Awesome work, the epoxy handle looks so clean

It was a lot of fun experimenting with the fully-epoxy handle and something I will 100% be doing more of in the future. It just adds a new dimension to something most of us have but never consider, and man does it look cool! Thanks for watching!

Thanks! It was fun pulling it together (twice), and a great end result.

I feel your pain! I build nets, too, and learned that steam time is crucial to a successful bend. I steam the strips for 1.5 hours and have never had a problem since. Nice work!

Sadly, I have broken my fair share of beautifully-figured hoop strips because of this issue and have finally broken down and started piecing together a PVC steam box. No cracks, no mold/mildew/--just good solid steam. I'll do a head-to-head comparison in the future, so stay tuned!

@@RiverbendWoodworks My steam box is getting warped, craked and leaky too. I was thinking the same thing. I look forward to seeing the video. Merry Christmas!

I use 1/16 inch strips and I have yet to need a steam box I know there’s a lot of stress in the material with this method but they bend even and no issues over a couple years. 🤞🏻fingers crossed but it’s so much quicker. Also, ripping them myself on the table saw is 1 dangerous and 2 for every strip you cut you loose a blades width, I reached out to ocooch hardwoods , they ship them perfect to my door ready for glue up at a good price.

@@almightybot3176 that is a really good plan if steam bending is not an option. Just need to have an adhesive that has a longer open time and you're all set!

Would you be willing to share or recommend your source for the net baskets you use in your projects? Thank you again for another amazing project video

Looks like they could be Nomad Nets. I build nets out of Canada and use them. They are great nets!

Absolutely! I have updated the video description with the Amazon link to the basket that I used in the video. It is a very nice quality and came with the braided tie-in line and a blunted needle for threading it. That's a fantastic add-in and I will use them in the future for sure.

who makes those little sanding sticks and the mini rotary tool motor you were using? those both look super useful. the mini motor looks really controllable.

They are literally called the “Sanding Detailer” set on Amazon. There are 4 grit pens included and a bunch of extra sandpaper rings. I made a RUclips short on them a bit while ago and they’re still proving super helpful. I think they only cost about $25.
The rotary motor is the Strong 202, and I got it from Treeline USA. It’s sold in a few places, but Treeline is great to work with on all wood carving items.
