comment!!
Thank you so much! Most of the vids I've seen was showing women with short hair and mine is long like yours. Excellent!!!

Nope I didn't know how to do this... I just brought the hair ends to the braids and looped the crochet hair around the braid and ends. This looks so much easier... thanks for sharing 😊
Your method works too! I hope it helps! Thank you for watching and leaving a comment!

Thank you so much! Thank you for watching! ☺️
Girl! Can you come sew my braids down! lol looks simple but I’m sure to mess it up lol fingers crossed 🤞🏾
Lol, have a some faith in your ability! (I also had a camera and computer as my monitor so I could see what I was doing.) You’ll just have to feel around, but you can do it. Maybe set up 2 mirrors, so you can see the back.
I see you have a channel too, so if you use the utility software for your camera, you can use your computer as your monitor if you don’t already!
@@HeyChrishinda good idea!! Never thought of the utility software. Thank you 🙏🏾 💚 new subbie!
Thank you for this. I bought the thread/needle a few crochet styles ago and never used it because I didn't know how. I've been using bobby pins instead...
Thank you for watching! On the initial needle through, go through the loop so it doesn’t slip out
@@HeyChrishinda Ahhh...that makes sense. My hair keeps growing because I keep doing crochet styles. So, it's a catch 22 because it gets harder to braid down. Lol. Got my solution now. 😊
Nicely done. Very helpful
Thank you! Glad I could help!!

Saved my whole life!!! Thank you!!!
Yes! I’m glad I could help! Thank you for watching!
1 thing… on the initial insertion of the needle through your hair…put the needle through the loop of the thread (that you just put through your braid)! That way, you can pull it and the thread won’t slip out 🪡 🧵
This video was very helpful. Thank you! I just subscribed because of this video lol

Also, could definitely use a video attaching the braids to themselves. It sounds self explanatory, but would love to see it being done. thanks!
You mean adding the braid into the one next to it?
Possibly. You mentioned it @ 3:25. You said you could have taken the end of a braid and seen it into itself.
Did this today! Thank you Queen
How did it turn out? Let me know how it is when you sleep...if you sleep on your back. You’re so welcome! 😊
Thank you 🙏🏾

Hi - thanks for the vid. But how does it look at the end? How does it not look chunky in the back? I have long hair and have been struggling with having my crochet braids/twists look good all over. The front always looks okay because the cornrows are thinner up front, but I still end up with long, thick braids in the back that I sew down, but it doesn't look so good when I crochet the hair on :(
It doesn’t look chunky unless you have the braids sewn more towards the top of your head, which I’ve done with a different braid pattern and wouldn’t suggest. Since my hair is so thick and long, I tried the braid pattern where you braid the sides and nape upwards and and it was so bulky in the back middle that the twists looked bulky too. Your hair will cover it just fine. Here is a video with the finished product... I did end up cutting it, which will be my next upload ruclips.net/video/JPVzwcwB0EY/видео.html
I suggest straight backs with or without the anchor braid... & if you want to put it up in a ponytail, just find a cute headband. Thank you for watching!
I know im late but can you do a video on how to take the yarn/string out?
You’re not really late... lol. But I will keep this in mind. You just feel for the string, raise it up, slide your scissors under, cut, then pull the string out. You’ll have to cut in multiple places.
Are you going under the cornrow or through it when you're sewing?
Through. Once you’re ready to take it out and cut the thread… it’s very easy to remove and if you miss any pieces, once you take the braids out, you’ll get the rest.
@@HeyChrishinda thank you so much and thank you for this video!!! It was so thorough!
I’m glad I could help! Thank you for leaving a comment!!
I did this but my hair has long layers and is a bit longer than yours and it is sooooo bulky in the back now 🙃 😅 I did my whole head in locs but now idk what to do! Top and sides are fine but the back is bare looking and the bottom is so chunky.
The only thing I can think of is making sure to pull the two braids really snug, so it lays flatter and pull the thread nice and tight so it flattens it... not tight enough to cause a headache though
🥰🥰
Hope it helped! Also, check out my pinned comment!
How would you remove the thread?
You would just feel for the thread, put your hands underneath, and then cut. If there are any pieces left, when you unbraid your hair, those last pieces will come out
Thank you so much! I love your videos! It’s helping me out a lot I am determined to learn to braid my own hair
Thank you because I sewed down my daughter's hair to do crochet braids and the thread came out. Smh...
Dang…
Thank you for watching! With your initial insertion of the needle… put it through the loop of the thread… so it will hold.
Thank you so much!!
Thank you for watching and commenting! Hope this video helps!
