When sheen left so did the show.
He would've been better and funnier than Ashton Kutcher.
yeah but did you see the direction in which the show went? i doubt Hugh would have been very comfortable with the script lol..... Ashton sold his soul....
Thats kind of a low bar
Especially if the bbc adapted it
Yes, I believe that. I saw two of his episodes and that was enough. I liked him in *Dude, Where's my Car?* though.
Hugh Grant is a much bigger star than Simon Helberg in my book.
He would've been an awesome replacement for Charlie's void. He basically played a British Charlie Harper version in About a Boy (2002), one of his best movies.
I can’t imagine anybody’s doing this role other than Charlie Sheen.
He wouldnt have been playing Charlies role it would have been the same scenario as Kutchers...I have to agree with your sentiment though the show without Charlie lost all its funny.
You're just experiencing survivor bias
It wouldn't have been the same role, dumbass.
Not offered the original role offered the role after Sheen left...which the show had jumped the shark anyways by then
Solid Mercury it would’ve been a complete different character like Ashton Kutcher’s.
That showed integrity on his part. Good on him!
I love when he provides an environment where stars can tell the truth. It helps us connect as humans.
he didnt wanna do a replacement character for sheen, simple as that.
You’d wish you’ll grow old gracefully like this.
It’s funny but true. No one would’ve known who Simon Helberg was, but one hit show and he’s one of the biggest paid tv actors ever
Who is he?
I think after Jim Parsons, he's the best actor in the show as well. He pops up here and there in various films and acts nicely.
I knew him from quite a few things, Van Wilder, Old School, and especially MadTV and Reno 911....that said I watched a lot of Comedy Central as a teen....I was used to seeing him regularly, but it's true that I didn't know his actual name. But Big Bang Theory was far from the first thing I had ever seen him in and I recognized him the first time I saw the show
I still had to google him... "Oh the Big Bang Theory guy!"
I had to google Simon Helberg. Never watched the show (Friends) as not into TV but seen clips on youtube. Recognized his face, but the name, not. Whereas I remember "what'shisname" above in this video.
I would definitely watch Hugh in that.
That's a shame. I think Hugh Grant would be awesome on a sitcom.
Fair play for not just taking the money 💵
His voice is so posh and attractive
Is Robin even in the studio?
Hugh is delightful
We missed on something epic.
What a good looking guy
...Googles Simon Helberg, oooh that guy
Me too.
Oh Howard from Big Bang Theory...
They made so much off that show.
Yup, good ole Wolowitz
Howard Wolowitz
Love him. We may go on and on about Jim but he is a classic Howard. Same goes for other characters
Me tooo🤣🤣🤣
In all honesty if they had something to present the Hugh Grant and he did take the role I think the show would’ve been a lot better with him rather than Ashton Kutcher obviously nobody can replace Charlie but Hugh Grant has a lot of similarities like the flamboyant drunk and womanizer and I think that would’ve been really funny to watch
Would have been interesting to see what they came up with for him as a character. I really didn't mind, even liked Kutcher on the show I have to admit he did well, but his character pretty much revolved around Allan.
Hugh is naturally more funny than Sheen or Kutcher.
Getting better with age
I would've loved to see that!
Hugh Grant with guest appearances by Elizabeth Hurley... yes!
Also, even though Simon is on that god awful show... he’s supremely talented. Great at impressions, a good dramatic actor; and a great piano player. He’s no slouch or an artist.
Oh deer God I ADORE this man
I watched the first episode with Kutcher and switched off after that
I LOVE HUGH GRANT. LIVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE
He would have been fantastic on that show.
As someone Hugh Grant's age, can you imagine what he would have done for old guys going after single women?
What would he have done?
Fuck! Two and a Half Men with the British wit of Hugh Grant would've been amazing.
I never even thought of hugh grant replacing charlie in two and a half men. That would've worked i think. im not just saying that coz how it turned how with ashton kutcher but i never really felt he was right for that role.
he would have been a good recurring guest when Charlie was still on the show. He could have been a good rival for Charlie, making Charlie jealous, changing the normal dynamic, etc...
He said no? NOo!!! bags of money and a no
+KREEPYKRAWLLY He has standards.
KREEPYKRAWLLY Perhaps he is motivated by integrity rather than money.
never saw even one episode after Sheen left, but Hugh Grant would've maybe made me give it a look.
Howard's mom must be really proud
Funny thing is that Hugh’s net worth seems to be 3 times that of Simon’s
Charlie Sheen made the show. Simple as that. As soon as Charlie was gone it STUNK.
He's the British Charlie Sheen.woulda checked it out but the show already ran it's course
love stern ,Hugh is genuinely funny guy
what the hell... the series was already a big success and he would definitely have a word to say about the character development. Some decisions I will never understand.
I think Hugh's timing is a little more subtle. Might not be great for the small screen.
i would have actually watched that unfunny show just for him
luvyou baby Well it's incredibly bizarre! Everything until season 8 was pure comedic gold featuring some of the finest as well as the most entertaining character debates and socially critical statements in American television! Everything after Sheen had kicked himself out was pure bullshit making me wish Chuck Lorre would just change back to his old pharmaceuticals... And now that I hear Hugh Grant telling how they tried to talk him into that new project without one page of script just vividly outlines the lack of a concept that we see in each Kutcher episode from start to finish! Thank God this fine actor turned the moneymaking trash tv down
Me too. Was he just being nice? Both shows are excruciatingly unfunny.
It was a funny show. Comedy snobs are insufferable.
luvyou baby thanks God, he didnt took it... it would be disaster... charlie was perfect for it.... Grant is worst actor ever...
You serious? The show is funny it was awful when Ashton Kutcher came in
Hugh Grant has a net worth of 150 mil USD, Simon Helberg has 45 million USD. So his statement doesn't make any sense
He is so my type
If was never a very good show anyway. He really dodged the bullet on that one.
Not really, his character probably would have been a lot more funny and better acted as well as turning down a LOT of money. It's a really god gig for an actor to get a high profile show on network television. He kind of played himself tbh
The first 2 seasons were great at the time imo
It would of been way better with Hugh.
I watch the show regularly in syndication and I watched it religiously when it aired originally. I initially tried to watch the Kutcher episodes but they were SO painfully unfunny. Now when I see a Kutcher episode I turn the channel immediately. HG would have been awesome.
hotrod3769 no it wouldn’t have...Hugh’s a bore
Except it was SO bad with Kutcher, that you have to assume script was a big part of it, so could have harmed Hugh's career irreparably.
What?! Taahm would have been amazing with him
Obviously it would have been a different show with Grant and it would’ve been great. And he wouldn’t have melted down into a nut job 😄. Hopefully Sheen is well now.
Now that's funny Danny C!
Financially speaking, Hugh passed up one hell of a lot of money. Charlie Sheen was banking 1.8 million an episode. Not sure what they would have paid Hugh, but you can bet on a million plus per show. 2 years would have been more than 60 million dollars.
Glad he did turn it down.
He would be great
Although I like Howard and Hugh, I don't know why tf is this recommended for me from 4 YEARS AGO!!!
I would like to say he would have elevated the show but I just don't trust the writers giving him stuff he excels at. However, if there was a guarantee it would be tailor made to the type of humor he is good at, then it would have been a must watch.
yeah
What a show that would have been had he accepted.
Two and a Half Men as a show was a one trick pony..and that pony left!
He is still handsome
In british words....it was no where near as good as with charlie sheen... & he new it... Brits have integrity...he just didnt want to bash the ashton kutcher version...
Money isnt everything. Americans might have a hard time understanding that concept.
Grant would have been a better pick than Kutcher. Not saying he's a better actor, just saying he's already a Sheen-like personality.
I don’t understand why he says he’s the richest man he’s ever met (of course he might just be joking) Hugh is worth 80 million Simon 45 million ??
Come on people- the show was great with Charlie and even for a season with Ashton not bad - the problem was they just ran out of story and reason why Alan was living in that Malibu beach house and then It got ridiculous with Charlie’s illegitimate lesbian daughter and the gay marriage adoption stuff completely jumped the shark. These shows have natural time spans and it just was milked too much. They should’ve stopped after season 9/10.
Never had hots for him younger, man turned into a dilf 🗿
Have always loved his hairless chest. Like dolphin skin.
viejo weno
I’m so glad he didn’t. Charlie was younger and better looking in the beginning. Of course the drugs destroyed him. But everyone famous usually does the same thing. It’s a tough world when everybody kissing your butt!😳
Two and a half men was shite with Ashton Kutcher.
Why would he say Simon Helberg is the richest man he ever met? Simon's reported net worth is 45 million USD. Meanwhile Hugh's reported net worth is estimated at 75 million USD.
And there are loads of richer people in England he most certainly has met (even if just at an award show like the BAFTA's or a charity event) at some point on Hugh's side of the pond for example: Prince Charles' net worth is 100 million USD. Or Ricky Gervais (also tv money) with a net worth of 130 million USD.
I don't think his brand of comedy and delivery would fit well with American sitcoms plus I think he would have despised himself for doing it.
The Queen said NO !
Wow! That would of been amazing eith hugh grant instead
I had no idea how much television is worth... He needs a new agent.
John Cryr probably has a better house than the one in the TV show.
Listening to the English accent vs the American accent. Hugh Grant vs Howard Stern.
He would have absolutely been better than ashton!
Simon who?
Diplomatic answers right there
Ashton was a horrible choice. Hugh would have been amazing.
Why would someone as talented Hugh Grant want to do a dumb show like Two and a Half Men? Plus he does movies not tv.
Look, American TV is like American Health Insurance!
That show is dark and depressing lol
Not for me.
Stoop the camera switching
I think everyone except Ashton kutcher, is a total mismatch! No other person can play Berta... No other person can make you cringe like Alan and no one can be as dumb and cute as (who played jake) or rose!
And what to comment on the mother I am not even worthy on commenting on her performance.
Though after some time the story drags but the one liners and punch lines still kill.
Oops forgot Judith and herb!
Fuck he would've made a great Charlie
OMG! Hugh Grant would've been perfect!!! Damn you Hugh Grant! You ruined our favorite show!
He dodged a bullet
Did Hugh know that Howard had Divine Brown on after the arrest?
Nah, when Charlie left that show died.
Him and his script obsession. He should become a writer if he's so concerned.
too bad he didn't become part of the show.... I would have liked to see his chemistry with Melanie Lynskey, Rose on the show....
MAKES SENSE! she seemed so scatter-brained!!!! she just needed a father-figure in her.... life!
IN HER LIFE!!!!! 😲
😉
What the fuck happened to Stern's hair?
Nonsense..hugh is worth more than 3 times what simon hedberg is worth.
OMG! Hugh Grant would have been even better than Charlie Sheen!! Imagine the drunk British banter xDD
Can just imagine HUGH on 2 1/2 men.
Definitely would have been better then the talentless Ashton 🙄
And he turned down Doctor Who
he should of just took the job its not like his career has made anything good anyways lol
It's terrible with Ashton Kutcher. I would've watched it if he was on.
Hugh Grant still tripping on four weddings and a funeral gig....
His latest film is massive you moron and he had bigger success in the Bridget Jones films!
he would have been great. we were robbed..
