I don't think she's useless at all ,she's actually is really useful as a master of disguise ,assisting as backup, and an excellent hacker. However, I agree with you , she needs character development and needs to have more time showing her resourcefulness. There is a reason why she is shield's most capable and number 1 agent.

She didn't have to die. Why didn't she give her capsule with the Pym-particles to hawkeye and then jump. After that, Hawkeye could've just jumped back in time for like 5 minutes and have a Natasha and a soul stone. "Mimimi, but Natasha had no capsule then!" Yes, she did, if he jumped to a point where she still had a capsule (meaning: before she gave it to him.)
Now you may say: "The ancient one told Professor Hulk that there would be a seperate timeline then!" Yes. But original Hawkeye already had the infinity stone. So if he just chills at Vormir for five seconds, ALIVE Black Widow could come back with the stone. After Thanos in the original timeline is stopped, of course. NO ONE, and I mean NO ONE in the movie had to die, not even our favourite Marvel character.

Honestly, it may be because of shitty writing but it fits her character so damn well. Being a totally different person all the time is who she is. To quote what she said to Steve in a borrowed (stolen) car while driving to New Jersey, "The truth is a matter of circumstance. It's not all things to all people, all the time. Neither am I." It's clear she lived by that, it was ingrained into her for as long as she could remember, how could she not? She became what what was needed in the moment.
In Ironman 2 she was a spy, in Avengers she was an Avenger, in Winter Soldier she was a friend, Age of Ultron a lullaby, Civil War an ally, Infinity War a protector, Endgame- she was a little on the emotional side (not that there's anything wrong with that) but a leader nonetheless. And hell, in her own movie Black Widow she was, well.. a poser, AKA just Natasha Romanoff though. You can tell she was herself in that movie because it was the first time she ever actually yelled and raised her voice at someone. That speaks volumes.

I didn't like Nat and Bruce's relationship, just didn't really seem right to be honest. I'd prefer a Nat - Cap relationship over the Bruce one easily but I do enjoy them being friends and her trying to hook him up with someone lul.
