- Made for the Simply Slavic Festival in Youngstown Ohio USA

Since we were unable to have our Simply Slavic in the Community dance lessons in 2020 in advance of the virtual festival this year, Catherine was kind enough to record a Kolo dance lesson for us at home.
Please enjoy and practice your steps so you're ready for the virtual event on June 20, 2020 at 6:00pm - 7:30pm EST!
And Im here... A mexican woman learning how to dance this cause my husband is croatian and we will have a party with his family and I want to surprise them hahahahahaha 🇲🇽❤🇭🇷
This is Serbian kolo, don't think they will dance this
@@arsakoy my sister in law already showed me how they are doing it and its very similar. Im not totally lost🤣
@@arsakoy Svi Hrvati znaju kolo. 😉
@@gazibengazi koj kolo
huge respect, while balkan women sit down and just judge others at the party, you’ll be giving lessons to others how kolo is done while your husband is proud to have you as a wife and as a great partner to be with and actually be enthusiastic for new culture and try something new💪🏽🍻
Поздрав из Србије!
Hello from Serbia!
Super,hvala!
Svaki pokret lijepo i jasno pokazan
Svaka cast
Hvala! Niko mi dosad nije mogao pokazati korake polako.
Omg užičko kolo 😍
Great work! 😃👍
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!!!! I cant tell you how long I've tried to find someone to teach me Kolo. When I've asked my relatives, they've always said "Its just something you do, I cant teach it." And the few videos I've found on RUclips usually have someone doing a complicated step while facing me. Your video is really effective because you slowly teach the basic step, and then show it while dancing with your back to us. Thank you so much for making this video.
there are tutorials out there from various folk troups, american ones explain it well
This is fantastic Getting the nieces ready for the big wedding coming up 🇨🇦 🇺🇸 🇭🇷 .
Da si živa i zdrava. Baš tako se igra Užiko kolo. Hvala na ovom video zapisu.
8:57 filage
9:15 2nd form (hop and front)
9:32 3rd form (hop and back)
9:48 4th form (dive in on-time steps)
10:05 5th form (hop-and-cross)
This is great! Id love to see more of these tutorials! Much love from Germany :)
Great lesson, thank you. I am part of the Bosnian community in Albania and was taught the language and the traditions. But it was hard to practice music and dances during the dictatorship so there wasn't much to pass on.
This dance has nothing to do with Bosnia. It is called Užičko kolo. Užice is a town i central Serbia. People all around ex-Yugoslavia dance it because it is very easy to learn, but the dance is Serbian.
@@serbsrb oh thanks for the info.
@@freespiritable You're welcome. :)
@Kosename word "kolo" means a repeating circle. For example when we want to say "second round" (of a competition) we say "drugo kolo". Kolo is anything that is round and repetitive.
@@serbsrb yeah and no. In multiple regions of croatia we also do similiar steps to tamburica rhythms or gusle. For example in dalmatia during different types of kolo. In Posavina, Hercegovina, Slavonia partly. In regions of western and northern croatia.
Thank you ! I was researching uzicko kolo lesson like this very long time. Thanks from Turkey 🇹🇷
May Gods bless you beautiful Slavic women!
But a very nasty inside.

Hey @SimplySlavic, thank you for breaking it down! I was looking for a lesson for the different steps of Uzicko kolo 😍 and found this just by chance!
Maybe, if you read this comment, consider updating the video title to include the actual name of the kolo (i.e. Uzicko kolo), so that other interested could find it easier, thanks!
You dance great and you look great... What a combo ^^
So make other videos with kolo steps, its a very good tutorial 👌

I'm European, and I know Kolo very good and u don't have to do 3rd touch
A very long time ago I was taught a kolo line dance (never knew the name). I THINK the steps were something akin to:
Right grapevine; Kick;
Left grapevine; Kick
Repeat once
Kick 4 times
Heel
Step
Together
Step
Repeat 3 more times
Repeat all

For those who want to see how it looks for real: ruclips.net/video/0BFfjv3y2a8/видео.html
Kakva vremena da mi njih ucimo kolo plesati......uzas i promiskuiteta
Kolo is illyrian and not Slavic tradition if it was Polish they would dance like us in Balkans but non do
🤦♀️
You have no clue what kolo is,but seriously.Bosnians are born for kolo. Thanks, but that’s just not kolo.I wish if you know better, but you’re still young, you can learn.Visit Bosnia sometimes and see what real kolo is.
There are many different types of kolo. This is kolo, and so is probably your type over there. Invalidating her for dancing a certain way is a bit strange to me.
