    This is without a doubt among the most beautiful compositions I have ever had the privilege to hear. One of the finest renditions. One of the planet's most gifted artists. Splendid.

    when you take a piece of heaven in music form and play it hear on earth, in all its beauty, life really is worth living...👍

    • @christiangasior4244
      @christiangasior4244 5 лет назад +3

      Well, life is worth living if you get a good deck of cards and know how to play them, but many people are born with horrible diseases and into poverty, war, etc. They aren’t given the chance to make the most of their lives. Sometimes it’s just meaningless suffering. But yeah, this song is heavenly indeed.

    There are not ENOUGH "Likes" on RUclips to honor this Musician. There should be "LOVES" to give this Man! This Genius! - and This POET of Sound! At the end of the day - The TRUE Musicians are Humble, and don't call attention to THEMSELVES! They are in the Service of Something "Higher", and more Sublime than the pool of crassness, and vulgarity This "World" swims in. Ralph Towner is G.O.A.T!

    Ralph Towner is an amazing artist. His album Solstice is one of the best records I ever bought, and I have about 1400 . Everyone should own a copy of that album.

    • @aka.Mr.French
      @aka.Mr.French 5 лет назад +3

      Solstice was the first Towner album I ever bought (first ECM as well), back when it was first released, totally on a whim based on the back cover photos -- four musicians equipped with a 12-string acoustic guitar, a tiny soprano sax in a J-shape instead of straight, the first solid-body upright bass I'd ever seen and a drum kit... I had to hear what this sounded like.
      I'm not exaggerating to say that record reset most of what I'd thought about music before then. The compositions, the musicianship, the sonic atmosphere were and still are stunning. 45 years on, and I still listen to the entire album frequently.

    • @stretch54
      @stretch54 5 лет назад +1

      @@aka.Mr.French Yes. Those early ECM records were noticeably better sounding than albums recorded in the states and that music is just as meaningful now as it was back then.

      If I had to take just 1 ECM Record with me to a deserted island, or ...a Forest - it would be THAT "Solstice" album. It DEFINES the ECM ethos like no other!

    Maestro Ralph Towner is such a prolific artist gifted and such a talent to behold in concert.I saw his group Oregon play this at Yoshis in Oakland Ca. and it was pure magic.The audience was in a hushed moment when finished.He lives in Paloma Itaiy and i would like to see him or Oregon again but we have to wait till the pandemic returns back to where it came from or we adjust to a new norm.Blessing to Maestro Towner.Shalom.

      Thank you for the reply.He had a heart attack while doing a jazz tribute fell off the stage and rushed to the hospital where he was in remission. He is getting older and sadly we are losing our elder musicians. I really doubt that we will see Oregon perform again due to many reasons. I wish him many blessings.

    There are a lot of great, underappreciated guitarists of which Ralph Towner is one. In my personal opinion, I also think that Al DiMeola should be included in this conversation when you listen to this style of playing. Pure genius as well.

      Indeed no comparison … Al admires Ralph it’s true, but he also plays a Towner piece during the acoustic part of his set and doesn’t acknowledge him, leading the audience to believe the beautiful piece they just heard was written by DiMeola … it’s a douchey move

    @FantomOfFear I would recommend finding an experienced guitarist to help you select a guitar in your price range by playing and listening to as many as possible. Unfortunately, your geographic location is a big factor in finding a large variety of instruments. What state to you live in? Are you looking for a classical/nylon-string guitar like what Ralph Towner mainly plays? Good luck!

      I met Ralph in the 80's here in NYC. He had at the time a beautiful Ramirez. He states it's long gone now, regrettably. He has two Elliotts, a Jim Redgate; a Giovanni Garofalo made in Palermo; and a Aldo Illota. Also two Guilds from 1976 made for him. Other than the Ramirez, I got the info from an interview with him. Hope that helps.

    Who is Page? Jimmy Page? If you meant him, he's a great guitarist for what he plays (blues and rock), but he's not even remotely close to being as talented in terms of composition, musicality, or even technique as Towner. Granted, they play different styles, but take a look at, for instance, Mevlana Etude, Nardis, Spirit Lake, Nimbus, etc. There's just no way Jimmy Page is playing any of that.

    • @theWARMJET
      @theWARMJET 5 лет назад +2

      Hes a lot more technical then Page,lol, but thanks god he is not Jimi Page and also the contrary

    • @christiangasior4244
      @christiangasior4244 5 лет назад

      Page has some acoustic tunes like the 12 string “Braun-yr-aur”, which actually would fit right in on a playlist with this tune. It’s definitely sloppier and there’s overdubs, but he wasn’t a slouch on an acoustic. But yeah, I agree with your overall assessment.
