I saw the Toilet Boys a LOT in NYC circa 2000-2003. Mostly at Don Hills. They were an absolute phenomenon and the music was so heavy and well crafted. I remember seeing their debut album at Tower Records on Broadway, and if you look up that album cover, their faces were all so ugly and pretty at the same time I had to buy it. Sean is correct that a lot of legitimately awesome rock bands got shafted by the imploding of the music biz back then. Supagroup were also incredible and played with the Toilet Boys a lot. The Unband were awesome (depending on which night you caught them). Read Mark Ruffino's book "Ungentlemanly Repose" for a hilarious dive into touring in a rock band at that time. Sean need to pair up with a good writing partner and put out a book.
A mutual friend of the band hired me to mix a show in London in 2002. I recorded it onto DAT for them and they liked it so much that they overdubbed some guitar parts and it got released as the album 'Live in London'.
@@talklouderpodcast4537 I got given a copy too, I've not listened to it in years but I'll dig it out having watched the interview. I enjoy your show btw. 👍
