      There are profile disks in the smaller 88/40Plus lock, I took one apart to attempt to put false gates into the disks, but I bungled the gut and now I have a useless lock >_< the sidebar is missing, the pack is out of order vs. the key, and I don't know how to properly get all the ball bearings back where they belong... disaster all around on my part.

      Have you looked at using ejector pins? Like these -

      Note: I am not recommending those. They're just the ones someone else cited.

    Good job. I took it a few steps further and replaced the inner tension part with a solid piece because these tend to fall off. Also I used a mini lathe to bring down dia. Of outer shaft and silver soldered a piece of steel on for the fingers. I look forward to see what Sparrows comes out with.

    Nice job of modding the pick! I've never picked a disc detainer (have watched video's). I never realized the picking part could or had to slide in between the discs as well. I don't know if there's a way to show how that works on video but I'd (and probably others as well) would love to see how that's done.... PLEASE....

    • @LockNoob

      It doesn’t have to fit between the discs on all DD locks, but certainly Abloy. It’s very very hard to demonstrate too... I have the blind and open picking video to publish soon so maybe that will help?

  • @penfold7800
    @penfold7800 3 года назад

    Very neat mod. I'm wondering if it's possible to mod another one of these so that the tension tip can be used as the pick tip, and the pick tip be used as the tension tip for locks that tension the other way round. ...especially handy for deeper set disk stacks

    Nice job, as usual. I have a question for you. I was wondering if it would not be possible to still use the regular front tensioning tool for this lock, and just use a technic LPL does when it's not the first disk that is actually the one to rotate the core. When all disks seems to be picked except the first one, he finds a zero cut disk, apply tension with the tip while rotating the front disc with the whole pick until it falls into a gate and then opens. Wouldn't that work on this Abus plus Disc ? There is an example on his video 988 : ruclips.net/video/2_9x9iiJ_Z0/видео.html
    Thanks in advance for your reply

    • @LockNoob
      @LockNoob  4 года назад +1

      I like that technique for sure but it only works on some locks. New Abus plus cores have a butterfly disc in position 1 and 6 which makes that technique obsolete. Also, while what LPL does can be done, it’s very circumstantial to a particular lock as over-rotating a disc to tension can mean other discs don’t bind.

    • @Jason_Music
      @Jason_Music 4 года назад +1

      @@LockNoob Hi dude, thanks so much for your reply, that makes sense, and is very well explained, as usual. What is a butterfly disc ? I'm not sure to understand what they do
      In any case, I tried to grind my rear tension disk pick and the large tip fell out. It seems to be soldered from the tip of it only. So better to grind/thin it from the back following along the wire which is not easy...Maybe I was not lucky with my pick. Very cool that you take time to reply to pretty much all the comment I appreciate it !

    • @LockNoob
      @LockNoob  4 года назад

      Jason_Music Frim what I can tell, the disk is shaped in a way that when rotated past the gate it literally pushes the side bar away from the other discs

    • @Jason_Music
      @Jason_Music 4 года назад

      @@LockNoob OK, I see that makes sense. How to detect and deal with those discs then ? Thanks again !

    • @Jason_Music
      @Jason_Music 4 года назад +1

      @@LockNoob Hi again dude, sorry to be a bit insistent but I'd just like to understand. After checking again LPL picks 2 Abus plus core (548) (689) and one X-plus (999) using the front tensioning "pick that bosnian bill and I made" without any issue, so what's the deal ? Thanks in advance for your time.

  • @mkwsng
    @mkwsng 4 года назад

    This type of pick are crap. None of them work without modify, even with those cheap chinese lock. And careful with that tension tip. It's only held on place by that single punched dimple. And very easy to get loose after shaping.
