My dad is a retired police officer and yes, he is terrible in every sense of the word. He fell down a rabbit hole of hating black women (he is black himself) and watching like, 3 hour long videos of randos talking about how terrible they are and how other races of women are better (yikes). It's so sad to lose someone I used to love to propaganda. He's done so many other reprehensible things to my family but I'm not ready to unpack that yet.

Dude, I remember at school we were deciding on who to give our fundraising to and one of the options was autism speaks. We watched promos for each organisation and autism speaks was so messed up? It wasn't even that long ago.
It was a lil boy getting overstimulated but it was shot like a slow horror movie, making autism out to be something insidious and deeply damaging. Ofcourse it also had the trade mark "poor autism mom who wants her son back". I can't believe we watched that in school. I remember thinking "I have friends who are autistic, thats not what it's like, it's not a tragedy" and one of my neurotypical friends being unaware and saying something like "autism sounds so horrible, we should pick them to donate to". I vaguely remember the promo saying they wanted to "cure" autism too 💀💀💀

Flashback to that one time this girl in some of my classes spent an entire art class talking about "ND people" but only ADHD and Autism and she messef up stuff about both and then talked bug about OCD then said "this is what happens when you let the intrusive thought win" when someone sprayed something with a water bottle. Like please. And then she spread misinfo and vilanized people with ASPD, DID, and OSDD. Then during gym class she picked on me for things that are my autism traits. Then she called the substitute teacher the R slur. I think about her a lot because I want to punt her off a cliff but I can't do that so...

@@AnarchicCrowthis soooo much! my writing is trash sometimes, like i read it back the next day and go "wtf was she on to think this was good help-". and yes sometimes it IS good and i read it back and go "omg this is actually so good, i wrote that??" but i don't primarily write for that to happen, it's just a very welcome side effect. i write to get my ideas down and out of my head so they don't get lost, i write because being the only one awake at 3am, typing away on my laptop and creating stories about my characters that i adore is one of the best feelings i've ever experienced. if the product is "good", cool, another thing to be happy about, but that's absolutely not the goal i have in mind when i sit down to write.

Sick and tired of people thinking ND = adhd and autism. Schizophrenia, NPD, and systemhood are all under the ND umbrella. Some nd conditions are genetic (bipolar, autism, etc) and some are traumagenic (Systemhood, ASPD, etc). Not all neurodivergence is the same and that’s okay.
nerodivergant really just means brain different. so any way that your brain functions differently from the "norm" is nd.

There was one really annoying moment where I called my friend Abelist (I was half joking) because they took the seat that I always sit in, and they said I couldn't call them that without a diagnosis :l, which is very stupid because they've acknowledged the fact that I definitely have autism

Because he (and dudes like him) don’t have to constantly worry about their safety they often push boundaries to try and get what they want. If I do the same thing I could be killed.

Being queer and being disabled is stigmatized, if I told someone I was queer and autistic they would be weird about it, if not standoffish or rude. The people who are faking it actually cause more harm for us disabled folks. They take away accessibility to the little resources that we do have and they enforce stereotypes.
I can't speak for black people and I can't speak for the whole queer community but I don't like boxes either. but until we're seen as completely equal, aren't disadvantage, and don't get othered when we come out; then its safe to stick with separation. Mostly my brain because I have more than ten years of memories missing, as well as several more random gaps and I have no idea what happened there. But also sometimes I just, remember people saying stuff but my brain views it like text on a piece of paper so I have no idea who said it. Hey, comrades! I finally did some art yesterday!
I haven't been doing much of it because of a lack of energy, motivation, and inspiration. I've been struggling to even get myself to pick up a pencil and draw, so I'm proud of how much I drew.
I didn't draw all that much, but I did try out some new things :) I tried drawing a person in a style I'm not used to and it actually came out OK, which I'm super happy about :D
I drew a frog, which I've never drawn before :) I also drew a cat, I've tried to draw cats before. They never come out the way I want them to :( but this one was OK. Though it was a quick little sketch :)
I don't have much to comment about since I've been very distracted by a manhwa that I'm reading. I sadly could not escape the sexualisation of women in manhwa/manga, but I just could not drop it. I found it very interesting, and there was only one other thing I've read that is similar to it.

I want to start doing research on more disorders, partly because I think I have more than just autism, and partly because I just want to learn more.
The ones I'd personally like to focus on (because I think I might have these, but need more research) are ASPD, APD, ADHD and MDD(Maladaptive Daydreaming)(Idk if it's s a disorder, but I still wanna learn more about it)
If you know of any sites or tests that give accurate and unbiased information that I could look at for research I'd be super grateful :) Also if you have any personal experiences with disorders then feel free to share them, obviously you don't have to if you're not comfortable tho :)

Hello, I'm a person who experiences Maladaptive Daydreaming.
It is not a disorder, but instead a symptom of things like ADHD, Autism, or PTSD.
MD is kinda gatekept a lot in weird ways. People say it has to negatively affect your life, but truthfully, I think it's the nature of the daydreams themselves that makes them maladaptive.
Maladaptive Daydreams are much more vivid typically. They feel almost real, and can impact your emotions and cause genuine responses.
My daydreams are primarily angsty, and often the pain I/the person I am daydreaming as experiences, will genuinely affect me. Traumas I go through in the daydream, or emotional disturbances, will cause me to genuinely cry, because it feels as if I am truly going through those things.
Maladaptive Daydreaming does have the potential to negatively affect life of course. Many people find they struggle to sleep, either because they're daydreaming, or because they *need* to daydream to fall asleep. Many also find that they spend an unreasonable amount of time daydreaming. For me, daydreaming is the main thing I do. I spend hours of my time in my daydreams, I do it every single night.
I also often find that I will just casually get lost in a daydream. I will have a thought, or someone will say something, and my whole world will fade away, and instead of processing what I am *seeing* and *hearing* I will process what I am visualizing and thinking. And it can be hard to break out of these daydreams. I go into a dissociative state, because what is real to me has stopped being the physical world, and instead my thought world.
Essentially, if daydreaming is a big part of your life, and tends to be quite vivid, maybe MD is the right label for you.
Of course, don't be afraid to use the label even if you're not sure. Even if it was a disorder, there is nothing wrong with just using the label that feels right at the time. If the label helps you feel seen, and helps you find ways to manage and cope, then use it.
its usually not discussed outside of adhd circles, but adhd affects memory beyond being forgetful sometimes. usually people have around 5 working memory 'slots' but adhders have less (and this cannot be changed by meds!). additionally, the problems with focus mean that adhders might not be paying enough attention to even to start encoding memories. this is a bad memory encoding cocktail where basically if i didnt have a notebook and phone on me at all times, id be lost.

(Apparently I needed to vent about this so massive vent:)
When I was a young child it was cool, I could bend in ways other people couldn't and me and my brother (who probably also has it, we both got it from our mum) would have little competitions on who could bend the most (he was always more flexible on his arms, but I would win pretty much any other place)
Until my early teens... I was probably 14 or 15 when the first comorbidities started showing up (sure, in hindsight all my problems dating back to when I was an infant were probably caused by it, but the first notable comorbidities). I got my POTS diagnosis probably a few months after (may have been before, that year was a blur) my eds diagnosis at 14 and my gastroparesis diagnosis close to a year afterwards at 15 (but I only got it that quickly because my mum has it too and she demanded I get tested for it, it took 15 years for hers to be diagnosed). Chronic pain from like age 14 or 15 (it was around my birthday so I can't remember which, I think it was 15 but maybe 14) isn't something I would wish upon even the worst people in the world. Chronic pain is the worst in general, but starting before you're an adult is awful, especially when treatments are gated behind adulthood (they were even hesitant to give me the pain meds I desperately needed)
And gatroparesis (and other digestive system chronic pain) as an afab (I'm non-binary, but didn't have a voice to correct my doctors at the time) teenager gives you so many accusations of having an ed, just because the symptoms line up almost perfectly. I swear I am still dealing with this years later (except they try to hide it now... badly)

the lightning struck heart, by TJ Klune. it’s an amazing book about a powerful mage and a knight who fall in love, but cannot be together. after a dragon kidnaps their prince, the two, as well as other colorful characters, set off on an adventure to rescue him. it’s an awesome story and one of my favorites! it does involve smut scenes and talking about sex in general, so if that’s not your cup of tea, i have another one.
another good series is the throne of glass series, by sarah j. maas. the series is centered around Celaena Sardothian, an assassin who got caught and was sent to a terrible prison. she gets plucked out by the prince of the nation to compete in a trial to be the official kings assassin. Celaena is wicked funny and a very good main character. the series is beautiful.
if you’re looking for a standalone however, i would recommend the enchantment of ravens. i don’t remember who the author is unfortunately, but it was a wonderful story. it’s about a girl and a fae lord who must travel to the highest lord to clear the main characters name. it’s a good book.

okay, personally as a system, we don't really agree w/ the video at 4:15/16 (relationship trauma one) because of our personal experience with it.
we opened up to our partner system about our past relationship trauma and they've been nothing but accepting and welcoming and understanding. sure i get it, everyone's experiences are different and everyone has a right to their own opinion about this, but i just wanted to voice that i personally do not agree with that message /gen
not everyone is the same, nor is everyone going to be deliberately out to attack others. just felt the need to say that because as a system with chronic paranoia (to the point where it is *hard for us to sleep at night* and we constantly wake up in the middle of the night with near *panic attacks*), this really was not safe for us to watch because it spiked our paranoia /gen /lh

I don’t think they’re talking about systems. I believe they specifically meant women/fem presenting singlets with cis men singlets. Obviously with systems we need to be a bit more open (which is alot safer when you’re with another system) but singlet cishet men are known for their manipulation.

We still felt the need that someone who may be in a stable, loving relationship, that is cis and or fem/hetero thats with singlets, who has paranoia- could feel the same fear we just felt. /gen
@@mintiflycol.lective yeah I get your point. I’m also apart of a queer system. It’s totally fine to say “this is my experience with this” but the general video I think is super accurate. You need to be careful- especially with singlets/people without noticeable trauma. Again, the video was about cishet singlet men- and I don’t think it’s unfair to tell people that you should be extremely careful handing out your trauma info, especially if you haven’t been together/known them for long.
Yeah, I'm personally in the same boat as you, my partner helped me unpack trauma I didn't even realise I had. I'm very grateful for him and he's done nothing but build me up and help me establish boundaries. I 100% understand what they're saying but I had the initial anxiety that they were going to say "you are a burden and going to ruin your relationship by doing this", which made me insecure and defensive because I've heard it before. I know that's just me and that's not what they were saying but the defensiveness stayed with me to the end.
I'm very lucky to have him and I understand why it might be best not to share that with someone who may take advantage of you but at the same time, sometimes you need to share your pain with your partner and if your trauma is eating you up inside and you can trust them, you should tell them because a relationship is about trust, if they take advantage of your trust, it's no longer a relationship. Stay safe and only share if you are safe in doing so ❤

i don't do this personally but it's super based, i find it really cool when someone has "mismatching" (according to traditional gender norms) pronouns & presentation!
