Man !!!! Thank you so much !! I just paused my work to write this comment !! I did this 10 minutes ago and it worked perfectly !! You saved me thanks for sharing this !
I was thinking about doing that to my alternator shaft, apparently trying to beat the shaft while the bearing was clamped down caused about 2 threads at the end of the shaft to expand outwards 🤦♂️. So I can’t put the pulley or even try to put the nut on since the whole thing spins. Iam about to either cut the end off or sand it down. Either way I can’t drive nowhere for tools or replacements , and I just found out today that owning a threading kit isn’t enough, I need a die set too😂
My partner was swindled today. They said they couldn’t find a proper nut for his front right tire and that the “old one” was just falling off. So they pretty much pushed him into buying a new axel entirely.
Nice solution. Way better than rethreading the whole thing. If I ever get the axle off the hub, this is what I'll do.

Good stuff Brotha! I figured that was the coarse of action. I just jacked up the end threads on my axle and figured this was the way to fix it.
Hey can you explain the process now a little more detail do you grind at a edge do you press it again the flat part or are you cutting it ???
