- I recently got a couple of meshtastic devices, and wanted to see what all I can do with them. Let's take a look at a pre-assembled device, as well as put together a kit, and explore some options with meshtastic!

I built the same heltec v3 pager and it's awesome for daily carry. Can't wait for the T-Deck firmware to get updated!
I concur Jeem. Not entirely convinced but having fun with radio.
Very informative. Thank you.
Good overview and demo vid. Meshtastic is great if you find yourself in a metro area, you'll definitely find people to mesh with.
Rak wireless is defiantly the one to use if you are worried about power and upgrades. Nice video Jeem! 73
Hi Brother. I feel I can call you that since I retired as a firefighter in a department very close to Chuck's. I started with Meshtastic a couple of months ago using the wizbloc. I've been learning a lot. Your video was very good, concise, and to the point as well as very easy for a beginner to understand. I live only about 5 miles away from Chuck but have never met him in person. Someday, hopefully. De WB6JAF
Hey Earl, thanks for the message. I was there 27 years, still miss it, don't miss middle of the night calls! Thanks for watching! I try to explain stuff like that, similar to how I figure it out.
With a little experience using the GPIO connections, some python coding, and an arduino, you can get the Meshtastic network to take messages from all sorts of dingus's like notifying you when a switch has been tripped for example.
Yeah, there's tons of sample code out there. I'm not a complete arduino noob, but definitely rusty on it. There's so much stuff you can do with these things. On my to-do list is to put together a weather station for here at the house.
@FEPLabsRadio the moisture sensor has my interest for the RAK. It would be nice to have the tomatoes water themselves. I added an on off switch to my wisblock just to save on power when it was off.
My problem was that I could never get the Rak wireless to do anything. There is a step where you are to double push the button and it should show up on you PC like a drive. Then you can add the files to the device. I tried two different ones with two different PCs and never could get it to work. Tried on and off for a while and gave up. I'm sure I am messing it up or missing a driver or something but I could never figure it out.
Therein lies the rub. If you live out in the country, it's highly unlikely you'll find any nodes to connect to unless they're yours.
I have heard that if you can get a node up like a repeater the distance is quite good. LoRa is for Long Range.
