- It appears a whole bunch of Marvel cards were stolen from someone's epak account. Yikes.

If someone was thinking of getting into collectables half the stories and videos they watched at this point post boom would be about fraud, theft, gambling, and scams. 😅
How in the hell did they afford all of that on epack? That’s almost as suspicious as the theft. To pull all of those greens, we have to be talking millions of dollars, right?
Video doesn’t touch on the buyer , who I elaborated on in more detail in mccw. The lawsuit mentions that they claim to have spent almost $5M on marvel cards in the past few years. Probably accurate.
"I don't know, I collect pictures of men encased pieces in plastic" as I nod in self realization
My guess would be the good faith purchaser rules are going to apply, unless they have evidence of collusion between the purchaser and this rouge employee. There is a non-negligent protection of the asset requirement as well, and if the employee was granted access and the purchasers did not collude the purchasers are going to come away with the cards.
that is generally correct; and there's a reason for the doctrine - an innocent purchaser should not be held accountable to unwind a transaction involving a thief selling innocent purchaser an item (I think this was put in place many moons ago years ago to protect pawn shops, but hey, who knows)
SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE BUYING BOXES ONLINE its garbage that one business can buy whole supply what complete garbage
So many questions. The price for all those cases. How do not notice Green PMG's missing from your account long enough for them to be sold off. Why is the employee still in the states.
Kudos to NEO C&C for breaking down the details of this story. Knowledge of this kind of stuff helps all of us in the hobby stay more alert and protected.
“I’m not a lawyer… I didn’t stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.” 😂
A few things to take from this:
You do have to wonder about the outside chance this could be an inside job if the buyer potentially spent millions but their stolen investment is worth 750K. But the odds are more likely that this was a genuine theft.
If you’re going to make a big money purchase on a card (or cards), do diligent research on the seller - unless they have a well established reputation in cards community already. No one wants to get caught in the web of this kind of mess, potentially having to return stolen goods and maybe losing the money they spent on the stolen goods.
At this point might as well collect NFTs
Is there a website that tracks what cards have already been pulled for a specific set (e.g. PMGs for Marvel Metal Spiderman)?
Vintage only guy here... Do all ya'all modern collectors know how effed up your end of the hobby sounds to us?.. Lottery game run by companies with lots of crooks in the mix...
Sigh. I agree with you. These modern collectors are all just gamblers. I only collected non-sport cards back in the 70's and early 80's. All I ever wanted to do was simply complete the damn set....it was as simple as that. And yes....I achieved my goals of doing that. Never had any sets of any REAL massive value....although a few of my sets now are worth some decent bucks. Since then, I've dumped MOST of my cheaper non-sport card sets (I do fleas and comic shows). I watch these sport card vids for sheer entertainment since I deal in collectibles (no sports stuff). What a pack of fucking clowns and scammers. I will say this though..IF I WERE to collect sport cards...it would BE ONLY vintage thank you and I sure as shit would NOT PUT that Kurt's spoom juice on my cards.
I wonder if someone will be able to offer a better guess on epack print runs for this product
Your employee sold them. They aren't stolen goods.
Jeez the whales do some work lol
this should be illegal you should only be able to buy up to 5 per account not all of it and sell cards at inflated prices that criminal that companie should be arrested too
😮
if you recieve stolen goods you lose the item and THE MONEY... THAT IS THE LAW
Even epack is not safe....I am going to start collecting images and reprints. Whats the point of attempting to even owning anything. It's all going to ZERO! LOL
lmfao only few buy buy Marvel cards and they look like whales buying stolen goods is serious offense criminal charges pending agaist most those buyers
No way thems kidos Marvel Cards worth that much
never!
lol
