The cones wear at the top from friction with the mesh head. You can glue a small piece of stiff foam to the top and it works great. The proper measurement is this. The top of the cone should be 1.5mm above the top of the bearing edge of the shell. place a straight edge across the shell and measure. Too short and you lose sensitivity. Too tall and it's too sensitive. Cut the foam, use a bit of rubber cement. Done !!

I refurbished these pads only half a year ago, this is why they look so clean. This pad has be dissembled completely and washed:D

So which Roland pads have triple cone triggers? or did they just update all in their pad line?

I replaced my pieizo cone, but now the drum registers every hit as a rim shot. Any idea what's wrong?

I didn’t even know you could buy Roland cones separately. If I was building an Edrum, using of the diy methods you’ve made videos of before, would a Roland cone be a good choice? Or is a ufodrums cone better for that application?

William Clontz They are hard to get honestly. I would only buy them for original pads. For DIY I would always use DDT and R-drums cones, as DIY systems are height adjustable. Ufodrums seems a bit cheap looking to me. I also doubt they use the right foam.

Tip for anyone having a hard time looking for the right cone material: Make the cone out of a pencil eraser (just trim one). Sponge-like material didn't work for me.

Yes, parts are difficult to now buy through Roland without 'service'. Vancouver had a Roland shop: one could parts, like cones, sensors to LCD screens, (and all lines of gear) & if they couldn't release a copy, you could view schematics. (repair sales & or DYI vdrums, may have played a role in this marketing change) I'm long in need of new cones, & fear issues with knockoffs. Dont wish to layer adhesive etc to improve contact etc.

Hi, do you know if there is a performance difference between a PD 128 and a 128s for using as snare, as the 128 Roland says is for tom , but it looks the same to the PD128S except for the tom braket in the 128 without the S, Than you very much.

adthinzad I wish, cause then I would not have paid 12€ per trigger cone but get them sponsored. On the other hand I would not be able to tell you to buy the older mesh heads as they are cheaper and the same;)
