This is the end of Nightwish's concert.
21.10.2005 in Hartwall Areena (Finland, Helsinki) Nightwish played his last concert with Tarja.
After this concert Tuomas gave Tarja a letter which was written by Holopainen but signed also by the other band members. They decided that it's best to continue Nightwish without Tarja.
22.10.2005, one day after this awesome show, on the band's official website was posted the same open letter which the group gave to Tarja one day before...
So... You can see that on this concert only Tarja's feelings are true and only her behaviour is natural and sincere... The other members of the band they knew all the time that this show is their last one with Tarja and after this they'll give her a letter which will finished one stage on NW history...

2020 and I still cry ... NW died to me in this day. Not because Tarja isn’t with them but the way they took her out of the band. “ Character “ is everything in this life.

there are many amazing singers, Floor is certainly one of them, and in some songs maybe even fits Nightwish better, but no one can replace special aura and magic Tarja had, she was just radiating something

@mayaamis I liked Floor when she in After Forever, not after. I liked Tarja in Nightwish before the Century Child album in 2002, not after.
Now I listen to Rain Fell Within and Autumn Tears with Desiree Dawn and Laurie Ann Haus instead, which is sort of like early Tarja era Nightwish without Broadway and Disney influences.
12 years later and this 3:35 minutes are still sad to me, I'm cool with Nightwish having Anette or Floor as their singer and I love Tarja as a soloist but the way this concert ends gives me a lot of feels, and that's probably never going to change.
Years later, I STILL think nobody is gonna be able to replace Tarja. The band became what it is in this formula, when it became great, she was there. To me, Nightwish will always mean these people here.

Thomas expression shows that HE KNEW, that Nightwish would NEVER EVER BE THE SAME AGAIN WITHOUT TARJA. And even with Floor, its not been the same ever since. 😳
It won't ever be the same and it's not suppose to be. And even if Tarja would come back it wouldn't be the same; the music has changed. And I also feel that even Tarja is a great singer, Floor is more versatile and she has more to give to that Nightwish we know now. Tarja era was amazing and it will always be.
@TheGsxstage1 Tarja is like a fine wine for special occasions. Floor is an excellent gin you can have pure or mix with stuff for any occasion.
I still enjoy Tarja's beautiful voice colour.
Floor has less of that, but much more versatile choice of styles.

Nightwish post Tarja became a band which is in the major league like Rammstein, Slipknot, Metallica, Iron maiden
They are now headliners at major festivals
With Tarja they had only one fan-base target
With Floor they have lots of targets

Tuomas, Jukka, and Emppu clapping to their fans!! Marco thanking them so close! How amazing! Tuomas got very close to them as Emppu and they were amazing with them. How respectful of them and it is extremely noticeably that they composed and compose music with their heart! Tarja was also very smiley. Any artist should know that they are what they are because of their fans, so being respectful to them is the least you could do as they will support and love you forever. I adore Nightwish and I will always support the artist that have been there mainly because they share their heart every time they compose and perform. NIGHTWISH IS FOREVER!

No tarja was actually leaving already before they sent the letter.
@@reyseledio2323 Yes, but she thought they are going to part with another tour and that they all will be transparent and fair about it, with plenty of time for everyone to adapt to it. This was far from it. And Tuomas was the one who didn't want that to happen, but to make Tarja feel as bad as possible...
@Kanashimi I wouldn't fire them all of a sudden, while I kept silent about the way I feel and think before it. Certainly not announce it to the whole world in parallel, too, plus bash her in interviews afterwards and in the book which she was supposed to contribute to earlier, but cut her off from that, too. They didn't even tell her anything, but just gave her the letter silently and ran away like cowards.

I love listening to all eras of Nightwish. They are different and all hold a special place in my heart. Now I do have something to say about the lead singers. It doesn't matter how it happened, it happened. It was a divorce, she admitted she wanted to leave after the next album, and they decided it was best to have a fresh start early. That's their choice, and one the band is living with until this day.
Now for the fans this is how I see the singers and the relationship. Metaphorically.
Tarja - the first wife/true love: when the "marriage" fails they seperate.
Annette - is the rebound relationship.
Floor - the second wife, and like most second wife's the some "family" ie fans have built a relationship with the first wife don't warm to them.
Without Tarja there is no Nightwish, without Nightwish there is no Tarja, they made each other.

I love Floor , but after all this time...I still miss Tarja and I will always! There are no words and no time to explain how marvellous and great she was , but there is no Tarja Turunen without nightwish and nightwish without Tarja is another band.
They were one for all and all for one! Original Nightwish exists now only in our memory.

@@Mad9977 I'm sorry but I have to disagree. Now days Tarja basicly rapes the Nightwish songs that she sings in her own gigs. Sounds harsh but it's just awful.
@@venla5375 well these are also Tarja's songs, of course she can use them, no "rape" and the songs sound as they should. Floor needs to sing her own songs, not re-use Tarjas or Annettes.

@@Mad9977 I didn't say that Tarja shouldn't sing them at all. And even this wasn't the point - songs of Nightwish are songs of Tuomas. Being singer of Nightwish means you are "allowed" to sing all Nightwish songs.
I said that very many times when Tarja is singing Nightwish songs it sounds awful. I did listen "Tarjas" Wishmaster and I was happily surprised, it did sound great! But many times when she sings Ever dream for example... it's just NO. If we go back to Tarjas era in Nightwish, she did sound great in albums, but some point in 2003-2004 she started to sing some songs in weird and awful sounding style. And that weird sound has just got stronger when she sings Nighwish songs in her own gigs.

People beat Tuomas for it all without ANY consideration that the other 3 were in on it too and Tarja didn't took Nightwish seriously and saw her self bigger than the band. Whatever the motives I feel Tarja have responsibility too to why it ended even if it could've been handled better. Still love her though and the Nightwish with Floor going strong as ever and I feel she will surpass Tarja as a singer and member if she stays a few more years to me. Floor has been the best thing for the them since Tarja. Really been a great lift for Nightwish.
Personally I prefer the lineup Tuomas, Marco, Jukka and Floor over respectively with Tarja.
The band was divided in two because Tarja wanted less gigs than the boys. Tuomas had much more to do with the boys as they composed the songs together, and Tarja also lived in Argentina and Germany the later years. It's no wonder Tuomas and/or Nightwish agents got all their names under the letter, considering they were divided in two camps. But the letter was still biased, misleading with half-trues and demonizing.

People that abandon nightwish just because tarja isn't there anymore are not real fans in my eyes. I loved the band with tarja, anette and now with floor. Always a fan of the band no mather who sings the songs. It's about the music.
Everything what is beautiful don't last forever! Nightwish is stop to exsist for me when Tarja is gone from bend. They was the best conbination ever. They will stay in my most beautiful memories!

It's just sad, y'know.. Thinking that the guys' tired and happy faces after the most beautiful concert I've saw so far, they were hiding the thought of leaving Tarja behind..

Imagine how Nightwish would have let them down massively, had they told them beforehand? Nightwish is all about respecting their fans. Tarja never respected the fans. And the letter posted on the internet was only to cut the wings of all evil rumours, they wanted to be upstraight and honest. Also to their fans, not only Tarja.

OMG!! I wasn't even there and I'm crying at home!! So amazing!! TARJA FOR EVER!!!!!!
They all lost the magic-that little chemical reaction between Nightwish's music and lyrics combined with Tarja's amazing voice. The songs in the albums from Angels Fall First till Once can/could send you flying, while DPP and Imaginaerum are...you pick your favorites, but that's all. They do not influence you as much as before, that's all. But you can't say that Anette is a bad singer, she just has a different singing style, more popish.
i almost cried... it's such a pity... old nightwish used to be the best of the best... i will always keep their memory alive and safe (from all the present nonsense), with all my heart...forevermore...

I believe the title "End Of an Era" was planned just Tarja doesn't know that.. "End of an Era" marks the end of Tarja journey with Nightwish and also the end of real Nightwish for me, I have lost interest since Tarja quit following by Jukka and last year Marko left the band, nothing interesting anymore 😪

Gosh ... everytime I watch or listen to this special goodbye and see the ppl cry I always think that they were totally unaware of the fact, that they had the last chance to see the band in this unique constellation. Could myke me cry since I made the choice at that time to also visit Nightwish one day. Bad luck

luckily we now have floor, a true successor with a even wider range in her voice. Im still missing tarja from time to time but floor is so damn great.

Honestly, I used to ask myself this same question especially when they hired Anette, I thought Nightwish would never be the same. Then something happened, something glorious and amazing, they kicked Anette out and eventually hired Floor as their new lead singer, since that happened I like Nightwish more now than I ever did before even with Tarja. I think Floor sings all of the old stuff and new stuff beautifully and powerfully. I still love the Tarja days and live them over again through youtube videos but I find Nightwish new stuff even better and with Floor at the helm I really look forward to future albums.

Lots of people like Tarja and lots of people like Anette. It's a matter of taste, but firing Tarja is a tough decision the guys made a long time ago, respect that and move on. Remember that they will always respect each other as artists, but if the relationship was endangering the band's continuity, something had to be done. I'm sure if they hadn't, Marco wouldn't be in the band right now or even they would've probably disbanded after DPP.

I was sad tarja left the way she did but she was against all nightwish stood for so did her husband. It needed to be done. I know if things need to get done it has to.
True! She hadn't even spoken to the guys in ONE YEAR. She only showed up to the concerts and the recording. She had made clear that this was her last tour and how she would leave NW to concentrate on her solo career.
In the end Tuomas got two ultimatums: Tarja telling she would drop them with a day's notice when they least expected it - and the guys telling Tuomas that if Tarja is not fired, then they will all leave the band. She was that impossible to work with.
if you guys read some of Marcelo's responses about her relationship with the band there had been a lot of tension between tarja and the rest of the band (in particular with Holopainen though), its surprising they managed to stick together for as long as they did...
personally i follow Tarja too, ofc i wish Nightwish all the best, but i feel Tarja's voice was very important to the bands sound, and in my opinion it separated them from most other metal acts

Nightwish no ha muerto. Como otras miticas agrupaciones del rock ahora metal en sus distintas derivaciones y tipos, Nightwish fue y es un icono un antes y un despues en lo que a metal se refiere. Gracias por haber existido NIGHTWISH.

A few sad things struck me here. Every member exept Tarja knew what was about to happen. I feel for her. Allthough she can't really blame anyone else because she acted pretty wrong. And that it really shows that Jukka has a major problem with his back. He can't bow properly. And I miss him. No offence to Kai but Jukka has a cooler style.

@adrianobolzan Nightwish was dead long before 2005. It was more dead in 2002 after Nightwish got a male vocalist for their 4th album Century Child. I liked their first 3 studio albums plus their live recording From Wishes To Eternity.
Since then I've moved on to Rain Fell Within and Autumn Tears as they remind me of Nightwish but more atmospheric doom and neoclassical metal without the power metal, Broadway, and Disney influences of Nightwish.
Dawn Desiree and Laurie Ann Haus(Rain Fell Within and Autumn Tears) (solo material).
Heidi Paravenien(Amberian Dawn only).(Amberian Dawn similar to Nighwish with power metal influences but without Broadway or Disney influences-more Finnish or Nordic metal influences).
Tarja(1st 3 studio Nighwish albums)(1 Nightwish live album From Wishes To Eternity).
Floor Jansen(After Forever only).
On my Nightwish concert this year in March I cried when it was over. They are such a great band love them!

Tuomas has admitted that the way they fired Tarja was very unrpfessional. What happened was going to happen sooner or later, but the way it happened was bad.

it is so ironic - although it is definately no coincidece - that it was called "End of an Era" and that this one line read: "Nightwish - And this is it!"
It's just so unbelievably sad, I was crying the whole 3 and a half minutes through... Oh god, Tarja, we love you, Nightwish, I beg you, take her back, please, your music is nothing without her!!!!!

It is hard to believe that after this ending Tarja said goodbye... They all there cry, tell me why I shouldn't? Tarja took the soul of the band with her and I really pity them the way they are now...
I wish you all wouldn't bash Tuomas for this, it is his band after all. We all shouldn't be upset with him for it still, what's done is done, and we can't just say that there was no good reason to fire her. He had his reasons and most of you haven't been in the same position as him, I know I haven't.

An era died in me......so fuckin sad that Marcello could fuck up her mind so to sacrifice a beautiful thing for gain.....broke my heart.
That's not what really happened. Marcello nor Tarja never asked more money. They asked Nightwish to cut the amount of gigs, because Tarja couldn't do five gigs a week. So when there was small gigs, Marcello might say that they aren't interested doing that gig - exactly this happened with the Oslo gig they mentioned in the open letter too, Marcello published his e-mail exchange - and Tuomas and/or Nightwish's agents explained it as greed.
And BTW Tarja did come and sing in that Oslo gig, thing the oepn letter left unsaid - the letter was full of misleadings and things left unsaid, and I can understand why Tarja will never forgive it.

this is what you can read on their official site.. "After the last concert, Tuomas, Emppu, Marco and Jukka fired Tarja Turunen, and her manager Marcelo Cabuli. The reason for this was because during the Once Tour their attitude and actions had turned out to be against almost all that Nightwish represents" who knows! still I LOVE HER! SHE IS GREAT!

To me, Tuomas's lyrics are the main reason I listen to Nightwish. They are so poetic! Tarja knew how to bring them, and they both lost a bit of their 'magic' without each other. I support both eras.I'll always prefer Tarja, but I'm absolutely no Anette hater, Imaginearum is just amazing. Can't wait to see them in april.
