NATO members are asked to aim for 2% GDP defense spending but Canada has chosen to punch above its weight class, to put quality above quantity, to be innovative and helpful and reliable, to have professional career soldiers with incredible training, to enthusiastically carry out NATO tasks, etc. So Canada sent 260 highly qualified instructors to train Ukrainian troops for 8 years, teaching them mission command and maneuver strategy which greatly helped them win the Battle of Kyiv. The U.S. sent 140 for a short while but it was mostly the 260 Canadians. There's obviously more than just a simplistic single number. It's too bad Sen Sullivan and DNI Avril Haines are offending an ally who has always helped them when all Western nations need to be sticking together. Maybe if Americans knew the many ways Canada was contributing, such as de-mining, as well as weapons, financial and humanitarian aid, we would have a more solid alliance. Because the Sullivan-Haines approach will only turn us against the U.S.
