Guess they are using the castle with the useless viaduct? Not my favorite version of the castle. Glad they are sticking with the same John Williams theme It’s just too iconic to change
Same title art, same theme, same castle - I doubt this can be final they must have just not been bothered to make new art for the announcement when it's only in script stage
My definitive Hogwarts Castle is the one in Hogwarts Legacy. It's like a combination of all of the previous versions of the castle we have seen. Plus it has the best greenhouse. I always felt like the movies did the greenhouses dirty.
@Bishyc04 It’s beautiful but not book accurate. LukeGki on Wordpress has the most book detail by book detail accurate version of Hogwarts on Wordpress. I wish they would use it.
It would be so painful if they make changes for things THEY KNOW WILL HAPPEN but aren’t currently happening in season 1 or 2 or whatever. Plan the whole freaking series, METICULOUSLY, and stay consistent. It is too much to hope for
I agree that this version of Hogwarts has become the one we just think of, and it is used everywhere. But I'd love to see an expansive Hogwarts that is more faithful to what JK drew and described in the books, and then keep it consisted through the series.
oh man i hate the bridge in HP8 so i hope they wont use that version if they decide to reuse movie hogwarts. I also hope they will keep the special effects realistic and down to earth like in the original movies. Because Fantasticbeasts was one big cgi feast. But becides that, im excited man... I mean rebooting it seems lame but the books have so many subplots so there is alot to adapt.
@@ChelseaChfy-ex1po That is true, but the feeling it creates matches the books quite well. Also, the movie version is absolutley iconic and has become a symbol for the franchise. I really hope they do not chage it!
I disagree, I really want another style alltogether. I love the OG franchise, if they take parts from it and paste it in the new series, it would be weird, like you don't know what's part of what anymore. I want two drastically different universes so one doesn't bleed out in the other. It would be less confusing. (for example, a more roman architecture, less gothic, or even a more modern castle, kind of like the azkaban tower in the third movie)
I like the movies castle, but if they are going for more book accuracy, i'd like to see them make a completely new castle that is more book accurate, as the movie version is super different. Like having the entrance hall actually connect to the grounds and the grounds and lake being enclosed, instead of the movies where it's all wide and open. I would love that, but i know people will disagree with me
I honestly hope they do a hard reset and totally redesign the castle in a way that we haven’t seen before. This is because as much as I enjoyed the film’s interpretation, I feel that the reboot series should be easily distinguishable from from the films, and a big part of that means abandoning the castle design popularized by said films. Also, a redesign would give the creative team a chance to properly plan out a version of the castle that consistently makes sense for the various story beats that occur throughout the books without making changes after the release of certain seasons.
Am I the only one really hoping for a whole new redesign? That's the whole point of a reboot for me, giving a new creator free reign to interpret the characters and settings as they imagined when reading the books. If they keep the castle the same, it's no longer a creative endeavour but just brand advancement (which, of course, is what it is for WB).
I just hope the reboot has enough courage to just let the wizards have their unique and extravagant fashion styles (which was always a big thing in the books) and is much more consistent with its cinematography and is not afraid to use brighter colours. Because after the 2nd movie, the drastic changes in the colour pallette/tone/lightning and making the wizards wear boring, modern muggle clothes (these things were even worse in the FB movies tbh) made the movies feel quite disjointed and took away a lot of the warmth, mystery, magic and wonder of Hogwarts and the wizarding world that was established in the first two movies. The overly dark/gray/cold colour palettes made Hogwarts feel basically just a generic gray building in the later films. If only they were more faithful to the established style of the franchise after the 2nd movie, it would´ve made the eventual shift to the darker world feel much more satisfying and consistent.
@@jwahoski6248 Yeah I always felt the first two movies gave the wizarding world more magical feeling, and were more faithful to the books... And ever-changing cinematography aside, the aesthetics of the later movies, and especially the FB franchise, also suffered from a particular world building problem I´ve come across again and again in fictional works. Hollywood often makes things generic so the audiences aren´t annoyed, but if your story is about wizards who have been living hidden from muggles for centuries and are in many ways still stuck in the Middle Ages and often look down upon muggles, why would you then make your wizards wear jeans and suits just like muggles?
I don't think the teaser trailer is much of an indication, as it was cobbled together from pre-existing assets just to let people know the show is on the way. But I agree that they will probably keep the general look from the movies, simply because they want to match the castles they've built in the theme parks. That said, I could enjoy seeing a fresh interpretation, e.g. a castle that is much more gothic and spooky, or a castle that is ivy-covered and sprawled over a wider area.
Gosh, I sure hope they do a completely new design that has no inspirations from the movie design. As iconic as it is, that design is woefully inaccurate to the descriptions of where things are located in the book. Just off the top of my head, the main doors/front doors are supposed to open directly onto the grounds and they should lead into the entrance hall with the Great Hall directly to one of the sides (I'm struggling to remember if it is right or left.) However, in the movie, the doors that lead into the entrance hall and then the Great Hall open up into that courtyard that is precariously located on a cliff looking over the lake. Really the whole castle is turned the wrong way in the movies, with the front of the castle on the cliff and the back leading down to the grounds and forest, but it the book it should really be the front of the castle looking out over the grounds and forest and the rear facing the lake.
I do hope they won't change too much of the movie castle. I'd love to see a mix of the earlier versions and the halfblood prince one (one that makes sense and doesn't have to change throughout the series, of course-they have all of the source material, so no excuses this time). I also hope that, whomever they get to compose the soundtrack creates something that is reminiscent of what Williams, Doyle, Hooper and Desplat (and Howard) wrote for the movies (and I think they will just **have** to use Hedwig's Theme). It'd be amazing if they even got Williams to write one or two main themes (with series it's often the case that one composer writes a main theme and another writes the rest of the soundtrack, e.g. because the first composer is busy or too expensive). The soundtracks of series tend to be a lot more inconspicuous than that of films, anyways. I personally think rebooting HP already is a mistake, so I'm not really looking forward to the series. But I still hope they'll do a good job at adapting the books and don't try and make it too political as is the case a bit too often nowadays in my opinion (don't make someone gay or black just so you can say you did it. Do representation properly like Netflix's Sex Education for example). Everything should still make sense and be related to the books. It'll be super weird to see a different cast playing Harry, Ron, Hermione, Slughorn, the twins; but it's only fair to give them a chance (and I really hope the children playing the main characters won't get bullied or something.. that would be entirely unfair regardless of the quality of the series)
Agree with you! Totally agree! And one more thing I wanna say about soundtrack that I like the most theme of "Double Trouble". Williams made amazing pieces of it. "Double Trouble" tunes has something special in third film. So I'd be really happy to hear it in reboot.
I don't think they'll change the design of Hogwarts castle in the series. The movies Hogwarts is too iconic and memorable, it became the main design that people think of when talking about Hogwarts. Especially when in the Universal theme park and the studio exhibition display Hogwarts in the movies version. What I think about this actually is, instead of keep changing the details in every one to two seasons like the movies, they will stick with only one design of Hogwarts castle throughout the series. Now, the real question is, what design of Hogwarts the series's production team will use in the series? The Half-Blood Prince version like the display in the studio exhibition, or the Deathly Hallows version which they used for the final Harry Potter film and the second and third Fantastic Beasts film. Or, it would be nice if they use the Hogwarts Legacy version of the castle, because it isn't totally different from the movies Hogwarts, yet has more details and extension that the movies Hogwarts didn't have as well.
I imagine they will redesign it. Probably will be inspired by aspects of a movie look but having a new TV Hogwarts will mean a ton of new merchandise they can sell. I can also see this being the case for the rest of the world as well, I imagine everything will have a new spin on theirs designs. A new series equals a new world of merchandising opportunities in their eyes.
Hi! Would you ever make a video on the changes of the Quidditch Pitch throughout the films? With the new Quidditch Champions game coming out and having tweaked the pitch for the game. I am curious for your thoughts and opinions :)
They’re absolutely going to change the castle. As well as the visuals of everything else. The new creative team will want to put their own spin on things, and more importantly the lawyers will insist the new versions are “legally distinct” from the old ones. Nothing is too iconic to be redesigned in a reboot: the batsuit, the starship Enterprise, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, etc. And I suspect the show won’t be any closer to the books’ designs than the films were. If anything they’ll be further away because they _need_ to be different than what came before. The Raimi Spider-Man films had very Lee/Ditko/Romita comics-accurate takes on Jameson and Aunt May, meaning the Webb and Watts movies had to change both. Ditto with the Hellboy reboot and Professor Bruttenholm. Comics at least have the excuse of different artists and retellings over the decades, but I suspect there will be a lot of disappointed movie fans when the series starts releasing production photos.
The marketing materials and teaser trailer feature the deathly hallows version of the castle, as well as the movie music. I'm not sure how I feel about it.
I do think Warner Bros are panicking at the failure of Fantastic Beasts - but they must know that fracturing their biggest IP by remaking the original series is a lose-lose for the Harry Potter brand. A new series around Marauders era Hogwarts (or Cursed Child) just seems more likely. Like you said, this Hogwarts design has been so invested in outside of the films - it's impossible to change it now.
Yep I agree. A reboot doesn´t make any sense. (Werner Bros would definitely make a lot of money). But a series about a new theme would be great because it would be quite easy the accept the new actors. In my opinion at least.🙃🙃
I think a lot of fans want to see the HP books retold in an extended TV series, because they'd get to see a lot of things the movies left out or changed, and also just get to spend a lot more time in the world of that story. Also, it would be interesting to see a new interpretation.
I remember that the "real" castle should had been even bigger then the one we saw in the movies cause originally in the books Hogwarts had more students then in the movies... for example the great hall should've been gigantic and both in the movies and the games the great hall is veeeery small..

I have a feeling the interior of the castle will be a new interpretation because they'll have to build their own new sets for it. I'm really intrigued to see how they approach the exterior though, I have a feeling it'll be a similar silhouette but with new changes and additions, kinda like the video game was.
In my opinion for a complete reboot they have to design a new castle. It doesn't make sense keep the old assets because they will bring back nostalgia for so iconic scene and scenario. Of course film's Hogwarts is the most popular raprasantation of the castle but I can't immagine other reasons at this point to make a new reboot of harry potter without changing the fourth main character of the story
I think this is the problem with trying to make a new version of HP. The world it has created is so big and recognisable you won't be able to replace it. The wizard world locations and the studio tour are still massively popular, so to try and create a new 'real' (as in not a video game or illustration) castle to replace them is just ridiculous. I think the appropriate way to remake the series would have been an animated version, as it can distance itself from the original films far better, in actor comparison, set design and general style.
