I did the color group like you as well last year! And it was awesome! I do centers at the end of a unit and I was able to use those as their rotating groups. My instructional coach made a life changing suggestion so that each number has a job. So if they sit on a 1 they are the materials monitor 2 voice level moderator 3 praise/ encouragement etc! And we’d review their jobs before the start of the centers !

I use coloured velcro spots for our circle and would give it an 8/10. The size best fits the smaller classes and I ask the senior kids to sit or stand just outside the spots to create a bigger circle. I need to replace them now - 2 years of vacuuming have made them tattered and a temptation to pick at. What I'd like is a spot combination that will accomodate circle activities and lines/groups. Haven't worked that out yet! Colleen in Australia

Some things I loved with color coding. I color coated my high medium and low drums with strips of colored tape around the bottom, worked great! And I color coated and numbered my barred instrument shelves like you did, and it worked great for me, it made the pass out and put away a lot faster, reducing transition time.

I like your idea for small percussion shelves with color coating by rows…gonna think about that one!

Agree on the linked agenda slides. They completely changed my life. And bonus, admin love them too.
