  • On April 4, 2017 Clarke MacArthur returned to the ice for his first game in 538 days. It marked the end of the scariest and most frustrating 18 months of MacArthur'a career.

This video made me realize how much I want Ottawa to win this year. From this to Anderson and his year, the Senators are nothing less than an amazing story.

Sens have been all heart. Win or lose in round 3, they've done amazingly well in my books. Respect.

Go Sens Go! No matter what happens this series, I will close my eyes with a smile on my face. I'm so proud of the boys and what they have been through this year. Clarke McArthur and Craig Anderson stories this year have been absolutely saddening and the adversity they both went through is unbelievable. I'm a proud Sens fan till I die. Play like you can boys all series long and you never know what can happen. Go Sens Go!! Giver hell boys. #ALLIN

This is incredible, so many emotional stories on this team, if the senators win it all, how amazing would that be for these guys + their families

Wow. As someone who is dealing with recovery from multiple concussions, this really hit home for me. What an amazing story. Hope he's hoisting the cup come mid-June..

The Senators winning the Stanley Cup would be the story book ending to an amazing year in hockey. Clarke MacArthur returning finally, Anderson playing on his head for his wife, Jonathan Pitre the butterfly boy who the city rallies around, Bobby Ryan breaking out and proving himself, Dion Phaneuf making a massive statement, lets not forget Erik Karlsson, one of the best players in the world playing through injury and leading his boys through all this. This team is a family.

As a Leafs fan, I naturally dislike the Senators. Anderson and MacArthur have been through a lot. The Senators are on a fairy tale run, having knocked out the Rangers and taking Game 1 against Pittsburgh. You're so close, yet so far. Go get the Cup.

So proud of you Clarke. Proud to have lived next door to you. Bring that cup to Lloydminster this summer. Go get 'em Clarke! #ALLIN

As a Bruins fan you'd think I'd hate the Sens, but I don't at all. I love them and I am overjoyed about Clarke and Anderson because it would be callousness not to care and to be vengeful and all that. I know about rivalries and all those things, but there's a time and a place where you put that aside and wish the best for your opponent when they go through a lot. I don't play sports, but I know about sportsmanship and that's what sportsmanship is. I am hoping we have a better end to the playoffs this season because I want something fresh and interesting a little sugar and spicing it up not just same old same old. I hope it's the Bruins, but seeing this I rest assured will be happy as long as it's a team that has battled off adversity.

My team is the Leafs but I also cheer for the Sens. I have gone to games in Ottawa and I like Dean Brown on the radio broadcasts. I thought the Sens were a playoff team at the start of the year but they would never win more than a round. The more this playoff goes on the more I believe they can win it this year. They only have one star but they have many really good players. Lots of depth at forward and defense. And Anderson in goal is really as good as anyone. I really believe they can do it. It would be great for Clarke and the rest of the players there. Bring the Cup to where it belongs.

I really hope the Sens win it all. They all deserve it. Ryan after being tossed out in Anaheim, Anderson and his wife, MacArthur and his comeback, Dion having to take a back roll due to criticism. This would be an awesome story.

We were at that game when Clarke returned. The second greatest moment was when my grand niece was given Clarke MacArthur's stick when he was leaving the ice. We had swapped seats in the third period. Somehow, I would think a little girl was more likely to get his stick than her Great Aunt. Thank you, Clarke.

Knowing what we know now about brain injuries from multiple concussions and their long-term effects, why would you even try to come back after all of those concussions... Knowing your name at the age of 50 is more important than playing hockey

5:01 the fact that a guy like Brad Marchand shook his hand and turned and likely said something like "you've done great man" shows the type of character that is involved in hockey.

Clarke needs to call it a day. It sucks to see him go because he is an amazing player, but I'd rather see him still be able to walk and not be brain dead or suffer any more severe brain injuries.

Ottawa is Canada's last hope. If the Penguins, my #1 team wins, then put all Canadian players back into Canadian teams and all will be good again. Make the NHL like the Olympics. Canada would appreciate it.

  • @maxlee6739

I get that he needs the job and loves the game but after those concussions he needs to retire. He can’t keep playing with those concussions. If you ask me he should retire and the NHL should take care of him and his family for the rest of his life. Even if his comeback is inspirational and shows his enormous love for the game it’s still ridiculously dangerous. Look at what happened to Paul Kariya. He’s on Oxygen for a certain amount of time a day and his intellectual tests have in in the top 25 percentile despite the fact he got into Harvard (but later went to Maine instead). It’s just not a smart decision.
