I opened a hobby box of '23 Bowman Draft just after it came out and the third auto my son and I pulled was a Paul Skenes base auto. I sent it away to PSA and despite it looking perfect to me it got a 9. Skenes is a phenomenally fun player so I was planning on holding on to the card, but a month or so later I saw some crazy prices on ebay and decided to throw mine up there for 'crazy plus' just in case someone bit. A week later, despite me having offers enabled, someone bought it straight away for $900. I was sad to see it go, but I'm guessing I'll be able to buy it back in a year for a third of the value. Let's see if I can!
Wonderful videos, guys. Always enjoy them. Cheers!

He'll be much cheaper after his second TJ surgery but at that point you won't want to pay a real lot for it. For what it's worth Max Clark will be the chase card in that product over time. Skenes has been a real outlier because he scorched through the minors and went on with it in the majors but buying now is too risky. I'm certain you'll be able to get it for much less in a few years.

Pitchers often get hurt and miss a year and sometimes never come back the same or maybe they come back better than ever. Or maybe they just can't maintain their game for enough to be a starter and end up becoming a reliever. Pitchers are way higher risk than batters given equal ability in their craft. Best kid since Gooden.
    Gooden.
Does not have the same risks....he comes with different risks.
Hope he wins 500 games and Ks 4000, but the way pitchers have been used since their T-ball days makes me very skeptical of any pitcher's longevity...like DeGrom.

Skenes is probably the closest to Gooden we've seen. Just incredible. 1984-85 Gooden was unreal. Those 84 update rookies were like diamonds in NJ in the late 1980's
