2:06 is by far my favorite part of this soundtrack. it perfectly encapsulates why puss was so arrogant and careless with his lives: glory. when this music is playing, he’s having the literal experience of a lifetime. he’s undefeated, he’s loved, and most of all, he’s enjoying every second of it. he’s invincible and he knows it. hearing the crowd chant for him and sing his praises in his native tongue is such an awesome moment. (the fight itself compliments this imo, too. so beautifully animated!)
Tbh, there's little people who can actually box with Puss in the ShrekVerse. He's one of the most skilled beings in the verse, and one of the most agile too. In this fight, he legit toys around with The Giant and easily defeats it. I don't blame Puss for thinking he was undefeatable, he's very strong, SPECIALLY when Death itself struggled against Puss to the point of actually losing a clash.

As soon as I heard thr line "Never touched by blade." My mind immediately recognized that he was totally gonna get cut or stabbed. And then was reinforced when the line was repeated. I love foreshadowing and I love when I pick up on it correctly. I totally didn't guess that wolf was death tho. I thought all of the death flags meant that puss was going to die, but someone else would use the wish to bring him back to life.
That's actually an amazing concept. I could imagine him singing a reprise of this song as he comes back, that would've been amazing. Not to say what we got was bad, but this would've been just as cool

I find it absolutely hilarious that nearly every single thing Puss says about himself in this song is either completely untrue or is contradicted by the events of the movie. "Who's so brave and unbelievably humble" - He's literally singing a song about how cool he is, not too hard to figure out "Who's never been touched by a blade, Puss in Boots is never afraid!" - Death cuts his forehead and nearly kills him like 10 minutes after this "Ready to roll the dice, who gambles with his life?" - he never actually properly gambles his life since he had 9 until his final fight with Death where he fights to live
So, I was rewatching the first 9 minutes of the last wish for the thousandth time, and I noticed something: When we first see Puss do the 'Spanish Splinter' move, he looks back at the crowd after doing so to see their reaction. He's putting on a show. But when it's done in the finale against Jack Horner, there are two differences. Firstly he's side by side with Kitty Softpaws, no longer alone. And secondly, after its execution, the ginger cat looks at her. He's not putting on a show, he's not being the legend that was too big for other people. He's now focusing on the people closest to him. It's also a subtle way of showing where his priorities are.

Is it unpopular? For me a great story told in a serious tone will be always above another great one that is a parody. PiB 2 feels very wholesome, cheering and personal. First Shrek is "just" a well told but not personal story with lots of parodies.
there will never be a movie like this ever again, i don't mean that the same incredible quality shown here can't be done again, i'm sure it can, but this movie revived the shrek universe with such amazing care and love to the world and its characters after many years of dormancy that's something we'll never see again, and this movie will always be praised as the one that brought Dreamworks into a whole new era

This song is brilliant to have at the start at the film. It does a ton of work to really sell us the mythical hero our furry little swash buckler really is.
He lost his lives due to stupid decisions. A bull, a card game, a bell, etc. He never lost to an enemy. He was invincible. And he still is. He got cut by Death because he was literally Death. He can still be a legend, with one life left. Death is the one that he wouldn't beat.

Puss claimed to be fearless and for his first 8 lives he really wasn't because every time, he could come back from all the stupid deaths he had. By the end of the movie, he has been humbled, down to his last life, and despite of his fear of Death itself, he presses on, making him brave.
I like the fact that the tempo of the music is accelerating and from the usual song about the fearless hero turns into a LEGEND! It is in this song that it is shown how he overestimated himself higher and higher, before meeting death.
I am not gonna lie I don’t like the new generation movies which is really cringe but this movie was a masterpiece even in my opinion better than spider-man into the spider-verse but I like both movies don’t get me wrong. This movie is one top best kids movies all time like 10/10.

Fr, for me it was nothing but just a mid sidekick from Shrek franchise. I was not interested in seeing PiB movies at all. Sometimes I love how RUclips gives me random video recommendations ❤ I saw a video talking smth about realistic portrayal of anxiety in media with a thumbnail from this movie and I watched it... I was like "what the hell did they do to this character?? How they managed to make it all so dark yet so cool and working so perfectly??". It's such a positive surprise. Puss now is even a better character for me than Shrek and Donkey. He's honestly one of my fav characters ever rn. A damn talking cat in boots, lmao.
Perfect setup for the movie, both thematically speaking for how the rest of the movie plays out along with how Puss grows, and just for how amazing it is.

This movie made me unimaginably happy
This song is brilliant to have at the start at the film. It does a ton of work to really sell us the mythical hero our furry little swash buckler really is.

@@thatonecatwithalotofmemes Fearless and brave do not mean the same thing. Fearless literally means "without fear" while being brave requires one to push on despite his fear. Puss claimed to be fearless and for his first 8 lives he really wasn't because every time, he could come back from all the stupid deaths he had. By the end of the movie, he has been humbled, down to his last life, and despite of his fear of Death itself, he presses on, making him brave.

Unrelated, but I hate the new pokemon games ost it didn't sound spanish at all, which is very sad. Imagine all the bangers that could have been made. Like, really gamefreak? Fr, for me it was nothing but just a mid sidekick from Shrek franchise. I was not interested in seeing PiB movies at all. Sometimes I love how RUclips gives me random video recommendations ❤ I saw a video talking smth about realistic portrayal of anxiety in media with a thumbnail from this movie and I watched it... I was like "what the hell did they do to this character?? How they managed to make it all so dark yet so cool and working so perfectly??". It's such a positive surprise. Puss now is even a better character for me than Shrek and Donkey. He's honestly one of my fav characters ever rn. A damn talking cat in boots, lmao.
