I went and made your couscous salad right after watching this… I had no idea it was as easy as one part boiling water, one part couscous. It’s an ingredient I’ve had in my pantry that I’ve been avoiding using because I didn’t know what to do with it. The salad turned out great!
I used to frequent Dollar Tree. I would always check the freezers for frozen fruits and veggies! I like making smoothies using the frozen fruits. I’d get frozen mangoes, strawberries, berries, I think they even have frozen fruit mixes as well. I would put some of the frozen fruits into the blender, add some almond milk, soy milk or canned coconut milk, some agave syrup, cinnamon powder & blend. 😋 thank you so much for this video! You are so creative, it’s amazing!
I am so loving your channel. I love to make cheap easy vegan creole/cajun meals. People think it’s hard but it’s not. I teach my students if you could cook when you ate meat, you can cook delicious vegan meals all your doing is removing the meats or all animal products, but what we don’t take away is all the delicious seasonings. In creole culture the way to make all of the food taste authentic and good is to always use your staples onion, bell peppers, and celery. My favorite creole aunt also say never go without garlic powder.
Our Dollar Stores here in the US carry lots of vegan options; frozen veggies and fruits, frozen vegan burgers along with other vegan treats, vegetables dumplings, Vegan fish products near the tuna, and lots of canned vegetables and fruit, pasta, rice, dried beans, and many other options. I am happy they are expanding their selections to serve more customers.
TOMATO SOUP WITH NOODLES IS NOT WEIRD ITS SO GOOD In my culture we make this dish called Sopa de Fideo AND ITS LITERALLY TOMATO SOUP AND NOODLES AND ITS PROBABLY ONE OF THE BEST THINGS WE HAVE TO OFFER 😩😩
Also very easy to veganize, instead of using chicken flavor(bouillon) just use literally any other kind (that is vegan) and the rest of the ingredients are all vegan so just follow the recipe

Genius! Very inspirational. Because of you I eat ramen noodles (lol) but with veggies and without the seasoning packet. My takeaways are the coconut cream whip to make overnight chia pudding, the cake and cola hack, and the fried rice, which I will sometimes sub with ramen noodles. Thanks!
Thanks for posting this! I often go the dollar store to get stuff for the neighborhood community cupboard where anyone who needs food can just take it. You made some suggestions I'd never thought about before.
Really interesting video! I would be curious to see you do a video where you buy all the same ingredients at a grocery store to see if Dollarama was actually cheaper.
I found something called sundried tomato paste. I don't especially like the texture of the actual tomatoes but the paste adds a depth of flavor you don't get with regular tomato paste.
Loved this video, do more like this when you have a chance, it was so fun to see what you came up with and maybe you can go to other stores too and limit your purchases to one dollar or less items. I'd love to see if you could make cheap delicious meals by going to a regular store, possibly getting things for much less than a dollar there too?
Poundland in the UK recently started doing frozen and chilled food. The trouble is the brands often change week to week, so I have to buy several frozen/store cupboard items if they are good in case they vanish next time.
Loved this! I'd be interested to see a video on healthy foods you wouldn't expect to find at the dollar store because I had no idea you could find chia seeds there
Thank you for making this video. I now have some ideas for a potluck I've been invited too. When you're a vegan you bring something you know you can eat to a potluck.
The graham cracker crust is usually for pudding & custard pies that could have a meringue or cool whip topping. And you are right the apple pie would have had a flour crust and a flour or crumble topping. But it was fun to see your apple walnut pie. It will be an easy dessert when I am desperate for time. Thanks for this video, it was very interesting to see what can be bought at the $1 store.
Love 😍 budget recipes and Rose has shown that she certainly is the Cheap Lazy Vegan. Love 🥰 the video and love 💕 Rose and she doesn't need makeup because of her natural beauty.
This video had some interesting recipes that I plan on trying. We bake the pie crust about 12 minutes so it will stay together. It you don't have another crust/dough to go on top, bread crumbs work well. We can get them at the dollar store.
Dollar Tree was my go to as a young, broke vegan who only had $10-20 to spend on two weeks of food. Definitely not something anyone should have to go through, but I was thankful for the many vegan options I had, even veggie burgers, and spring rolls! I just wish they had fresh produce!
Our 🌹definitely understood the assignment! ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥. Only products from the dollar store! Your personality totally shined here. Not gonna lie, for me…gotta stick with fresh ingredients. However, if dollar store were my only choice, I know where to go for ideas!
If you have 99cent stores where you live you can buy "Ugly Food" there, it's fresh produce that didn't meet cosmetic requierments for contracts with restaurant & grocery chains that often was composted or sold as "seconds to feed suppliers to be fed to market animals. It's a win win for vegans & eco friendly folks.
I went to a noodle place not too long ago near Toronto and their only vegan option was tomato soup! It was amazing and it never occurred to me I could go to the dollar store and make it for like $3
cook an entire "gourmet" meal from the dollar store for a friend. Do not let them know and lets see their reaction! I think with some planning you could make a really balanced healthy meal/3 course mean thing from the dollar store!
I recommend buying a large bag of quick oats from superstore (I know, not from the Dollarama) for like 3 $. Waaay cheaper and just as easy as "instant" packages and healthier as you add in want you want. Peanut butter is one of my favourite add ins. ( You can get that at the Dollarama. 😊)
OMG Rose, I practically went through the screen to get at all that yummy food! The coke cake hack reminds me of my mom using apricot nectar in cakes. That's basically soda, right? Also, was your cake fully cooled when you applied the coconut cream? If it was hot, that would cause the cream to run like that. Another idea would be to layer the fruits in the cake pan between oiling and pouring, to get that pretty upside down cake effect when you remove it from the pan. You could also bake the cake in a skillet, again layering the fruit between oiling and pouring. That would give you a wider cake for more servings, and the fruit effect would be prettier - think mandalas. Also, I forgot if you got that brown sugar you were looking at, but you could add a little of that to the coconut cream you used for a sweetened whipped cream effect for cake frosting. Lastly, exactly what were the vine leaves stuffed with? I'd love to have some, but I need to know what's in them first. And PS, I'm with that lady who didn't like asparagus. I don't like it either. But I absolutely adore your videos! Blessed be.
@@CheapLazyVegan yeah, Dollar Tree is about a mile from me, and they don't have the same quality of food like dates and chia seeds and other organic foods. When I think of the Tomato Soup in Ramen, I think of the Korean Convivence store videos on TikTok where they get the Korean ramen bowls you drain, add tomato sauce, add a slice of cheese or string cheese, and then add eggs or sausages. I bet you could veganize that with this version by adding vegan cheese or N. yeast and some vegan grounds or meatballs.
Could of made an Oatmeal crumble for that pie. I've done tomato soup with regular noodles before. But not with Ramen. I think I will try that. Could of punched holes in that cake and let the cream go all the way through it. Still looks good anyways. I Love Uncle Beans rice. Would love to try that Stir Fry. Yummy.
Make sure pie and cakes are cooked before you put icing on it because it will melt. Don't know what vegan stabilizer can use for the coconut cream to keep like icing. I'm trying to remember if maybe sugar does it I think I know they use it to make meringue. I don't bake that often, so only thing I know is waiting to let cake cool before you put icing on it because it will melt when you put the icing on a really hot cake.
Just an FYI, graham cracker crust should not be baked, they are usually filled with pudding or fruit and served cold. I will need to try the cake mix with the soda, that looked good.
