with a UTE-200BT, these instructions work - and though only one of the two slots can be used for audio at a given time as per the vid, you can choose which slot has the ability to play audio using the AUDIO DEVICE option in the BLUETOOTH setup menu. (the BT on this stereo is a huge amount of hassle compared to every other bluetooth device ive ever used)
Hello there! First off thank you for the great and HELPFULL video! Got my phone paired in a matter of a minute! I had a question tho. I was about to update the firmware when I found that the firmware installed was M15 S36. Is this a later firmware already installed or will I be updating to M12 S36?
Hello. This was very helpful. I have a 172BT. The problem I have since switching phones from a Samsung Galaxy 8 to a Pixel 6, last November, is the microphone only works when I talk into it to the phone to give commands, such as "Hey Google," but doesn't work during phone calls; i.e., I can tell Google to call my husband, and I can easily hear him when he answers, but he cannot hear me. Everything worked fine when I had the Samsung. The radio is older than the phone by 3-5 years or so, give or take, and the Pixel is so new that while the radio pairs with it and plays everything just fine over Bluetooth just fine, the phone calls go through, but people on the other end cannot hear me through Bluetooth, tho I can hear them. Would you recommend a firmware download or something else? I'm really annoyed and baffled by this problem. Thank you so much.
Hi Diana. It's possible you need an update, there is a link in the description for updates. You can go into the settings on the radio to check firmware and compare it to what's on the website. It kind of sounds like the mic is just not working period and perhaps the "Hey Google" part is getting picked up by the phone's mic rather than the radio? Did you by chance have a windshield replaced or anything like that? I commonly see mic's get damaged during that process. Or do you by chance have a smartwatch also connected to your Pixel? I see smartwatches throw off the Bluetooth or CarPlay/Android Auto connection for most phones. If you have a smartwatch, I recommend turning it off before you get in the car otherwise the phone gets confused on which device to route calls through. I hope that's helpful!

I hope you can help me, Im having trouble to find some settings on my CDE 172BT, how can i mute the microphone while in a call using the keys on the head unit ? Besides why does the bluetooth streaming pasuses on primary device when i have two devices paired ? Thanks in advance
Looking through the manual there does not appear to be a mute function. For your second question, I need more information about the exact situation. Do you mean the music pauses randomly? Or is it pausing when your secondary device rings? If you mean randomly that sounds like a streaming issue. If you are using a music app like Spotify or Pandora and you don't actually have music downloaded to your phone, and say you drive through an area where you only have like 2 bars of service, the app will buffer and pause to finish downloading the rest of the music. I find this incredibly annoying so rather than stream, I download all my music while connected to WiFi so it never pauses while driving through varying cell coverage.
@@carstereochick Thanks for the reply Its sad it ni longer has a mute function, something it had my previous head unit CDE 143 BT, besides it seems Alpine’s quality and features has been decreasing on every new model they launch Regarding the second question, it pauses randomly like 5 times every time when i very first turn on the radio or car when i have two devices saved but only one in use, i mostly use Spotify and Apple Music with downloaded material to the device (iPhone 12 in this case) so it is not pausing randomly because of the lack of signal Thanks you in advance
I would try what I did in the video, clear Bluetooth memory from both devices and repair from scratch. If that doesn't work, try a full reset by pressing and holding the bass engine button (below track forward) and preset #6 at the same time for 3-5 seconds.
Does it only happen while using a specific music or podcast app or any audio streaming? I once had a client have a similar issue with a podcast app and something in the app was corrupt. Deleting and reinstalling the app resolved the issue.

Haven't tested that one yet! I assume it's probably like most Alpine's where the internal amp on the radio will start to distort around 21 and that the pre-amp would be clean all the way up, but I will have to test it to confirm.
Hey, I’ve got the CDE- 173EBT and was wondering if you’d be able to help Most times, it connects but I’ve realised it’s in certain places. I’ve cleared the devices and all but it’s still not letting me connect??
Sorry to hear that Esther, perhaps you have a defective unit? In my experience I've been able to get quirky connections issues resolved by clearing the memory from both devices. There may be one particular app on your phone that is corrupt and causing a connection issue. I would try deleting and reinstalling the most commonly used apps. I have had to do this for a few different popular apps like Pandora, Waze, Spotify and various podcast apps for all different types of phones.
I have the CDE 175BT. Bluetooth volume is an issue. I have it maxed out on my phone but it's not nearly as loud as playing music. I've got the owners manual but can't seem to find a way to adjust it. Any ideas?
What model phone? If you're comparing say an iPhone connected via USB vs Bluetooth, you will definitely have slightly less output/quality on Bluetooth vs USB, but it shouldn't be like 1/2 as loud for example. If it's a pretty big difference in output level between sources I would recommend resetting the radio by pressing and holding the bass engine button (below track forward) and preset #6 at the same time for 3-5 seconds. Clear the device memory from your phone as well and try pairing process again.
have an Alpino UTE-73BT and I have a problem, when I turn the device off and on again it does not AUTOMATICALLY CONNECT the Bluetooth on the cell phone.
I installed a UTE-73BT unit and I'm having problems with my speakers cutting out during play. Sometimes it'll last a minute then they'll go out sometimes they'll go out sooner. Radio always stays on and never flickers. Please help any suggestions. Thank you.
I would do exactly what I did in the video, I've seen that before and usually just clearing memory from both devices resolves weird BT streaming issues like that. The other thing to check is does it only happen with one particular app? I've seen that too where I have to delete a client's app and reinstall it (Pandora, Spotify, etc.). Sometimes a client will realize the pausing/skipping only occurs after they've opened up another app or received a notification from another app. Check your background refresh settings on all your apps, I turn off whatever isn't necessary. Another thing to consider is what your streaming settings are vs your cell coverage. If you're trying to stream Tidal in high-res or Apple Music in high-res lossless in an area without the best coverage, the buffering can sometimes sound like that sort of pausing/skipping while still appearing as though it's still playing on screen. You could try downloading vs streaming if you think that could be the issue. Lastly, you can try a soft reset on your phone in addition to clearing memory from both devices. Hopefully one of these tips does the trick!
@carstereochick thank you for the suggestions but it happens when I'm playing from my music library off my cell and it happens when I'm just playing off the FM tuner.
Oh, I misunderstood, I thought when you said the radio stays on, I thought you meant it plays on the AM/FM radio and audio only cuts out on Bluetooth. You mean the radio doesn't power down, gotcha! I would try a hard reset. Press and hold preset #6 button and bass engine button (below track up button) for 3-5 seconds. If that doesn't work, got to check all your wiring, make sure your ground is solid and check all your speakers and speaker connections. If you have one bad speaker, or one part of the speaker terminal is touching metal in the door frame, the radio will see a dead short, overheat and go into protection mode where it turns off the internal amp (radio will stay on, but no sound). After a bit it may cool off, come back on, then heat up again and turn off.
Can you confirm that it shows Bluetooth is turned on in the same settings menu? If it's definitely on and you've cleared memory so there are no devices stored, I would try restarting your phone 1st. If your phone still doesn't show it after a restart, you may need to do a hard reset on the radio which will delete all settings (resets the clock, radio presets, display color, etc.). ruclips.net/video/VjH-rGHqLSI/видео.htmlfeature=shared
Ooh good call. I should make a video on that. Basically similar idea. Press and hold the music icon/set up button. Turn the knob until you see display. Push it in to select display and then you can select whether you want to adjust key color or the main display color. Push it in again and then you can start turning it to see the different color options.
Hello. Everytime I start my car, bluetooth connection resets on radio too. So when I start my car, the radio is paired, but on my phone it says connection unsuccessful and I have to pair it everytime I start my car. What should I do? I have UTE 200BT
Sounds like your radio doesn't have constant memory. What kind of car is this in? Is your radio retaining other settings/memory like the clock, radio presets, etc.? If it's not retaining other settings, then it's a wiring issue, need to check your constant power/memory wire. If it is retaining other settings like the clock/radio presets, try what I did in the video - clearing memory from both devices. If that doesn't work, try to reset the radio completely by pressing and holding the bass engine button and preset #6 at the same time for 3-5 seconds. Then clear the memory from your phone and try pairing again.
@@carstereochick I have a volkswagen golf. The radio is brand new, so the cables coming from the radio shouldn’t be the case. I’ve also tried resetting the radio and it didn’t help either. But maybe its from the cables that are coming from my car and not the radio, not quite sure about that P.S. It seems like other settings reset too. And also, the radio turns on upon ignition, but keeps working even when I remove the car key completely
Thank you for the details! This is what I suspected because it's a very common mistake in European models since the wiring instructions don't always come with an insert to advise you. In select years/models, you have to reverse the ignition/constant. Sometimes the aftermarket Euro wire harness will have red with a yellow trace and yellow with a red trace to denote that in some models the constant and ignition wires are reversed. Try those two wires and see if that resolves the issue.
I have this issue, I have a UTE-73EBT and it retains no information? I turn my car off and everything is gone it doesn’t automatically connect to Bluetooth or anything
Hello. I have a little issue with my ute-200bt. When I turn on the unit the handsfree icon is flashing in the background corner for 1 minute is that normal? (this is when i'm not connected to the bluetooth). Also i noticed when i am in tunner mode, usb mode or aux in mode, and try to connect to bluetooth with my phone i have to tap in the bluetooth list to connect it, it doesn't connect automatically, only when I am in BT Audio it connect automatically with my phone!
Sounds like your phone is paired for audio only which is the Device 2 memory and it should be set to Device 1 to do handsfree calling and audio streaming. The flashing is because when you start it up the Bluetooth is on and looking to establish connection. Did you try clearing the BT memory from both devices and try re-pairing?
@@carstereochick no i didn't clear it. I will do so. Thank you very much! I forgot to tell you after the handsfree flashing for 1 minute then disappears from the screen even the audio icon is not appearing only the bluetooth icon appears (this when i'm not connected to the bluetooth), also how can i unpair the second phone? Or is possible only with clering the Bluetooth memory?
You're welcome. Unfortunately to do that you really have to just do what I did in the video - BT Initialize - to entirely clear memory from the radio, that will clear Device 1 and Device 2 so when you repair it, you can set it as Device 1.
@@carstereochick OK. After this operation my phone will connect automatically when i activate bluetooth (no matter in which mode i am?) to the unit whitout me connect it manually?
Yes, it should auto-connect for both handsfree and audio streaming if you register it as Device 1. Also remember these devices are looking to establish connection on start up. If you're still experiencing issues, you'll want to check if there is a firmware update for your radio. We don't sell that one in USA so I'm not sure what website you'd need to go to for any firmware updates on that model.
This was very helpful during the process I must have pushed something now it's as if it's locked the screen. I've tried to reset it and it stays locked.
Have never run into that with this model. You're saying the buttons are now unresponsive? I would try detaching the face and cycling ignition. If that doesn't work pull the radio fuse in the car or disconnect power behind the radio to reset.
That definitely sounds like a microphone issue, but you could try a hard reset on the radio. I've seen a hard reset (wipes memory totally clean all settings) resolve that issue once before, but 99% of the time, that's usually a mic issue. Check out PacParts.com for a replacement mic.
That is weird. I assume you've tried streaming audio with a few different apps and same result with whatever you try to stream? For some reason I have noticed Android doesn't usually connect for audio until it sees something playing. You can check the software version in settings and see if it needs an update, but you may just need to do a hard reset on the radio: hold bass engine pro button and preset #6 for a few seconds until radio turns off and reboots.
Thank you so much! Stupid instruction manual does not explain this, my CDE205DAB cannot 'clear' a phone, I needed to reset the entire unit losing all my settings
Sounds like you maybe missed the 1st step and the radio is not in sleep mode. First you have to press and hold “back” button below knob labeled “sleep”. Then press and hold setup. It’s a different BT menu when the radio is on vs when it’s in sleep mode and it has to be in sleep mode to get to that BT Initial option.
Easy peasey, just tap the little music icon (setup) and your audio options pop up like Bass, then push in the knob again and it will cycle through all the options like Mid, Treble, Balance, Fader. Simply turn the knob to make your adjustment, then push in the knob to cycle out.
Please help I have a UTE-73EBT And it doesn’t connect to Bluetooth automatically, I turn the car off and all settings reset, clock, Bluetooth device, sound settings, so I just don’t understand what’s happening please help
That could be a phone or app issue or a radio issue. Unfortunately I'd recommend doing the process again and also just restarting your phone as well. If the same issue still occurs, I would do a hard reset on the radio. Just keep in mind that will restore it to original settings so you'll have to reset the clock, your stations, display, etc.
How can I fix when I'm on blue tooth audio mode it just says "BTA pause" when playing RUclips videos .how can I get it to stop saying that and have the clock show.
Hello, sorry didn't see this earlier. I have seen RUclips video apps do weird things on Bluetooth with both Alpine and Sony. It could just be the app. The last client that had a similar issue had success by deleting the app and reinstalling it. But if you just tap the "View" button on the bottom right by the AUX input, that will let you display the clock. Just keep tapping it until you see the clock show up.
Sounds like it might be paired as Device 2 instead of Device 1. Device 1 will do both audio and handsfree, Device 2 will only do telephone calls. I would try clearing it and re-do the pairing process again.
That is bizarre. What type of files are loaded on the USB? It should be able to play MP3, WMA, AAC and FLAC files. Might have to do with how it's organized on the drive. The radio can read 256 tracks max per folder/album and 256 max folders/albums. If you have no folders and just a bunch of tracks on there (over 256 tracks), that could be part of the issue.
Hello how do i delete a phone?? My friend pair their phone to Bluetooth and now Everytime i turn on stereo i have to pair 😭 it is annoying i remember connecting by itself..
Hi - I would follow the procedure in the video to clear the memory and re-pair your phone (have to forget the device from your phone). Unfortunately there is no option to delete one device at a time so you basically have to delete both and re-pair yours.
There's a link in the description for the CDE models and to the Alpine update website. Here is the link to the UTE-73BT update page - kb.alpine-usa.com/category/av-head-units-head-units/ute/ute-73bt/644/
Glad I could help! Try to find a good local authorized dealer. They are discontinued, but a lot of retailers still have them and that is what they *should* be selling them for.
You'll want to go into that same set up menu with the unit in that sleep/standby mode and instead of Bluetooth, scroll over to firmware update. First check the firmware version (in that same menu) and see if it actually needs an update. This is the latest firmware update page for the UTE-73BT - bit.ly/3lVNVN9 This is where you can download the instructions and the actual firmware. I recommend using a small USB drive like 8 or 16 gig and format it FAT32. Download and extract the update to a blank, formatted USB, then pop it in the radio and go to back to the firmware menu in the radio. Select firmware, then scroll to and select FW Update by pushing the knob in, turn the knob to yes and push in to start the update.
Mine did not give me the option when I pushed and held set up. It only gives me general, demo mode on ,off sorry this wasn't helpful mabe you could help me
Hi Stephen, sounds like two possibilities. Perhaps you missed the 1st step about putting the unit into sleep mode? Most common issue I see is that. To do that, press and hold the back button arrow until the unit goes into Standby mode (radio is off - but clock still displayed) then when you press and hold setup and you see General pop up, scroll past General until you see Bluetooth and select that option. That or maybe you selected General settings instead of scrolling over to Bluetooth? It's a hierarchy, but I think the 1st option that pops up is General. Turn the knob until you see Bluetooth, then push it in and scroll to BT IN. I hope that helps!
Perfect solved my issue and didn't give me a life story! You are awesome!

@@carstereochick thank you very much I will try that.
My phone is saying it requires an app to connect to my UTE-73BT, yet I can't seem to find the app
You don't need an app to use it. I think Alpine has an optional app, perhaps the Tuneit app? Not sure, but an app isn't required to use it.
Good stuff ! 😊
Thank you! 🙂
THANK YOU SO MUUUUCH OMG
I'm so happy I could help :)
Thank you!! I got a new phone and it wouldn't pair. I saw another video that worked, but it didn't show how to clear existing phones.
You're welcome!!
What happens if my phone wont show me the alpine device to pair with? What do I do then? Thank you.

Good video, you can please explain how I can display the color 🙏
Ooh good call. I should make a video on that. Basically similar idea. Press and hold the music icon/set up button. Turn the knob until you see display. Push it in to select display and then you can select whether you want to adjust key color or the main display color. Push it in again and then you can start turning it to see the different color options.
@@carstereochick Seriously thanks!
Please help, my select button is not the knob idk what it is but I can not select anything
How do I put in a cd in the player? Thanks
But maybe its from the cables that are coming from my car and not the radio, not quite sure about that
@@carstereochick You saved me a headache, thank You so much!
I have this issue, I have a UTE-73EBT and it retains no information? I turn my car off and everything is gone it doesn’t automatically connect to Bluetooth or anything
Great video
Thank you!
How many watts dose it have per speaker channel?
Hey Roberto, these models are 18 watts RMS per channel.
What about if your phone isnt already paired to this dev8ce
If no phones have been paired you don't have to do the Bluetooth Initialize, just go straight to the Pairing menu.
@@carstereochick ok thanks 😊
Hi! I can connect my phone by bluetooh and when somebody call me I hear the other person but she can't hear me... maybe I need a microphone? Thanks
That definitely sounds like a microphone issue, but you could try a hard reset on the radio. I've seen a hard reset (wipes memory totally clean all settings) resolve that issue once before, but 99% of the time, that's usually a mic issue. Check out PacParts.com for a replacement mic.
73bt- CAN YOU CONNECT TO BLUETOOTH SPEAKERS??
No.
Connected but still say BTA ACTIVE NO DEV
would this mean it needs update?
Are you connected as Device 1 or Device 2?
@@carstereochick device 1
That is weird. I assume you've tried streaming audio with a few different apps and same result with whatever you try to stream? For some reason I have noticed Android doesn't usually connect for audio until it sees something playing. You can check the software version in settings and see if it needs an update, but you may just need to do a hard reset on the radio: hold bass engine pro button and preset #6 for a few seconds until radio turns off and reboots.
Thank you so much! Stupid instruction manual does not explain this, my CDE205DAB cannot 'clear' a phone, I needed to reset the entire unit losing all my settings
what if BT initial doesn't show? Only BT IN? it says no devices are paired
Thx 🙏
How to set the treble on the Alpine UTE 73BT
Easy peasey, just tap the little music icon (setup) and your audio options pop up like Bass, then push in the knob again and it will cycle through all the options like Mid, Treble, Balance, Fader. Simply turn the knob to make your adjustment, then push in the knob to cycle out.
Please help I have a UTE-73EBT And it doesn’t connect to Bluetooth automatically, I turn the car off and all settings reset, clock, Bluetooth device, sound settings, so I just don’t understand what’s happening please help
You have your constant and accessory wiring mixed up. My guess is you have an older European car like a VW, common mistake.
Thank you
You're welcome :)
Very good but now I’m connected and it shows the song but I can’t hear anything out of the speakers and Ik they work
That could be a phone or app issue or a radio issue.
@@carstereochick thank you I did do that and it did work.
The music icon isn’t popping up on my stereo what do I do?
Sounds like it might be paired as Device 2 instead of Device 1. Device 1 will do both audio and handsfree, Device 2 will only do telephone calls. I would try clearing it and re-do the pairing process again.
Gracias gracias gracias gracias
De nada!
How do I use my USB flash drive to play music. Every time I plug it into the unit it starts to count numbers.
@@carstereochick It's only music that is on it I'm not to tech savvy so it may be the way it is loaded.
On my phone bt is connected on the crappy alpine radio bt no device after going thru these same steps. New i should gone kenwood or pioneer
Can you help me? How do I get my “joshs iphone” to appear back on my deck lcd?
Sure, try tapping the view button on the bottom right to cycle between through your display options.
I had to name my phone first then it worked. Thank you for the reply

Thanks
So where do I update the syuff
There's a link in the description for the CDE models and to the Alpine update website. Here is the link to the UTE-73BT update page - kb.alpine-usa.com/category/av-head-units-head-units/ute/ute-73bt/644/
Thank you!
Wish I could find a CDE-175bt for $219😎
Glad I could help! Try to find a good local authorized dealer. They are discontinued, but a lot of retailers still have them and that is what they *should* be selling them for.
Hello, how update the firmware?
You'll want to go into that same set up menu with the unit in that sleep/standby mode and instead of Bluetooth, scroll over to firmware update. First check the firmware version (in that same menu) and see if it actually needs an update.
This is the latest firmware update page for the UTE-73BT - bit.ly/3lVNVN9
This is where you can download the instructions and the actual firmware.
Hey how do you delete a phone?
By selecting Bluetooth Initialize. That deletes all phones from the Bluetooth memory.
Thank youuuuu
