    Fixing my dads 2002... figured its a lot of oil, picked up top pan gasket and watched this. Very much appreciate your input and views on each individual problem very helpful knowledge, and even a confidence booster in there for the guys who think it might be too big of a job overall.

    I've got a bit of (engine) oil on my steering rack gaiter, but the rate of loss is very low.
    Car has 85,00 miles, and I have just done the rocker gasket and the CCV, and the filter housing gasket and VANOS line are next on the docket. Also going to put some thicker oil in - never hurts!

    I found a small pool of oil below the oil filer, a few cm to the right, I’ve upgraded my oil braid, disa valve and flap to steel and aluminium so I’m wondering what it could be

    i have a leave from the vanos cover after replacing the valve cover gasket. any idea what that could be?

    My 330ci is garaged during winter months and continuously drips oil even though I haven't started the car in 5 months. Ive never addressed the oil pan gasket, the CCV or Dip stick o ring.
    Logic tells me the leak would have to be below the oil level.
    Is the passenger side of the oil pan gasket below the oil level where the pan meets the block?
    Could the dipstick o ring be my likely culprit?

    What are your thoughts on m56 valve cover swap?

      No real thoughts one way or the other. More about upgrading to a solid cover than plastic.

    Would changing all or most of the ccv components help with a possible vacuum leak?

    • @Sixty4motorsport
      @Sixty4motorsport  3 года назад +1

      Yeah most likely. It's a great place to start, because the hoses get really brittle.

      Check the rubber vacuum hose that goes to the fuel filter too

    Rear main seal too

      @Sixty4motorsport  3 года назад

      The rear main seal can leak, but maybe not as common as the others. A really good one to replace IF you have the gearbox out.

      Mines started leaking but it small for now. Getting e90 or 2series owned E46 for 10years now it's at 308k.

    I’ve got an oil leak somewhere. I have to top up about a litre a month, and there’s a potent smell of burning oil after driving for 5-10 minutes. I can’t see any obvious signs of leaking anywhere though. It’s driving me crazy

    I'm sorry, remove rad to replace oil filter housing?
    Why......never removed rad for that, last few times did it without removing alternator either
