    Would be worth putting a water/oil heat exchanger onto the engine as the challenge car uses an oil cooler above the RH rear wheel, takes ages to get the engine oil up to temperature, also why I’d be wary of reving it like that till it’s fully warm. Depending on the oil viscosity it’s possible to over pressure the engine oil and cause the hydraulic lifters to stick open when cold, they’re a non interference engine so it’s not the end of the world, but not ideal if you’re trying to drive it on the road! Might also be worth fitting the water/gearbox oil heat exchanger in place of the gearbox cooler fed by the rear screen for a bit more control over the temperatures. The 430 challenge car runs water to engine oil heat exchanger in the engine block and a water/gearbox oil heat exchanger in the middle of the V so it’s not an issue on track either.
    The rear suspension is normal 360/430 wishbones etc so if you can get hold of some road car rear uprights you’ll be able to attach the handbrake mechanism, both 360 and 430 will fit. But you may need an adapter if the disc size is different.
    The auto and slippery surface buttons on the centre console also are fully operational on the challenge cars as it runs the standard engine electronic systems so it needs them present to work. I’ve been working on 360 & 430, and later on the 458 & 488 challenge cars for over 10 years so know them pretty intimately if you need any info.
    I’d also guess that the fuel tanks in that will be well out of date by now so worth looking at before he takes it on track or the road no matter what.

  • @TonyB66
    @TonyB66 4 года назад

    Yes you should take the challenge on or turning it in to something road legal, would love to see it.
    Will need some adjustments to the suspension to make it a bit more useable on the road I think. Lift 10-15 mm.
    Handbrake and lights look like the biggest challenge but I’m sure you can do it. Custom rear silencer is entirely do able and the car will have to pass noise tests for track day use which can be difficult on some tracks especially in the UK, 105db is usually the upper limit on track days.

    The more I watch this channel, the more apparent it gets that literally the only differences between all the fast versions of the 360 and the stockones is a flash a tune, and some stripping out crossed with abit of carbon fiber thrown in for good measure, like if this car didnt have a ferrari badge on the front end, I bet most people would have done all of this and these things would have a tuning culture like a supra

    • @360trev
      @360trev 4 года назад +1

      On the surface they look quite the same by design but dig more and they are worlds apart, thousands of part differences including over 250kg weight loss. Different brakes, suspension, wheels, interior, composite body panels, fuel system (carbon tanks, race fueling system), emissions systems, etc etc etc. Even engines where blue printed, etc. The differences are way more than you'd imagine and they drive like totally different cars which ofcourse they are.

    The Stardman has a road-legal F430 Challenge, so I guess it could be possible. You need to check if the car has a VIN as that might cause issues (911 GT3 Cups don't come with a VIN as far as I know so you cannot make them road legal). Also the airbags will probably be a pain. The rest should be doable.

    I looked into buying a 360 Challenge several years ago. I was thinking of doing something similar so I would be able to street it if desired. The problem with the car was it did not come with a title and it had a non-standard VIN, which was going to prevent me from getting a title. It would have been a track car only.

    • @ericl452
      @ericl452 4 года назад

      @R A You may be correct. I was trying to get the title in South Carolina. I know each state is different. The other problem was getting insurance. After hitting a couple of obstacles, I gave up. I ended up buying a 911 instead.

    Should've never added that clip of the 512 getting loaded on the truck.. Everyone wants to know. In terms of this (race car to street legal race car) conversion, it depends on too many variables you haven't given us. What country is it intended to be licensed in? Does it already have a VIN number? What are the laws where the car is at? You can change what you want on the car to make it street legal, and I think it'd be awesome, but it depends on the laws, not so much the car :) look forward to more updates :)

  • @h1jjy

    If anyone can Ratarossa can 😁 Vin issues aside (who wants a Q plate 😔) there's quite a lot more work than people would expect to do a useable road legal conversion on any challenge car. The parts are thankfully interchangeable with a Modena so having a good relationship with a breaker will pay dividends. A stock Challenge car was decatted from factory (they look same but are normally hollow) and all ecus are calibrated for catless operation so impossible to pass emissions without magic ecu work. Thankfully I can help here so when the time comes get in touch. Dash doesn't have road legal illuminations required, etc etc. Tonnes of work to be done if you want to do it properly.
