E39 hood won't open

The hood latch did not release the hood on my 1999 BMW 528i. Here's the way I was able to gain access.

This is much easier on LHD if the connection from the wing to the hood is broken. Everything is opposite on RHD and access to the opposite side latch is about 10% what you see here. It effectively completely unsighted and you have to do it in reverse to this.
But kudos for managing to film what you did 😎
