None of these events can be replicated because they were done by specific individuals. Many of us expected a list of events that are at least theoretically able to happen again, this is a really misleading title.
Yeah. Like there's no need for the last person killed in WW1 because there can obviously never be another world war 1. He should've had something like "No more world wars".
Loman I wouldn't be so sure of that considering that people can be prematurely born. Technically speaking, they're considered minus 1 month old or so, depending how premature they are. So, using your logic, if every single person born were to be birthed after the full term of 9 months then yes, you would be correct.
cold hunter No, there is actually one chance on a few billion that you have the same DNA as someone else in the world... and guess what, there is a few billion people in the world.
Dear TopTenz, Please check your facts and texts before putting them to video. The fall of the Berlin wall had nothing to do with WO II it happened in 1989 when West- and east germany where united. The Berlin wall did not even exist in 1944-1945. The soviet union attack led to the fall of Berlin...
Frank Woods nonononono the iron curtain was a number of eastern european countrys used by stalin as sort of a bufferzone in case of the cold war becoming a real war early on. the "iron curtain" fell with the destruction of the berlin wall in 1989 by the german people and thus marking the end of the soviet union. there was no iron curtain in 1945. the first use of the phrase "iron curtain" was by churchill in 1946.
Well, because it clearly makes sense to build and guard a gigantic almost impossible to scale wall in the middle of a city that you completely control at the time.
5:53 "The Soviet Union played a huge role in the Second World War driving nazi Germany back in an almost uninterrupted offensive which lead to the fall of the Berlin Wall and ultimately the surrender of Germany." What? The Second World War ended 1945. Communist occupation of eastern Germany lead to the GDR who in the '60s built the Berlin Wall around the enclave of West Berlin inside East Germany. The Berlin Wall was brought down by Germans following the end of the communist GDR in 1989.
+TopTenz Aww I'm sorry:( Sorry if I came off as rude. I found it entertaining and I love history and all. And a lot of your other videos too. I just I don't know I think it's kinda obvious that like the last WW1 death isn't going to happen again.
+Sophie Luvs Books is pointing out what some of us think - Your 'Top Ten' styled videos are examples of some of the best I've seen on youtube. We all enjoy your compact and well read pieces on each topic. This video feels different. Choosing 10 different historical events that differ so greatly made each segment appear as a strange assortment with no incremental level of 'not happening again-ness'. A Top Tens list needs some sense of gradually increasing severity (obviously) - this episode didn't make it apparent enough. Maybe because it isn't possible with this particular topic.

At least 3 men _we know of_ escaped Alcatraz. Their bodies were never found. And middle-aged, unfit and nothing-at-stake Jamie and Adam from Mythbusters demonstrated when replicating their escape as precisely as possible, that it was absolutely doable.
The fall of the Berlin Wall had nothing to do with Germany surrendering. The wall was actually put in place by the USSR to split the part of Germany they controlled from the other half.
should've named the video something like 10 historic lasts. I was expecting something in the line of we learn from our mistakes so this won't happen again.
***** The premise of the list is that I will _never_ SEE these events...as long as both the moon and humans exist there is the potential to send another person up there to be the new "last" person to accomplish that feat. As long as there are still samples of smallpox in existence there is the potential for other people to be the "last" to die from it... This is a matter of semantics I admit, but none the less makes the title inaccurate.
Alex Papangelou Yes but when the entire house are a foreign dynasty and make a point of not marrying locals you can't really say their local just as you can't say Obama is a Sioux chief.
"which led to the fall of the Berlin wall and ultimately, the surrender of Germany." A little bit of a scripting error there, I assume? The Berlin wall fell around 40 years after the surrender of Germany...

Heh, I don't know why, but I keep watching these for some reason. Besides that, great job on the videos! You're actually more accurate than some history teachers!
Here's my list: 1. The Iberian Wedding 2. The Kalmar Union 3. The First and Second World War 4. The Great Depression 5. Colonialism 6. The Louisiana Purchase 7. The Fascist Rule in Spain 8. The Austrian Succession War 9. The Treaty of Westphalia 10. The Death of Harambe

I find it funny that the only video that I've seen that got any flak was the one on the KKK. I thought everybody except themselves and other neo Nazi's hated them.
I think you missed the point of your own video, lol. Here's a better list in no particular order (you're welcome, why not make a new video?): - Hannibal crossing the Alps with Elephants (No one anywhere is likely to try that again!) - The destruction of Pompeii (Freak volcano destroying a whole city and preserving it like a time capsule for future generations to uncover) - The Chinese/Viking/Columbus (ugh) discovery of the New World (no room left to find a new continent, lol) - The surrender of the Japanese in WWII (a militaristic country being forced to surrender a major war because of Nuclear destruction - let's hope not!) - The Mongolian Horde (A tribe that controlled more land than any other nation yet was still regarded by many as a barbaric horde more than a country) - The invention of the Scientific Method. (An entire culture/industry agreeing to follow strict rules for analyzing the natural world, advancing humans out of the dark ages) - The burning of the Library of Alexandria (A huge portion of the worlds most precious science and history all lost in one day) - The Trojan Horse? (Fool me once...) Okay, I'm running out of ideas off the top of my head but I'm sure there's lots more! Anyone else? (Your title implies that the historical event could occur again but is unlikely. Of course we won't see Cleopatra again, but we will see strong female leaders. Of course the D. of I. won't be signed again, but other people will surely claim freedom from oppression. Any one person's life is unique and won't be repeated, but similar events in history tend to repeat themselves. I think a lot of people here expected a list of events and their significance that are truly unlikely to repeat.)
A previously unheard of tribe being found in the Amazon. (There's not enough of the Amazon left)An actor or actress winning an Oscar for their first starring role. My WiFi isn't working so I had to make a cellular hotspot. However the signal in my room sucks especially in the corner where my bed is. It works much better by the window, however my cable wont stretch to the windowsill. In order to watch your videos I have resorted to balancing my phone on top of my head. That's how much I value your videos.
I don't understand the claim that nobody successfully escaped from Alcatraz... It is well documented that 3 men were able to escape from the jail and the island, using a life raft made from raincoats...
The dissolution of the USSR was on December 8th, not December 21st and not December 26th as you claim here. December 21st was the Alma Ata Protocol which was an agreement among a few Russian states that they agree to stay together now that the USSR had dissolved. And December 26th was nothing more than Yeltsin making the announcement that he had quit. The country ceased to exist back on the 8th.
+TopTenz Quick correction on time line, though you may have gotten this already: WW2 ended in 1945, the Berlin Wall opened in Nov. of '89, began being demolished in '90, and was fully removed by '92. Please don't take this as mean. Your videos are quite entertaining.
What about it? Van Allen himself said that with proper shielding, the dose of radiation would not be lethal. He even helped the Apollo team choose their trajectory to minimize the amount of radiation they would receive. Van Allen has said that the idea that the Van Allen belts are an impassable barrier is nonsense.
yea right. so why hasn't anyone at nasa talked about such shielding? also where is the shielding? why did they stop going to the moon, and now stopped launching rockets? you're worse than Christians I swear
The thing is most of these things could happen again. The celebecy of priests could be removed. Egypt could have another Pharaoh. The U.S could start public executions again and Smallpox always will have a chance to come back. All the examples I stated are unlikely but not impossible.
I'm sorry but let me correct about those Kleopatra facts: 1.) Kleopatra was not exiled due to a struggle with Rome, she fled Egypt because she faced internal opposition from her first brother-husband's advisors. 2.) There is no such thing as Ptolemy XVI, unless you count her youngest son Ptolemy Philadelphus. Only 15 Ptolemaic kings were named Ptolemy, the last one being Kleopatra's eldest son Ptolemy XV Caesar. When you said Ptolemy XVI, who doesn't exist, was poisoned, I believe you were thinking about Kleopatra's second brother-husband Ptolemy XIV. 3.) Kleopatra did not leave for Tarsus because she was in danger, she travelled there because Marcus Antonius summoned her there to answer some accusations against her, and also because she saw this as an opportunity to form a partnership with Antonius.
+Hypno Toad If you mean after his mother's death then no. He and his entourage were at the port if Berenike ready to leave Egypt until he was convinced to return to Alexandria.
I dont get most of them. They are only as unique as you make them. There'll be plenty of moon/planet landings in the future, plenty of wars etc etc. these will only never happen again because they are very specific.
I just love your voice! It has such a unique blend of soultriness and sophistication, and yet, it's personable, homey, and inviting. I could listen to it all day. It's awesome!
I was hoping for something about astronomy. Like: We’ll never see that kind of explosion of strs ever again, it happened a thousand years ago! Or: We’ll never see it because of too much pollution, too bad!
That....that actually strikes me deeply. You've driven me to think. Congrats, i know see that the world is going to hell and all we can do is watch. Just sit back and let the rich and the cowardly kill us off. I'll be damned. HIGGINS, FETCH ME MY CYANIDE, SHOULD MY DEATH COME SOON IT WILL BE BY MY HANDS DAMNIT!
The Soviet offensive in WW II did NOT lead to the fall of the Berlin Wall. It did however lead to the destruction of Nazi Germany, in conjunction with the Western Allies offensives through Italy and France and the Low Countries. Thanks for some great top 10s
Mostly I like these vids, but you (he) need to work on 2 things 1) PRONUNCIATION. MANY words and names are pronounced incorrectly. The one that about drove me crazy was the one about beautiful people wherein you pronounced the soldier "Tejeda" as "Tezheda" throughout. It's a SPanish name, pronounced TeHAYda (more or less). 2) Factual Accuracy (especially if you're going to criticize others on their ignorance.) In this one, about the fall of the USSR there is: "The USSR played a critical part in WW2 ... An uninterrupted offensive leading to the FALL OF THE BERLIN WALL and ultimately Nazi Germany." The Berlin Wall?? Wrong war, Dude. Off by about 45 years. Keep up the good work, but edit a little more carefully.
some of these barely have anything to do with the title. I wasn't under the illusion that we were going to have more signers of the declaration of independence
The Soviet Union destroyed the Berlin Wall during WWII? Umm, no. Otherwise, I enjoyed your list's mixture of optimism (no one will die of smallpox again), with pessimism (no more humans on the moon).
The title of this video makes no sense when combined with the contents. People are not "historical events". More like "Top ten last things" or something.
At 6:00 The Berlin Wall wasn't even built in WWII. It was constructed by the Soviets after the war to keep the East Berliners in their part of the city.
MitoW3 Yeah, I also had to pause it and go over it a few times to make sure that was actually what I thought I heard. That sentence makes very little sense indeed. To top tenz: Berlin wall fell in 1989. Berlin fell to the red army in 1945.
small pox is not eradicated. its still alive, only now its NOT deadly. and what about the moon thing. there will never be another FIRST man to land on moon, but LAST man.... that is always possible
This is just dumb. Of course, Eugene Cernan will never go to the moon again. Do you think no people will ever walk on the moon again? And there will never be a group of people speaking ancient Etruscan, or Carthaginian, again? Can anyone just make ridiculous top ten lists like this and get 279,000 hits?
Well..... I'm only in so deep we got to Small Pox, and now, here 5 years after the making of this video, it's a mixed bag of feelings knowing that the first two will probably be seen again.
Eugene Cernan the last person on the moon! are you sure about it. What if america fell into a dark age due to a zombie apocalype followed by its colonization by some other nation, followed by public execution and then again the declaration of independence,What the hell is about the cleopatra.... this video is dull and stupid
I'm surprised how frequently non-content-creator literalist-trolls leave comments on TopTenz videos. Reminiscent of middle-school (but maybe some have a mental-disability that causes them to be literalists? In which case, I should not make fun of them). Also, enjoyed the video TopTenz, thanks. I think you all are doing great.
this is the internet, you shouldn't really be surprised by anything you find. I will say on this video in particular the title made me think the video would have been more about events than people being the last to die. still enjoyed it after I realized what was going on, and do watch most of toptenz videos when I have a few minutes.
Germany surrendered from ww2 in 1945 and the berlin wall fell in 1989... Dont get them confused
Yeah thought the same
alpha ceta I'm hoping that's sarcasm
Java Rahman No that wasnt sarcasm... Germany surrendered in 1945 but the berlin wall fell in 1989. He is absolutley right about that.
Ye haha was going to say the exact same thing
Gothams Reconing How could anyone get that wrong? Especially when making a video about historical events. XD
None of these events can be replicated because they were done by specific individuals. Many of us expected a list of events that are at least theoretically able to happen again, this is a really misleading title.
+Brandon Wu Right! Literally every event is unique and can never be repeated exactly.
+Udumfck you r wrong I can drink a bottle of water then the next day I can drink water again from the same cup...
zhang yu You're an idiot, he is obviously talking about the events stated in the video.
Yeah, I thought they'd be more general statistical things too...
Yeah. Like there's no need for the last person killed in WW1 because there can obviously never be another world war 1. He should've had something like "No more world wars".
I once broke the world record of being the youngest person
***** same
octavus augustus just to clarify, no one has ever broken the record. just tied it.
Loman I wouldn't be so sure of that considering that people can be prematurely born. Technically speaking, they're considered minus 1 month old or so, depending how premature they are. So, using your logic, if every single person born were to be birthed after the full term of 9 months then yes, you would be correct.
What if you were born early?
+octavus augustus What about the fact that more than one person can be born at once?
Hey hey hey guys, IM THE LAST PERSON TO HAVE MY EXACT DNA! isnt that just mind blowing.
katcatcat AJ waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaattt?!
You are also the first
***** she said exact. every body has a unique DNA that only they have
cold hunter No, there is actually one chance on a few billion that you have the same DNA as someone else in the world... and guess what, there is a few billion people in the world.

Technically the iron curtain dropped in 1945, which the Berlin Wall is a more physical representation of the curtain.

😂😂😂
+Lord Steel but it's true and I'm English and America winning the world cup is impossible
The US will probably win the world cup before we do.
Namibia will probably win the World Cup before we do.
Finland will probably get into the World Cup before that happens.
I mean no offense to you, but I'm confused as to what exactly the point of this was.

5:34 "Alcatraz was never no good for nobody"
- Frank Weatherman (Last Prisoner to Leave Alcatraz)
I think that's a double negative.
seahawk124 Triple negative, actually.
Recently the police man and one of the prisoners were on the news (police man was the last one to leave) and the officer was still in his clothes
Triple negative and therefore still a negative

You Sir or Madam are correct.
"Never good for nobody" Means it was at least good for somebody

that's true lol
Next episode, they will include "The last day of 2015", "The last Monday of the year 1999", "the last year of the 20th century".
What if...I made a paper boat, name it Titanic, fill it with paper people, name one of them Elizabeth, sink the boat and only let Elizabeth survive XD

There is no such thing as Ptolemy XVI, unless you count her youngest son Ptolemy Philadelphus.
I just thought it was odd that he used a picture of a DOLL of Elizabeth Taylor as Cleopatra lol
these guys usually get facts wrong , like generally there is some truth behind it but the context is way outta wack
+Hypno Toad If you mean after his mother's death then no. He and his entourage were at the port if Berenike ready to leave Egypt until he was convinced to return to Alexandria.
last day of the USSR
*guitar solo*
you don't know how lucky you are
;3
"...the fall of the Berlin wall and ultimatly the surrender of germany"
wtf? credabilaty lvl -9000
I can still remember seeing Elizabeth Dean as a child in NYC...
why is the last moon landing the last?
we might go back there.... though not so soon.
The government is hiding things ;). If you and I guess what it is then we all know why!
Austin Murre As from now on we we'll start spreading our wings and going to go to space more often, meaning moon landings will be more common.
I dont get most of them. They are only as unique as you make them.
There'll be plenty of moon/planet landings in the future, plenty of wars etc etc. these will only never happen again because they are very specific.
Last APOLLO mission to the moon. APOLLO was shut down.
Apollo 18
Amazingly great list - best one I have ever heard thank you
Small pox does still exist, there are like 12 cases every year because of 3rd world conditions and anti-vaccination groups.
I just love your voice!
It has such a unique blend of soultriness and sophistication, and yet, it's personable, homey, and inviting.
I could listen to it all day.
It's awesome!
All historical events will never be seen again (unless you own a time machine). That's why they are historical events.
tht was pretty interesting; well done as always!
why are like half of these American I mean there is whole other planet
awww who cares its a RUclips top 10 video. What in this list would you replace out of curiosity
'Cuz America rules. Yeeeee-HAW!!
'Cause RUclips was created in America, and mostly Americans use it.
America is the aids of the world.
Time Palace He must be French.
I was hoping for something about astronomy.
Like: We’ll never see that kind of explosion of strs ever again, it happened a thousand years ago!
Or: We’ll never see it because of too much pollution, too bad!
What about finding a new continent?
If something can happen it will happen. there are no lasts, only firsts
The moon one can change...
nice voice that makes the video even more awesome!
3 people escaped from Alcatraz and have never been caught
+Rui Oliveira they never found there bodies so its not sure what happened to them xD
This was a good video. Please make more.
The Berlin wall "falling" started in 1989. There was no wall in WWII...
Excellent video. Well one.
Those who don't know their history are doomed to repeat it... and those who do are doomed to see the others repeat it
Nice quote, who said that again?
phoenix Games the original quote is from Edmun Burke, but this one is from an internet strip whose autor I couldn't find
Gea Force Another one with some truth in it. "History doesn't repeat itself but it often rhymes".
Berlin Wall during WWII....Are you sure about that ?
***** i just made a refrence to a meme
My great grandfather listened to the distress calls of the titantic, apparently.
"Last person to be executed in public in the United States"... yeah right
After I die, the world will have to miss the gift of gazing my fairest appendage of the fallic members.
The Soviet offensive in WW II did NOT lead to the fall of the Berlin Wall. It did however lead to the destruction of Nazi Germany, in conjunction with the Western Allies offensives through Italy and France and the Low Countries. Thanks for some great top 10s
With the internet being so accessible, it blows my mind that you youtubers dont research your bs before you post it
+Carolus Rex There was an annotation correcting that
Probably due to comments like these calling them out.
+Zach Jordan yep
Incredible facts, thanks
Mostly I like these vids, but you (he) need to work on 2 things 1) PRONUNCIATION. MANY words and names are pronounced incorrectly. The one that about drove me crazy was the one about beautiful people wherein you pronounced the soldier "Tejeda" as "Tezheda" throughout. It's a SPanish name, pronounced TeHAYda (more or less). 2) Factual Accuracy (especially if you're going to criticize others on their ignorance.) In this one, about the fall of the USSR there is: "The USSR played a critical part in WW2 ... An uninterrupted offensive leading to the FALL OF
THE BERLIN WALL and ultimately Nazi Germany." The Berlin Wall?? Wrong war, Dude. Off by about 45 years. Keep up the good work, but edit a little more carefully.
6:00 That's incorrect. The Berlin Wall didn't exist yet during WWII.
some of these barely have anything to do with the title. I wasn't under the illusion that we were going to have more signers of the declaration of independence
*****
From the title it just seemed as if it was going to be things that you were surprised that you would never see again
I should break in and sign it just to show up this video. :) Wouldn't be easy though.
Lights Blade
fuck yeah
***** Don't tell Cage, he might try to sign the Declaration of Independence this time, which is of course, still very possible
I enjoyed this ty!
The Soviet Union destroyed the Berlin Wall during WWII? Umm, no. Otherwise, I enjoyed your list's mixture of optimism (no one will die of smallpox again), with pessimism (no more humans on the moon).
Great vid!
The title of this video makes no sense when combined with the contents. People are not "historical events". More like "Top ten last things" or something.
At 6:00 The Berlin Wall wasn't even built in WWII. It was constructed by the Soviets after the war to keep the East Berliners in their part of the city.
Dafuq I heard at 5:55 - 6:03?
MitoW3 I know, right? Berlin wall? WTF?
MitoW3 Maybe "Berlin Wall" was a military title given to an area near Berlin... maybe.... No I can't defend that....WTF?
***** Well I had no idea that the fall of Berlin Wall in 1989 led to the surrender of Nazi Germany in 1945
MitoW3 Time travel explains all of this. Although it makes a list like this completly pointless since you could just alter the past.
MitoW3 Yeah, I also had to pause it and go over it a few times to make sure that was actually what I thought I heard. That sentence makes very little sense indeed. To top tenz: Berlin wall fell in 1989. Berlin fell to the red army in 1945.
at 6:00, did he say the "Fall of the Berlin Wall"? That didn't exist in the days of WW2.
Wait. The last signer of the Declaration of Independence? What is it we'll never see again, another signer? Yeah, we knew that.
"We'll never land on the moon again." Just like how no European set foot in the Americas after Columbus left. Oh wait...
I wouldn't mind watching a public execution 😃
Faith in humanity: lost
Sean Wyatt I know right
Alex Crawford I volunteer to run the popcorn booth!
InsanoBinLooney perfect all we need is a executioner and a butt scratcher drink guy and a Mexican cleaner to clean up afterwards
well.......I don't clean.
are you from another channel?
How is the last day of the USSR any less likely to happen again than, say, the 333rd day of the USSR?
Daniel L. Because why would there be another one?
***** But if there's never another one, we are just as likely to never see another 333rd day of the USSR as we are to never again see the last day.
or the 334th day, or the 2nd day. spot on.
Another thing we’ll probably never see again historically, is a Country’s leader fighting on the front lines of a war they started.
small pox is not eradicated. its still alive, only now its NOT deadly. and what about the moon thing. there will never be another FIRST man to land on moon, but LAST man.... that is always possible
he wrote most likely in the tittle.... pls read it first
+sahaj singh but it is very likely we'll go back
6:00 fall of the berlin wall and surrender of germany? GG, goofed up there m8 :D
Yes. Most likely...the dead people will never come back to life. o.o
Are you kidding? There will (most likely) never be another human on the moon? BS.
Kenyan Bunnie There will most likely never be another _APOLLO_ astronaut on the moon.
Ah Top Tenz. I remember when you were only a website and I looked at it like every day. I stopped like 3 years ago and only just remembered.
why no 10?it can happen again and is very likely
I agree fam
well the next time we walk on the moon it won't be the Apollo Mission
A multiverse would mean lots of bigbangs
You have to ask yourself why they would spend the money on something we've already done.
Pickles they spend so much on wars so...
This guy should read the news on something like BBC news or CNN or whatever. His voice is cool haha
It's hung not hanged
I'm hung
He was hanged
Jaevon McGee Would you bet your life on that?.....
Dharmaa RS us english is hanged. Traditional english is hung.
Jaevon McGee When referring to the act of hanging, the word is "hanged". All other uses the word is "hung".
Lee Doughty Convicted murderers are hanged, meat is hung.
Love your channel. Very informative and nice accent!
😂😂😂😂😂
+Rachel Conklin he was talking about the other events in that part
even if the title also got me confused at first, I leave you a like. don't listen to these immature people. you have done a good job
really scrapping the bottom of the barrel to make topics now, aren't we. #loadofcrap
+kieran77mcrae Scraping the barrel for this bait more like
I'm surprised how frequently non-content-creator literalist-trolls leave comments on TopTenz videos.
I will say on this video in particular the title made me think the video would have been more about events than people being the last to die. still enjoyed it after I realized what was going on, and do watch most of toptenz videos when I have a few minutes.
this title makes no sense. all historical events will never be seen again. i don't think we'll see hitler again
