    Everytime I see one of these episodes I RUN to see what needs to be cleaned in my house, I rearranged my bedroom and cleaned two of my bathrooms and cleaned my entire fridge ( my apartment is NO WHERES like these as a matter of fact it’s fairly clean but I clean anyways, I’m a woman who has fibromyalgia and I’m in chronic pain everyday but I try my best to do what I can even if I’m struggling but after these videos I push myself to make my apartment just a bit better. It tires me out and I get fatigued but I can’t help it. Now after watching THIS one I’m actually thinking of cleaning a room that I have Xmas things in so I can just put it all in boxes.

    I wish the US hoarders was like this. It’s so much more lighthearted, there’s no drama, there’s no judgement, and it feels more personal. Since the cleaning team is so small it forces the hoarder to face their hoard and be more involved in the clean up which is critical for their improvement and recovery.

      Yesss I agree.. the US version of hoarders is so traumatic.. we are also a different breed.. Americans tend to get offended easily lol

    • @unaizaaslam4050
      @unaizaaslam4050 2 месяца назад +5

      100% American version definitely creates drama by “accidentally” throwing something important away or forcing family members to confront personal issues. British version is such a breath of fresh air! I feel like the hoarders have a better chance of changing

    • @DiscoDoll79
      @DiscoDoll79 2 месяца назад +5

      Absolutely! The US hoarders are almost resentful of any attempt to declutter, nasty attitudes toward family and cleaning professionals or therapists. I enjoy watching the UK version. You cheer for those who have a new lease on life. The US hoarders? Leave them in their mess. Ungrateful bunch.

    Likely the ease of online shopping as well as the proliferation of cheap goods from China have played a part in the growth of hoarding disorder

    Hoarder disorder is a mental illness. These people need to be treated with compassion and respect. I loved the way the cleaners were so kind. The homes were way to cluttered for my taste, but to each their own.

      It's an addiction as well. The endorphins their brain produces when they're shopping and hoarding is a chemical drug. Addicting as any other drug...😢

    I do love these British hoarder shows for their general positivity, but I don't think I've actually seen a single home get what I'd call de-cluttered yet. I'd go completely mad if I had to stay in Allison's home for more than a day. There is still stuff everywhere. She does seem to care for the cats properly so I will commend her for that. The other lady's house is still crazy cluttered too, even in the rooms that were cleared. Her gorgeous white cat cannot speak English to communicate but he was definitely sending her a message by pooing behind the couch.

      On the other hand, the US shows featuring successful interventions feature homes that are brought down to the bare bones. You can easily imagine how the hoarder will start strewing things around again. Here, the people are allowed to retain and enjoy a cache of personal treasures. Their homes aren't stripped of their identity or their passions.

    Hoarding is based on delayed decision making so it's ludicrous to ask hoarders if they want to keep something. They want to keep everything. You might as well ask a drug addict if they would like another hit.

    • @shaldana
      @shaldana 2 месяца назад +3

      Not based on that at all whatsoever. Hoarders are perfectly capable of making choices and decisions. They just so often don't realise they can and that the world won't end when they do. It's a symptom of something else. Deal with the 'something else' in conjunction with the hoarding, similar to dealing with the causation behind alcohol or drug addiction, and the hoarding can be conquered.

    Не знаю, почему, в Британской версии передачи всё так спокойно, цивилизованно и хлам - не такой уж хлам, многое можно раздать или даже продать. Смотрела американские выпуски, там такие баталии, но в России всё ещё драматичнее, у нас большинство таких барахольщиков живут в многоквартирных домах и у них нет денег покупать вещи, поэтому они всё (и даже еду) тащат с помоек, иногда в новостях показывают этих "фриганов", как они десятилетиями тиранят соседей. У нас этажом ниже такая бабуся жила, вонь и муравьи, и это нам ещё повезло, бывает гораздо хуже. Больше всего жалко животных, заложников таких людей.

    The other option is buying a village of smaller dollhouses. I have not yet shared this vision.

      Maybe go to a dollhouse museum (if they exist) and spend a day. Write all about the whole range of emotions in your journal when you get home. You might be surprised that is all you need. Same principle as hanging out for chocolate cake? Only fawn over that masterpiece of ganache work that serves 30 at the specialist baker. Instead shout yourself a cup of coffee and a slice of the one they're cutting up for customers. When you finished you will laugh to yourself about how that would have been so way over the top and a waste of money. And the guilt when you get it home...

    Treating like lepers is not the he answer. Also,not all hoarders are filthy with disgusting homes
    My sister and mother were hoarders,sister being the worst. I ,however, was a clean freak all my life. When the pandemic came I was as totally alone with my thoughts. Most of my time was as spent ruminating on my childhood, which was as horrendous and filled with unspeakable offenses against me. I begfan using onlin shopping to cope. I found great pleasure to n acquiring thins. Walking in my house you would n ever think I was a hoarder. Cloth s and shoe were stacked in every closet. I denied being a hoarder. However, when my family encouraged me to downsize I was as taken aback by how much I really had. So I am not a hoarder who’s house stinks and is unsanitary&dangerous. Landlords should be forewarned about dangerous hoarders

    Both of these ladies have gone through hardship, and I love the way that the teams treated them - with respect, compassion, and kindness. I was disappointed that Mary's home was left with the counters covered in stuff, there things piled around the walls of every room, and there are still two rooms that can't be entered. In the craft room, ONE person could have went in there and just sorted like things together for an hour and put it in those empty totes. That would have been such an improvement. But, I'm so happy for both of these women that they ended feeling encouraged and that their lives are improved. The female team of organizers, I could watch them all day! I love their humor. :) Sweet..

Like Mary, she said that and hoped that “they” meaning the cleaners/ organizers wouldn’t ruin everything by pushing her. Fine. Don’t get a clean house. 🤷‍♀️ You hired them. They have nothing to gain or lose except a failed attempt.
