Excellent step by step video. I'm picking up a Himalayan in July and hopefully it will be fully serviced, but when the next one is required I'll do it myself. I was expecting a Japanese style screw-on oil filter so the oil change was particularly useful. I liked your patient step by step instructions to your wife and the humour you both brought to the service.
Great job Jo. With that little help from Nick, you're good to go all alone on the next one. Unless you take on the habit of changing bikes when it's time for an oil change, like the one Nick got.
Very good 👍 It's good to show Jodie, but also to show people that may never have done jobs like this themselves, I recently have just started doing my own Servicing on my Royal Enfield Hunter 350, And I used your video on your Meteor 350 , extremely helpful Nick, I intend doing my own Servicing on my Interceptor 650 next year for its 6000 miles tappets, I've always done Oil and Filter ok, But now I do the Tappets, Great stuff 👌 If it's not getting you into trouble Nick, Very funny in parts as well, One Up for men's lib LOL 😅 Thanks, Cheers Paul Foster 👍
A fine service video. And thanks for showing all the tappet and torque specs. I actually copied them down so I don't have to search the next time I adjust things. In a few months I'll arrive at the 3000 mile service. Not sure whether to just take it to the dealer or do everything myself.
Thanks for the review I found on this bike, made me check for this vid. It is excellent. If she can do it, I should also be able to. Eyeballing a 700km 2023 model with some extra's, but the trader asks almost new. Might go for a new one when they discount them to make space for the new model.
Heyo first of all, loved the video, especially one that finally shows how to properly shows how to check the valves with the metal gages! That said i wanted to ask, what are you spraying on the oil screen and the bash plate to clean the oil away? P.s. You and your wife are an adorable couple, wish you the very best!
Hi Dave. The oil cooler is still full of oil and pumps straight into the engine, so there's no dry spell. There is always a small risk when soaking a filter that debris may stick to it making them the wrong side of the filtration. Something I have to think whats best when changing oil on various engine types and oil flow configuration etc. Nothing too serious, just my engineering mind sett, lol
@@nicksepisode That`s really helpful Nick and I was unaware that is the case on the Himalayan. Thanks for that and for taking the time to explain it. I love learning new bits like that. I soaked mine on my Classic 350, so I hope I didn`t do it wrong. Cheers and ride safe.
The new Himalayan 452 was released officially yesterday at EICMA 2023. Did you catch it. If not, I'm sure there might be some drool involved. 😆 The figure are almost a perfect 40/40. 40.2 on the HP and 40 on the torque.
Nice job but it's easier to adjust valves with a valve adjustment tool I got mine from Hitchcock's same procedure also if you dropped your socket while screwing the tappets down it could drop in .Again Nice Job Jodie
First of all. Special thanks to the Cute Safety Team to make this Episode possible. In the next Epsiode. Nick takes an full english while Jo Starts her Journey through Africa
why do some vids say how important it is to only turn the engine either clockwise or counter clockwise. when finding TDC. Ive seen some where they say how important it is to turn one way, when another says the polar opposite! Confused!
40:24 You did fine. You're not mechanically inclined, sadly, often as a society don't encourage women and girls to be so as they grow up. That being said, now that you have a study guide, next maintenance is 100% yours Jo!
@25:40..."On the button." The bike sounds great. Good job! 👍🏼👏🏼
I'm learning.
Cheers and thanks for the comments

Nice little light-hearted video Nick and Jodie. Surprised you didn`t soak the new oil filter, in clean oil first, before putting it in mate.
Hi Dave. The oil cooler is still full of oil and pumps straight into the engine, so there's no dry spell. Soaking it is fine as long as its in a clean environment
Very informative. I don't even have a himmy but watched it all! What is the fluid you sprayed to clean off the oil? Thanks
Hi, thanks for the compliment. The spray used is brake and clutch cleaner

when finding TDC which way do you rotate the crank? clockwise or anti-clockwise? Or doesn't it matter?
Normally clock wise. But on this bike anti clockwise due to the clutch configuration.
Do you drain the oil out first cheers. Novice. Great vid.
Do the oil last bud
Cheers. What make is that torque wrench please. ???
@user-cy6yc6tb3t cheap one on ebay
Does doing your own servicing invalidate the warranty?
It’s does indeed unfortunately, depends if you want to risk it. If you can service it yourself you’ll save hundreds
The hamalayan is supposed to have the fully sythetic 7100 oil ,not the semi 5100. Hold the can on its side then it wont glug out
Not this model
why do some vids say how important it is to only turn the engine either clockwise or counter clockwise. when finding TDC. Ive seen some where they say how important it is to turn one way, when another says the polar opposite! Confused!
You can turn it anyway you like if your spark plug is out, but sometimes going the wrong way can upset the clutch. Follow this video you’ll be fine
