- Here's a comparison of a Y62 Patrol using a locker to get up a steep articulated hill. You would think that a locker would do this better but with modern 4x4's this actually inhibits forward motion. Click play and you will see why
As always....Good practical demonstration👍👍👍
After owning a 79 single cab for 2 years personally and driving 79 dual cabs for my job in underground mining for 3 years I could not imagine touring in one, they are tough and reliable but they lack every conceivable form of comfort available in the y62. I got my series 4 a few months ago and don’t think I will ever buy another off road vehicle. It has loads of power, so much fun. And still uses way less fuel then my 80 series, 79 series, ba xr8 and bf xr6t.
Welcome aboard brother 👌
well done but whats trac control?? #80series lol
Might be time for a set of bash bars...
Wow, looks like Hurricane Utah, only the moon is upside down.
Morning Great videos.
Seen plenty now of the Y62 up against the L/C 200, no guessing who's performing better.. But now watching Traction control etc I think it's about time you compare the Nissan T/C to the L/C 200 CRAWL mode. As when the little Ol discussion regarding ability comes up instead of hearing how 'elite' the L/C is, it's now about there CRAWL function.
I’m quite confident who would win that one too, but if the opportunity comes up I’ll be sure to get the camera out. Cheers for watching 👍
front locker is not engaged or not working. this car would idle up that incline with both locker engaged
Could you put a front locker in it, and have front and rear locker engaged and traction off
Yes, you can put a front locker in, I’m just about to. When twin locked you don’t need to turn TC off because nothing will be slipping. Cheers
Great bit of info, thanks
It’s always better to go a front locker first before rear due to LSD. 76 and 79 aren’t great 4wds, good to look out but perform poorly.
I’m from south Australia too, where is this located?
So what you're saying is, dont use the rear locker if you also want the TRAC systems to work at the front? I would think, that this would be a different story if you had both front and rear lockers, right?
Agreed
Switch off traction control and work your lockers
Having a torsen LSD on the rear makes a big difference compared to an inferior car like a 200 cruiser relying only on traction control
Ouch Dave 😖 where was this filmed, somewhere public can access or is it private?
Morgan Quarry, need to be in a club to get access sorry
RIP PANEL
Haha
Good. Video dave
Hi Dave. When do you think the locker should be used?
On down hill descents to keep you straight, possibly in mud, and when you also have a front locker.
throw out all that tech,just use 2 lockers,best in the world,tech is for wanabees.who have no idea on 4x4ing.or not part of a club,or no mechanical knowledge.weekend worriers.old school wins every time.out bush.you crap a sensor,your walking.peroid.
It will help when you get stuck on sand
1 Nando. Yeah mate. I’ve cut all my car wirings and put on some lockers...wow!!
I’ve also thrown to rubish my all new iphone X and bought an old reliable nokia 3310, and destroyed my personal locator beacon, so I can build a fire and comunicate with smoke signals if I get stuck in the middle of nowhere and I need to be rescued...cool!!! I’m not a wannabe anymore...yipeeeee!!!!:-)))))
So Dave, you saying that the LC200 is more capable (like they say) as it's only got TC. And let's face it all ifs cars or fully independent card are going to pickup a wheel.....🤔🤔🤔
I’m confident the Y62 TC is superior to the LC200 TC. Not being a battle dick, it just is
DASH OffRoad probably better than the GXL, but inferior to the Multi Terrain Select in the VX and Sahara, when you use the right setting for the right situation.
I take it there I no centre diff lock?
There is not a button as such but a clutch that lockes up automatically when you go in 4H or 4L
Is there no After market or oem front locker for those trucks ?
Yes, Harrop do a front locker, just gotta get my hearing sorted and the one in my shed is going in 👌
Do you use rock mode on sand ?
That’s a good question, in the past I have used sand mode in sand but if there is ever a time where a wheel may lift, rock mode will win the day
why did the guy buy a 76,A,it has a v8 sound.no frigin idea.small wheels, pumped up,shit low range,no wheel travel.GO TOYOTA,YEEHH..i think monday he,d be at the nissan yard with a trade in,..yes ??.only toyota to buy is an 80,or first of the 100,.but then, thats a second choice,....
Can you turn traction control off on a Y62?
You can turn it off to a degree, but now 100%
Not
