    Just trying to capitalise on the heavily discounted pre-lockdown, pre-registered stock that needs shifting quickly before the new lower production volumes arrive in the showrooms. Unfortunately it’s more or less impossible to book a short-notice test drive at the dealerships at the moment so am having to buy ‘blind’. There are plenty of reviews of these on YT, but I just wanted to say yours is extremely helpful - an honest, unblinkered, real world assessment of the ownership experience.
    The 420d M Sport in Sapphire Black arrives in 2 weeks - your review helped settle any lingering anxieties and now can hardly wait.
    Thanks again, it was invaluable.

      Cam Wat that’s one of the best comments I’ve received so thank you and I appreciate it! I’m glad my review had some sort of value and helped you out. It’s a good choice you’ve got there, so much better looking than the upcoming model too!

    Believe me in the rain and ice, the X-drive does come in handy. The RWD on a rainy day doesn’t even keep straight under acceleration, and that’s with a 20D engine.

    • @NathanMannin
      @NathanMannin  4 года назад +1

      Liam Clarke Cheers:) interesting choice there as in terms of cars they’re two worlds apart, depending how deep your pockets are I would love the 435d. 435d has the inline 6 cylinder engine which actually sounds decent for a diesel. Mega performance with a 0 to 60 time near 4.5 seconds, 470ftlb, 313 bhp and it’s a super smooth and refined engine with effortless low down torque. M sport variants on 4 series come with pro nav, Harman kardon, heated seats, electric seats and the sliding seatbelt pushing thing. So you get a lot more kit as standard with the 4 as apposed to the 125d. Obviously running costs will be more with the 4 though. Both are great cars, but in terms of value the 435d’s are as low as £13k on autotrader which is an absolute steal in my opinion. Depends how much mileage you’re looking at when buying one:)

    Honestly thought this was a great review. You’re quite naturally funny too which makes it more entertaining. I’m on the cusp of buying a 2019 420d MSport plus in Alpine white. No wireless charging and no X-drive. This has reassured me, cheers!

    • @NathanMannin
      @NathanMannin  4 года назад +1

      royceyraa Thank you, I appreciate the feedback and I’m glad my review helped! So if you go for the alpine white with the M sport plus package it’ll be somewhat identical to mine in this video. But from what I’ve seen, the 2019 4 series have this rear diffuser (not sure if it does anything) but aesthetically improves the rear a lot in my opinion. I’ve also seen some 2019 with the smoked taillights which I also think looks good, so maybe your 2019 4 series will have it 😁

      @royceyraa 4 года назад

      Ninnam hey man, no worries. Yeah I just checked it now and it does have the diffuser and smoked lights which look good (I didn’t even notice in comparison to yours! 😂) I think otherwise it is pretty much the same car, mine just has the black leather. Did you find it fun to drive? Enough power etc? Thanks for the reply

    • @NathanMannin
      @NathanMannin  4 года назад

      royceyraa Ah sweet, I think the lights and diffuser improves the backend so much so good on you!
      It’s sporty to drive and the more engaging when you compare it to the Audi A5 and Mercedes C class Coupe. Then of course you’ll have RWD as well. Not only that but it’s a comfortable experience especially when you’re cruising in the comfort setting. As for performance the 420d has plenty enough shove and punch for your daily needs. The instant low down torque will be enough for most situations when you want a quick overtake. Then the economy was alright, think I’ve averaged 45mpg : )

    • @NathanMannin
      @NathanMannin  3 года назад +1

      Thank you! I would say the 420d is definitely the better comfort cruiser and I would say looks better internally and externally. Better practicality, comfort, looks, Harmon/kardon sounds better than the lower models like the 1/2 series. Let’s not forget about the sliding seatbelt which is brilliant! I had xdrive which was amazing for the snow and helps in the wet, but better tyres can also help in the wet. Depending on your driving style could decide whether xdrive is a necessity for you or not. If you’re on the A5 a lot driving to Milton Keynes then I wouldn’t be too fussed about not having it. You can get it sideways on each of those million roundabouts they have going through MK 😉

    Due to budget I’m deliberating between getting either 4 series 420d gran coupe or 1 series 118d shadow edition. What would you recommend after driving two similar cars yourself? I’m looking to save some money through fuel costs as currently have a 1.6 petrol focus which is also £210 to tax per year where I see the 4 series is only £30. Just worried having a longer saloon style bmw may be a bit much for someone in their 20’s like myself or may look a bit flash lol. But the 4 series I’ve seen does come with the shadow edition alloys, leather seats, Harmon kardon audio and m sport trim and has better fuel economy and bhp than the 118d 1 series. Also are you parked at summerleaze beach in bude in your thumbnail by any chance? Cheers buddy

    • @NathanMannin
      @NathanMannin  3 года назад +2

      I think if they’re both financially similar then I would get the 420d. You get a lot more standard equipment in the 4 series especially if it’s an a M sport or M sport plus! I think they look great and much classier than the 1 series, love the way the tailgate is like a hatchback in the gran coupe. If you can I would test drive both, it’s been so long since I drove that 4 series so I can’t remember exactly. But I’m pretty sure it rides a bit better and is a little quieter in the cabin. I don’t think looking flashy for being in their 20’s is a bad thing, I loved it ;) I think with a m sport models on 4 series you also get heated seats and the big Pro nav screen as standard, front and rear parking sensors. So a lot more standard equipment compared to the 1 series, more practical, faster and looks better. I hope that makes your decision easier! I can’t remember the name of the beach but it was in Bude so you’re probably right! That’s amazing how you’ve managed to notice that :D
