I have watched over 50 illusion braid videos, and this isn't the first one that I've seen where they actually look like individual Braids. I believe it's because of the advice you gave when you said you put the boxes a certain size to match the crochet braid. That made perfect sense. I have tried the illusion method quite a few times and never liked it, so I just took it down and did individual crochet braids because I couldn't get it to look how I wanted to. Thank you so much for this video.

I tried this last night and I learned that because my hair is still pretty short, securing the braid into the next braid works a lot better with rubber bands! I wish I had realized this BEFORE I did the cornrows in the back.

I started doing this. It provides for flexibility in the crown but I am starting to feel that the only way to get the individual look at the top is to truly do individual strands😩🙏🏾

Just do the perimeter individual and do the remainder like this video
Do the braid underhanded so the box braid illusion can lay flat. Split the hair into two pieces & use the previous braid as your third piece!
@@pensiveproverbs maybe making the illusion braids smaller to fit the size of the twist is what I was thinking of doing on me.

yall never show how you do the back with all the extra hair
The simple braid it straight back. Some do the single pattern on the edges in case they pull it up in a ponytail. But it’s big cornrows going back.
@@samaiyah2428 I think she what she meant was, the stylist didn't show how she crocheted the twists into the braids going down in the back. I would like to know also.
