    You guys helped someone!!!! Just watched this with my 76 yr old dad. He refuses to pay $6200 to remove a piece of plunging hose that got stuck in the pipe and possibly repair a section that appears broken on the plumbers camera. I really hope that our journey goes as smoothly as this video... Regardless you guys should know that you did help somebody who is facing this daunting task!

      Same. Old timer came out and dug up our pipe and busted it. Then dug some more and said he was going in to town to get parts to fix. Storm came in and froze up for 1 week. So then he was AWOL and could not get in touch with him so I did it myself.

    The schedule 40 is thicker and there will be a ledge for debris to catch on when you butt it up to the thinner pipe which is made for septic fields. it's a thin wall.

    Thanks!! I clipped my drain with a trencher putting in electric for an outbuilding. Hardest part looks like the digging, especially where I am with hard pan. This looks like it'll be as good as new or nearly as good . . . good enough.

    If you watch the video where the old pipe they took out has the same rubber fernco that they used to repair. You will notice that fernco is sagging. That's what happens they aren't meant for underground. You have to use a fernco with a full stainless strap. Not knocking you guys. Just don't want someone else to make the same mistake. A little sag is going to cause that pipe to clog & break either the fernco or pipe. Since there is no pressure on sewer pipes a little sag will clog it.

    I hate to be a blow hard but I also worked for my dad in what they call on LI, the cesspool business and whenever he laid septic lines he always placed a hard wood or cement block under joints so the won't settle too much.

    Great Video. You may have saved me a ton. I have an house built in 1969. What type of pipe would normally be in my house? If it is iron or something besides pvc can I still replace the pipe with pvc the way that you two guys did?

    • @rapidtronics
      @rapidtronics  3 года назад +2

      Yes you can do the same exact thing! Just be careful when cutting your old pipe! Not to shatter it or crumble it

    I had 3 trees taken out and of course the stump grinding damaged the leach lines
    My question is why is your discharge somewhat clear waste water and I have small pools of black septic waste water?
    Is that somewhat normal?
    Thanks

    Hi, am in a dilema just like the one you faced.
    A sdction in my front yard is completely saturated amd muddy. It been this way for about 8 plus more months. It hasnt been an issue untill now. So the other day o started digging becuase i could stand seeing the puddle. Once i did that i noticed lots of funky water just running, but my septic tank is all the way up top of my house amd leach field is off to the side. Afyer watching thisbvideo it makes me think that yhere couldnbe a broken pvc pipe and its been gone unoticed untill now. What made you guys search for that break ?

    I am new to this and have a question. Wouldn't you worry about the rubber fittings rotting or eroding? Is there a more permanent solution?

    • @bassically1220
      @bassically1220 Год назад

      Those ferncos are wrong underground. They don't rot but they do fail. Use fernco with full stainless strap around it. Some people like to dump a bag of concrete around them too but it's overkill.

    Question for the interweb...? I dug my tank up the other day to get pumped because it wasn't pumped for 50 years. I got it pumped and found that the outlet baffle was destroyed so I got a nice pvc one from a reputable company. I inserted it and it cracked my outlet line. I was told to patch it and backfill it...but, me being me, I feel like I should dig a ditch and replace it... what do you think?

    • @rapidtronics
      @rapidtronics  Год назад +1

      Sounds like the outlet line could be old and brittle and could cause problems in the future.. I’d recommend replacing if you can afford to.. But also get a second opinion from someone local!
