  • Starting a new sewing business? How about a handcraft business? This video will give you tips and important details on how to start a sewing home business. There are important things you need to know; how to start, licenses, compliance, selling, etc... Here is a DIY to a money making, cash sewing small business.
    I hope you enjoy.
    Thank you for watching!
    ____________________
    I started the channel in October 2020 as a way to help my remote learning students with sewing from home. I made sure they all got a machine (their own or a loaner from the school) and a package of materials and supplies. It was a big undertaking but worth it.
    When I realized that there were RUclips viewers that wanted to watch my content, so I branched out and started making other videos to share some of my knowledge. Please comment on any of the videos to tell me where you are from and/or let me know what kind of content you would like to see.
    So now, we are all on a sewing journey: it could be my students, it could be my children, it could be my sewing journey...but it's definitely your sewing journey. I hope you join me every week.

    Here in the US it's called a DBA (doing business as) and you can get it at your local county clerk's office.

    Hi, Amy. Interesting. Lots to consider. It's more than just simply looking at your creation and saying "I could sell these...". It's all the minutiae (that is, the important stuff) you have to plan for to be successful. It's going into a business with your eyes wide open. Thanks for the heads up. From Cheryl in AZ.

    Not to be a Debbie downer, sharing with your Facebook family will open your eyes to some red flags in identifying those who are really open to supporting you. More often than not, a total stranger will support your business as oppose to your family friends. Now this is true for my family, please save comments if this doesn't apply to you. By no means should you give up. You will get a steady rhythm flowing.

      Isn't that just the craziest thing, I know it's true. Myself I think I'd support my friend or family..I just don't understand, even if no money is involved they still don't. No judgement, just agreeing even though it confuses me(and has hurt my feelings pretty bad) but you gon on! Good luck to you 🤗

    Ontario eh? It’s me the one that was asking you about the pajama bottoms video anyway… I used to live in Ontario for many many years. And I just bought some really cute fabric for those pajama bottoms and I’m hoping that I can make a nightgown for my mother who still in Toronto

    • @yoursewingteacher1729

      If you check the video, it will show you. Mostly locally sourced bags, low footprint, eco products, as well as custom wares. I have two labels - sewecocanada and yanoversyardage.
      I’m currently in treatment for cancer so everything is on hold(unless someone wants to buy old stock)

    Could you cover how to get paid on line. PayPal? Ect I have no clue to how to go about that

    • @yoursewingteacher1729
      @yoursewingteacher1729  2 года назад

      Great idea. I can go into this at length on my next live. But with my website, which is Shopify, people can use any credit card or visa debit. At craft shows I use a “Square”, which allows people to use debit or credit. And with sales from FB/Instagram, I use PayPal or etransfer.
