So true. Wasn't much of a fan, but went to see them at the old docklands arena in London. To this day the single most mind-blowing thing I ever saw and heard. Went out and bought every album.
This is hard to watch for me. Those of us who saw the tour can never really explain the experience. Keep in mind, everyone in that crowd knew every word of the album "The Wall." They understood the context of the song and what to expect. But they did not. This performance live was (and still is beyond compare). The lighting effect simply do not come through on video, they don't. The stadium exploded in light coming at you from all directions in the pitch darkness. That reflector was the size of a three bedroom house. Towards the end when if opened up the crowd audibly gasped, you could hear it over the music which was ear shatteringly loud. I have attended 300 rock shows and the crescendo for this song (loudness) was hypnotic and has no equal in rock history. There are two guitar solos, the first one is amazing, but the second one is way beyond most rock solos that often devolve into rock guitar noodling, or duet guitar hammering. There is nothing like a jazz-like exposition and free-form mucking about, the second solo is constructed with care, beauty, simplicity, gut-wrenching rock motifs done so well that no one has ever come close to this since. Wagner himself would have stood and cheered in appreciation of this transformation of stage music into pure art, utterly transcendent.

In 1994 I went to see Pink Floyd pulse tour when I lived in Chicago at soldier field. My wife at the time surprised me with 2 tickets to my favorite band of all time. She got the tickets for $75 for 2. When we got to the concert someone outside asked me if I wanted to sell my tickets for $1200 cash.. and I told him no thanks, he said why?.. I’m giving you a lot of money here.. I said because tonight I get to see a God like play the guitar… and I walked away. In the concert at this song and the solo part it started to drizzle rain so softly that it became part of the music, as if God was feeling it to… after the concert we went out to eat and I told my wife we should spend the night here in downtown , so we got a great room even though we lived 45 minutes from the concert. So 9 months later my beautiful daughter was born named Sydney she’s going to turn 30 next year… thanks David for that great solo it did the trick. I will never ever forget that night. Please do same concert of High Hopes… it will blow you away… thanks. FYI I’ve seen them 3 times including the Wall tour.
I am one of the few people who were NOT there that night. But the song, and Floyd still blow me away. This is only one of thousands of concerts I have not attended.
I saw them in Birmingham, Alabama - of all places - and the crowd was transfixed then. David burning his guitar on Pulse album is the universe telling us THIS IS THE BEST THING EVER.
I was there that night, and they finished with, Run like hell, nobody did though. We sat for ages trying to digest what we had just witnessed. Still watch PF everyday.
Pink Floyd was always ahead of their time when it came to sonic innovation, music, and staging. They’re easily one of the most innovative rock bands that ever played. Floyd never followed trends. They created them.
Not only the best musical rock band but also the moat visual They were so far ahead of their time also thank you for not interrupting a David Gilmour solo
The worlds largest mirror ball (40 feet in diameter) opened near the end of the finally. The large mirror ball was a staple of a Pink Floyd show, this version took it to a new level when it opened.
Yeah that was a big crowd there in Earls Court in London. They sold that same venue out 15 nights in a row!! On another note not only is a Pink Floyd concert a stunning visual but they put speakers on the stage behind the audience on both sides of the audience and above the audience!! They pump 233,000 watts of power through their sound system and lighting for their shows but only turn up the volume a little over halfway for perfect sound with zero distortion! They basically create a giant set of perfect headphones for the audience!!!! I've seen about 100 concerts in my life from ACDC to led Zeppelin and everyone in between you could think of alphabetically!! I've seen Pink Floyd four times in three different decades and those were the four best concerts I've ever seen in my life!! Pink Floyd puts on an extraordinary show every time and as many people say it's not just a show or a gig it's an experience you'll never forget!!!!!
Thanks for the details on how they got that amazing sound - I saw another of the 1994 shows and it was like the audio skipped my ears and went straight to my brain - the loudest, clearest, non-directional sound ever!
I love your channel and your reactions! You did not break THE CARDINAL RULE of never interrupting a David Gilmore guitar solo. THANK YOU! ALL the songs from this amazing concert are absolute Gold. Please react to more. 😊
Pink Floyd was responsible for some of the greatest background of our teenage years. They made our "highs" reach new heights and made our lows not quite so lonely. Everyone of this generation can attach at least one Pink Floyd song to a poignant moment in their youth, which is what makes them endure over time. Many of us to this day are brought to tears at the chorus of Wish you were here. If you have not done a reaction to it, you will love it. There is also a video of two street performers in a train station in Ireland playing Wish you were here, that is beautiful!!! I hope you give it a try if you haven't! Cheers!
Super reaction. I was at this exact concert October 20th 1994 Earls Court, London and had tears in my eyes at the end. Simply the best musical concert I have ever attended.
Great to see your appreciation for this performance!!! I was fortunate to see Pink Floyd on this Pulse tour at The Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas in 1994. Had 18th row seats on the floor and it was an experience of a lifetime!! The electronic keyboards (synthesizers) started in the early 70s with progressive rock bands such as Yes, Emerson Lake and Palmer, and subsequently Genesis. Many bands have had amazing light shows, but none better than Pink Floyd. I highly recommend "High Hopes" and "Run Like Hell" from this same Pulse concert!!!
I actually loved Richard singing Waters part of the verses. RIP Richard.

I've been a fan since the early 70's. I was totally into Rock & Roll up at Humboldt State Univ. when I first heard "Dark Side of The Moon". I was hooked and had to wait until '94' to see them live at The Oakland Coliseum in California. When that enormous Disco Ball came down it looked like a UFO coming down to check out the show. When it opened up they shot lasers at it from all over the place and it turned the Stadium and all of us into a moving liquid plasma of bodies. At the beginning of the song there's a shot of the crowd looking down at the band and everyone is frozen to their seats with awe. My 9 year old grand son showed me RUclips for the 1st time, now I can relive that elation I felt 30 years ago. Shedmen56
Our generation was so into our music that we actually sat still to listen. Most at that concert, I’m sure, we’re from our generation. The 70”s kids. We listened intensely to the music and knew/know every note. So, I’m certain the audience was doing the same thing…taking it all in.
“Comfortably Numb” is a dialogue between two characters from The Wall, Pink and the Doctor, which Waters has said was inspired by two incidents. The first came when, as a child, he had a fever which induced a sensation of dissociation and distance; the second came prior to a Floyd gig in the 1970s, when a doctor injected Waters, who had stomach cramps, so that he could get through the show. He later told Mojo magazine that he was “rendered almost insensible”. Hence the lyric: “There is no pain, you are receding.” FT
Its so enjoyable to see someone listening to Pink Floyd and be totally engulfed, slightly smiling, and just enjoying the music, sometimes being in awe and generally appreciating the performance...
Pink Floyd was always ahead of their time. Their music was indeed a level above. They crafted some of the best music. In 1972 they released an album called Dark Side of the Moon. It landed on Billboard's top 100 and stayed there for over 900 weeks. Listening to Pink Floyd is an experience. Watching them live as in this video is something you will always remember because it is so precise and beautiful and creative. Another band you may like to check into is Rush. They are in the same realm as Pink Floyd in that they are pure. musicians that make music on a whole different level. For just an outstanding music delight is by a man names Teddy Swims. He is new. He had a huge song last spring called Loose Control. Excellent song.
Great choice. All the songs are great from this concert. I was there for two of the 14 nights that they played at Earls Court. Still the best concert that I have been to. Richard Wright on keyboard was one of the first to really experiment with synthersizers back in the early days of Pink Floyd
After putting my Lab down at the vet I came out to the car and this song just started playing. I sat there and cried like a baby. I’ll always think of Fred (being comfortably numb) when I hear this song.
I was at the Pulse concert in 1994 at Veterans Stadium in Philadelphia. It was the most greatest concert I’ve ever been to. And I’ve been to a lot since the 70’s. -- It was a huge disco ball over the crowd.
Great reaction. Floyd will always be associated with the Pulse concert, so many amazing songs. When you feel you're fully immersed in the 'emotion' of Floyd, then you should watch High Hopes from the same show.
These musicians are genius , this is a rock-progressive music , nothink is better than that , you listen the best gitarist of all times David Guilmour !
I "think" it was to represent a lotus blossom. Pink Floyd was not only ahead of their time, they are timeless. Masters of stage and studio. The inspiration for this song was a time when one of the band members (Roger Waters) unknowingly had hepatitis and got sick on tour. A local doctor diagnosed it as a stomach bug and gave him a sedative. By the time he went on stage he was so out of it his hands felt numb and swollen like 2 balloons, also a reference to how he felt once as a child with a 105F fever. He could barely play but the crowd cheered anyway so he was Comfortably Numb. I was around when these albums were released, long before this concert. I always love seeing the expression on the faces of those hearing them for the first time. Pink Floyd sounds better live than many bands do in the studio. But what Pink Floyd does in the studio is nothing short of magic. Might I suggest the studio version of Shine on You Crazy Diamond, parts 1-5 and 6-9. It was written as a tribute to Syd Barret, one of the founding band members that left the band due to a losing battle with drugs and schizophrenia. One of my favorite Pink Floyd songs is The Great Gig in the Sky (studio version with Clare Torry please). I guarantee you've never heard anything like it. Though ideally you should react to it as part of side 1 of Dark Side of the Moon. Possibly the greatest album of all time and meant to be listened to in 1 sitting. Well, 2 since in the day we'd have to get up to flip the vinyl... 😁
Re the light show etc. I saw them in Sydney in 1988 and it was no less brilliant than what you just saw. Mind blowing is the only words I can use to describe that concert. Pink Floyd were the ultimate in composition, both lyrics and melody and their concerts were unmatched. I love love love them.
The thing above the crowd was a disco [sucks!] ball reflecting light around the stadium. It later opened up to reveal a diamond (check out "Shine On You Crazy Diamond") which was a tribute to Syd Barrett, one of the founding members of Pink Floyd. Electronics in rock existed long before this concert, and had its heyday in the 1960s to 1970s. Groups were experimenting with what could be done with the electric guitar (a relatively new "invention" compliments of Les Paul) and also with the Moog synthesizer which came along and elevated what bands had already been doing with Hammond organs and similar instruments. The Beatles, The Who, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, and a slew of others (including Pink Floyd) were blowing up speakers and distorting amplifiers in the pursuit of new sounds. By the time the '80s rolled around -- and definitely the '90s when the Pulse concert was performed/recorded -- electronic music had pretty much been explored and perfected with nothing new left to discover -- with the exception of auto-tune... which has become the abomination and downward death spiral of all the good music that us old timers took for granted for three decades. On a side note, Pink Floyd's 'Dark Side of the Moon' album has been used as the de-facto standard to test (and compare) new recording standards as they emerged and evolved; with the original 16-track recordings (highly advanced in its day) remastered to vinyl records, cassette tape, CD and DVD, and now to lossless digital formats like FLAC. Pink Floyd continues to transcend time and space!
I read the mirror ball was in the form of an Orchid symbolizing rebirth by opening. I heard Gilmore say in an interview once he didn't know what it felt like in the audience during that song, but the band playing behind him was so full, he felt he could lean back into it. I wasn't at this show, but saw this tour in Detroit. I can't explain how incredible it was. This wasn't even the final song, Run Like Hell was. Thank God for RUclips, I can relive the whole anytime I desire.
Was there. An incredible concert. Can't but shed a tear at the end when the stage lights up again after the glutter ball has fully opened, so glad it was professionally recorded. I think the entire audience was stunned by the experience. The band members and crew touched a lot if souls that evening, thank you.
My favorite band ever - and David Gilmour is still going and his new solo album is killing it. RIP Rick Wright - can't believe he's been gone for 16 years already.
That “thing” over the crowd is the Mothership opening its doors to let you in to take you on the rabbit hole that is Pink Floyd. All are welcome but not all understand. It’ll be the trip of your life.
Great reaction !! Glad that you found this epic perfomance. Your comments shows you really absorbed all the aspects of this song . Sound, lights , lyrics and the music of course. Wonderful that " old " songs catches someone after 30 years Only wish I´d been there ( on the other hand I, might not survived ).
Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin are the True Masters of the craft of MUSIC! They do things that you never hear anyone else do. Ppl copy them and are inspired by them. True Masters!
Absolutely. Dire Straights' Sultans of Swing Alchemy live is also up there, but the difference in performance style is notable. Mark has incredibly overt "I'm having a great time" vibes while David has an equally incredible but different "I'm just into playing my guitar" feel. That's one of the nice things about musical greatness - it's not some one-dimensional scale, but a landscape of varied brilliance. Warren Zevon's "Run Straight Down" is definitely worth a listen. Someone could quite rightly choose to focus on Warren singing with his wonderful voice while various instruments play, or they could choose to focus on David's guitar playing throughout while the rest of the song almost blurs into the background. Personally, I went the first way quite a few times and payed much less attention than I should have to the guitar, but the first time I actually did pay attention to it, it was obvious who was playing
You'll also be pleased to know that the Bass player here, Guy Pratt, is an Aussie who replaced Roger Waters for many years in Pink Floyd. 🙂 "Sorrow" from this concert is also wonderful, as is "On the Turning Away" ... the whole thing is incredible really. Cheers from Canberra.

Named in homage to two older black blues musicians from North Carolina, USA, “Pink” Anderson, and “Floyd” Council, the band was attracted by their raw, bluesy sound. No other band like them to compare to, they are “the cerebral band of rock”.

The silhouetted shot with David Gilmour shredding the guitar in the end solo is just the most epic thing. A beautiful shot.
This whole concert is a masterpiece. And will be remembered throughout time, just like Beethovens 5th symphony
I am one of the few people who were NOT there that night. But the song, and Floyd still blow me away. This is only one of thousands of concerts I have not attended.
@OslerWannabe Things just got in the way, didn't they. You have one of the best comments here. I never knew of SRV, either.
Legendary band, legendary guitarist (David Gilmore) and a legendary concert. Absolute musical perfection.
Pink Floyd is a magical art form.
Great reaction .. "shine on you crazy diamond" from the same concert is a masterpiece
David Gilmore said in an interview , It's amazing what sounds you can get just by " Bending a few little strands of wire " Epic......
The synthesizer was used heavenly in the 80s. It brought a new element to rock and roll.
AWESOME!!! Pink Flyod in the 1990s better than bands in the 2020's
I saw them in Birmingham, Alabama - of all places - and the crowd was transfixed then. David burning his guitar on Pulse album is the universe telling us THIS IS THE BEST THING EVER.
Just one Word. Eargasm
I was there that night, and they finished with, Run like hell, nobody did though. We sat for ages trying to digest what we had just witnessed. Still watch PF everyday.
The medusa that opens up above the crowd is a spaceship that transports David Gilmour back to his planet after each concert.
Pink Floyd was always ahead of their time when it came to sonic innovation, music, and staging. They’re easily one of the most innovative rock bands that ever played. Floyd never followed trends. They created them.
Not only the best musical rock band but also the moat visual
They were so far ahead of their time also thank you for not interrupting a David Gilmour solo
The worlds largest mirror ball (40 feet in diameter) opened near the end of the finally. The large mirror ball was a staple of a Pink Floyd show, this version took it to a new level when it opened.
Nothing else compares to this!
Love that you got into it.
Please enjoy more Pink Floyd. 👀 🇦🇺
Agreed - the quality of PF sound had to be heard to be believed. Been to many concerts by many bands but none matched them in this sense.
When David makes his guitar cry, I cry, too.
Shedmen56
This put a grin😂 on my face still 50 year later
Been in the music industry for 40 yrs. The light show still amazes me. She did a great job.
Our generation was so into our music that we actually sat still to listen. Most at that concert, I’m sure, we’re from our generation. The 70”s kids. We listened intensely to the music and knew/know every note. So, I’m certain the audience was doing the same thing…taking it all in.
Your right , im a 1969 baby and the 70s was the last real generation that was layed back to a huge degree . Like the movie sand lot #1
🙏🙏🙏🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🙏🙏🙏
Lotus flower opening up -- significant spiritual significance that everyone should understand associated with David Gilmour's iconic guitar solo.
I was lucky enough to see PF in 87, MESMERIZING AWESOME SHOW😅😊
Great choice. All the songs are great from this concert.
I was there for two of the 14 nights that they played at Earls Court. Still the best concert that I have been to.
Richard Wright on keyboard was one of the first to really experiment with synthersizers back in the early days of Pink Floyd
David Gilmour’s guitar solo is unbelievable. Just close your eyes and feel the solo!
I would have loved to be in the audience. The music and visuals were absolutely
amazing. What a concert. I really enjoyed. Thank you
After putting my Lab down at the vet I came out to the car and this song just started playing. I sat there and cried like a baby. I’ll always think of Fred (being comfortably numb) when I hear this song.
You always remember your first love/show ... May 4th, 1988 Carter Finley Stadium , Raleigh NC. I turned 22 that day!!
This concert indeed held on 1994, they were completely ahead of their time
I was at the Pulse concert in 1994 at Veterans Stadium in Philadelphia.
In the beginning was Pink Floyd. No other band was needed! Even in the '70s they needed 14 artics to move all their gear!
It doesn't get better than this 40
Years later
I’m still floating 30 years later what a night.
Welcome to the Machine...'On the Turning Away' , another great David Gilmour solo
1 of the best concerts I have had the thrill of seeing live in my 73 yrs!!
True Masters!
arguably the greatest live guitar solo of all time
Have a look at a band that played at Woodstock ( Ten Years after) Alvin Lee Lead guitarist ___RIP !964 version of Good Morning Little School Girl check out the Bass guitarist,,,,By the way its black and white
Named in homage to two older black blues musicians from North Carolina, USA, “Pink” Anderson, and “Floyd” Council, the band was attracted by their raw, bluesy sound. No other band like them to compare to, they are “the cerebral band of rock”.
Wow. Thanks
I was today years old when I learned how my favorite band got their name and from my own home and current state, North Carolina! Damn I hate being ignorant for so long on this data point. Thank you for sharing your wisdom! Now to research those ladies. ❤
What you witnessed, in my opinion, was the greatest performance of the greatest solo ever written. Bar none.
Pink Floyd has always been at the forefront, both sonically and visually, of any rock band. I'm older now, 69, and PF still moves me.
Best floyd reaction ever. Watched a couple thousand. It's the magic
Thank you. That was really kind. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Seeing them live was a memory for a lifetime an experience that was individual to each person can’t be explained
I was lucky enough to be there! The greatest guitar solo in history! Glad you enjoyed it. Please react to 'High Voltage' by AC/DC from Live at Donington in 1991!, One of their finest performances.
I had the absolute pleasure of attending this amazing concert back in my younger years, I really don't have the words to describe the euphoria that was felt amongst us in the crowd❤
That apparition that opened over the crowd was exactly what you saw - an apparition.
Dreams don’t need to be anything else.
He plays with his soul as well no one has his heart and soul in there guitar playing like him
