This is one interesting share, my 18' Enduro 690 usually blink the fuel warning at 170-180km range, but once i rode consistently above 150kmh and the full tank can last up to 230 kilometers before fuel warning light pops up. Great share sir, looking forward to Spiced up my Ktm

I had my SMR built by a dealer and picked it up recently to save time. The build consisted of several parts I’ve seen on your channel, so happy that you’ve devoted time to posting your progress. I found an opportunity to clean up the wiring they zip tied, and through watching your video, noticed they wired the plug wires incorrectly. I can’t thank you enough for the detail Chopsy, truly appreciate you taking the time to get in the weeds with demonstrating the wiring!

@@LambChopRides keep an eye on the ‘plugs too once she’s all set up. It’s possible you’ll need a grade up or down if the fuelling has been changed a fair bit. 👍👍

Really interesting with the power commander. If you can't access the ecu, it's the next best thing, although without a rolling road, you are, i guess, left looking for maps with similar/the same set ups from others. I've played a lot with an aftermarket ecu on my car (bit of a home brew DIY EFI affair) but you can start to look at deciding when closed loop operates (typically low throttle opening/load and low revs) and deciding what target AFR's should be and how much the ecu is allowed to vary from a current map to achieve these. That's the only part you can't do with the PCmdr as I'm assuming the 'dongle' is resistive...so the bikes ECU thinks afr is perfect all the time.....so the PCmdr can do it's thing uninterrupted. As ever, excellent content!
Yes exactly Vernon, with dongle ECU sees a set figure thus dont make any changes. I will take this to Dynojet once complete to check map and do a custom one 👍

Absolutely fantastic video! Can I just ask about the map you installed, is the tekmo header a decat system? Reason I ask is I have a 2020 smc and I am looking for a map for my leovince decat system with dna open filter but unfortunately nothing available. The map you mentioned sounds much more like what I am searching for, would there be any chance you could share it please? And also any comments on how the bike behaves after installing the new map? Thanks

Also with the bike having multiple maps on the handlebar switch how does the power commander effect those? Do they become obsolete? Cheers.

I have a 2014 smcr 690 and it’s got a aki exhaust on it and the standard aki map is it worth spending the £300 for a power commander ?
what about a boosterplug? it seems resolve issues in the lower rev range.
Hi, great video as usual. Dyno jet still don’t list a map to download for the ‘19, 20 SMC R. You say they installed one for you.... any chance you could share? I run a Wings exhaust and the EVO box and the 701 map I found is not great. The spec you listed is much closer to my own. keep up the great work.

Can I plug in the power commander in a A2 restricted SMC 690 and thus unrestrict it ? The next KTM dealer to properly unrestrict it would be far away from me. If the power commander just short cuts the normal cdi and using its own mapping and stuff, it could work.

No impact, traction control will just work harder with more power haha

Instead of a dyno prep why not just connect an autotune to do that job constantly?

I agree. The Autotune module will make adjustments in real-time, much better (and not much more) than a single tuning session on a dyno, especially if you have a large fluctuation in temp and humidity throughout your riding season, or even during the same day.
Does the different maps with different mods come with the pv5 or?

Thanks Cribs! 👍 yes the map switch allows two different maps but they only adjust the throttle response and wheelie control. Same power output 👍
