Hi, I have got questions. If I swap the head using with the same model and first 3 digits, but a different firmware, will I have a problem with recover my data? If I find the same firm can I be able to recover my data??
@@chris01479 Hi. I'm not a hdd expert but I have one seagate 3TB which died a couple days ago and I'm in process to try to recover it. I already tried a new board with the same old bios chip on the new board, but no success yet. Next step is try to buy another similar disk to replace the heads. So my suggest to you is, check if the new board has the same model number (printer near the sata pins). Also, remove the old bios and put it to the new board.

@@angelcomputech8613 Oh right, if I replace the head that come with the same make, same model, same gb and first 3 digits of serial number but different firmware, will it works and can i be able to access my data??
@@angelcomputech8613 If I replace the heads, can I be able to get access to my data if I use hddsuperclone to back up the data and put them onto another drive to see if I can get the data back??
Angel, thank you for your video. I went for it and took a chance. I bought a $9 hard drive exact same one and I did the head change. Unfortunately, after the replacement, my HD is still doing the same thing. the disk spin and the heads flicker for 20 seconds and quits. What can I do?
This video isn't for fixing a hard drive, but rather destroying it. 2:10 At this exact moment, he completely destroys the hardrive and the heads. The heads cannot be swang across the plater while its off because when a hard drive is cllsed and spinning, it creates an airflow which keeps the heads from touching the platter, but still, its a really small distance, 10x times smaller than a human cell, so the moment the platter is damaged even the slighthest scratch, its done for.
Also, it is needed a head separating tool so the heads dont touch eachother while they get removed. As you cn see at 3:32 , the heads are touching eachother, so now they are all misaligned
Apart from the clean room, flipping in and out the heads into the platters that way without parking them into a proper headcomb (look it up on Google), it will most likely damage them.
agreed. There are some small pieces (metallic or plastic) created to fit on these heads, preventing the heads to touch each other, also keep them in place, also a pin you lock the piece on the arm. So just after, you can remove the entire piece and making sure the small heads are just in place and in safety. These little pieces used to be called "ramp set" or headcomb as you said. I'm not sure if there's a proper name to it.
Some things almost NO ONE will tell you about recovering data... because all most people will take in mind is cash! If you don't have a clean room, you can create yourself a small box sealed with a window, lights inside and a high efficiency filter, using some fans or a vacuum cleaner to create positive pressure, in the same way you put only filterer air inside. There's a lot of ways to create this box, on where you can put your disk, your tools and work with safety, preventing dust or particules to sit over the plates...
@@angelcomputech8613how to get these replacement heads as I have a problem with this head too on my external hard disk. The discs have no damage just the head is clicking due to a fall from my desk accidentally.
You were very careless with the platters. I don't think this process is good. Don't follow this tutorial. Also, I don't think the heads should touch each other like that; a spacer is required last time I checked.

You can only do it if you build a small clean sir enclosure chamber, but the only problem is that you need the tools to get your data back which it will cost $10k so it I'd not worth it.
This guy does not know a thing on what he's doing. Only attempt if you want to destroy the data on the drive because you will surely destroy it if you did what this guy did. 1) Doubt he's doing this in a clean environment considering the issue in #2. 2) Not wearing any gloves (he touched top platter several times in several places). 3) Most destructive of all - swinging the head arm across the platters with the drive off. 4) Swinging the new heads again scratching them and the platters again.
Agreed. But not only an entire room. You can create a kind of a sealed box / chamber, with a proper air filtering system (in / output), also with a window of glass or other material like acrylic, so you can see while operating your hands inside the box. Check YT for videos and you'll find out more. The filter have to be some like hepa filter. You can use a vacuum cleaner or some fans. The pressure can be negative or positive. The important is to make the air goes through the filter before going into the box. The idea is quite simple.
@@bruno-sorocabayes that's correct, you can also build use woodboard to with hprea filter which I prefer it. But the only issue is that how can I recover my data without the tools??
