Hello There, Yes, it is an ESU Micro sound decoder with the class 50 sound set burnt on, as supplied by South West Digital. I have achieved it by taking two class 50 locos, stripping the motor and linkage out of one so that it free runs - and installed the speaker in the space vacated by the motor. I split the cables to the speaker and installed a 2-pin microplug - supplied by DCC supplies, which fits neatly in the same space as the loco couplings, and the chip is hardwired...
... into the "driving" loco, with connection to the motor and pickups, as any standard DCC hard-wire installation, and the other end of the connection out to the speakers, and Bingo!
