I NEVER thought his stand up was funny. However, i love his showmanship. No one in the room would be able to do any routines or describe what he did cuz he was all over the place. I think he was stronger as a dramatic actor than a stand up.

So…I did a little research! It turns out that “The Great American Laugh Off” special stars a majority of the cast members of “Laugh-In 77”, if IMDB is accurate. Since the description says this special is a spinoff to Rowan and Martin’s Laugh-In, would this ‘technically’ be an unofficial pilot for Laugh-In 77? 🤔 The timeframes certainly match up!

Unofficial pilot, for sure. Our research tells us that it was a spinoff, in terms of taking some of the same behind-the-scenes talent and after showcasing some new up and comers, it may have been the spark that led to The New Laugh-In.
