I have a suggestion for you - tailor's clapper. I am a sewist for more years than you've been alive (by probably several years LOL) and one of my favorite tools over that time has been the tailor's clapper. When used after pressing, the same way you were using your hands during the video, it holds the fabric FLAT and CRISP. I have used it with all kinds of textiles - even cork - with lots of success. Your creativity has offered me so much, I hope to give back with a bit of technical advice, Thank you for making this box with your own flair - that pink cork is great!
Hi Nicole. Just rewatched this. Love how your bag turned out. Totally agree on the last two rivets you added; I did it too. How you added bottom was interesting. Thanks for sharing your talent. Happy New Year!🎆💕
Nicole - your bag is absolutely stunning. I love the pink cork and how you've done the strap connectors. Also the way you turn it out through the lining and then sew that shut through the pocket - wonderful ideas. Thank you so much.
Juki junkies has a great video for how to adjust your bobbin for the TL series machines and if you buy an extra bobbin case you can leave your other one alone and just set up the new one for the lighter fabrics, that way all you have to do is swap your bobbin case and presto you are all set to go, this was one of their helpful idea's. Love seeing the videos you put out, super helpful especially where you have the same machine as I do, its a great way to see how it will respond to different materials and items sewn. Hope that helps, happy sewing and thanks again for sharing.
Thanks for the tip on the Mod Podge. Never would have thought of it. It behaves exactly like Giardini Base Coat Dense and is way cheaper and more readily available. I used my edge roller and it has to be cleaned immediately after using. I didn't do that so I had to use an awl to scratch out the grooves. I'm a happy camper today thanks to your tip!
Love your changes....I am going to try this method before diving into Lauren fabric...will send pics if it comes out!! Thank you for sharing your knowledge!!!....See you in Raleigh in 3 weeks!!!!
I enjoyed watching you sew The One. It was different from the other videos with the changes you made. You show how to be creative and blend your mediums to a pattern. Beautiful handbag.
Love your version and especially how you help with the process of sewing with WPC. I'm not comfortable with it either and appreciate your Information!! 💙🥰
Thank you, Nicole, for this one. I have the same Juki as you do, and I appreciated your comments on the stitching and tension. I have never used either WRC or WPC so it will be new to me as well. I loved the addition of cork to this bag, and I really need to get into the rivet game. Another big plus (and a genius hack for me) is the way you made your machine with a free arm. It had never entered my mind to do this(duh) and is always one of the things I miss about my other machines. Thanks again.
Love your personal touches and my brain does the same! Hahaha you're not alone! I love the process and thanks for helping us visual learners. My box is supposed to arrive Wednesday 🤩🥳
Interesting about your tension issue. I sew with a lot of wpc and I haven't had that issue with my 2200qvp mini. I was having that issue a lot with my Brother. Could be bobbin tension. I've noticed that my thread choice can affect it as well. My Juki is picky about thread! Love your videos. Thanks for posting!
This was great!! I love the divided front slip pocket you did!! I am going to try that on one of the bags I create from this pattern. 😆 Hope you are still enjoying your vacation!!
Enjoyable video as always. Love your hair color by the way too. I haven't worked with waterproof canvas, waxed canvas I have and I like it well enough, but I think I will stick to the cork and waxed canvas. Thank you for the detailed instructions. Great job!!
Love the bag with the front pocket 🤩Oh i went down the rabbithole messed with bobbincase tension and could not fix it..sooo i bought a towa tension guage on ebay, and now i have dedicated bobbincases for each thread like tex and nylon or poly since they glide diffrent through the bobbincase, so only top tension is adjusted if i need...
The tension adjustment that you need to make is right in front of you. Turn the screw to the right. But you can check this out by sewing on the same fabric with heavier thread in the top. Try 60 series first then go to 90 weight and do not make an adjustment on the upper thread tensioning and see if this corrects the problem. If this is so tighten the upper thread adjustment screw in half turn increments.
I would LOVE to try & make this, the box is perfect, especially as i am totally new to sewing. The shipping fees to the UK are crippling and make it unaffordable 😢
After watching further in the video I see it’s the lower (bobbin) adjustment that needs adjustment. Just tighten the tiny screw on the bobbin in 1/4 turn increments.

Thanks for the info, I’ll look into one!
@@SewGnar Before I got my clapper I used a wooden cutting board. :)
Before I got one, I used a wood block from grandkids toy box! Any hardwood works
Just started using a clapper in bag-making…amazingly helpful!
I was thinking the same thing .... clapper works great.
Your tutorials are always wonderful to watch and very informative. Thank you xx
Glad you enjoy them!

I wouldn’t use it in place of base coat if I were adding color but it’s great for items that just need a clear coat!
Thank you for sharing. Awesome video.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I like your variation by adding the pink cork. Nice touch. Really appreciate all the tips.
❤️
I think you are great with explaining why you do it the way you do etc. I love watching you and I hope you continue doing tutorials for a long time!
Thanks, Nicole I was waiting on you. I just knew you would put a twist to it using cork. Two thumbs up girl! 👍🏼👍🏼
PS love the pink cork!
❤️❤️
Really enjoyed the video, it's actually really helpful to see how you worked through certain things. Thank you, love the changes.
Love your changes / additions to this amazing bag! That divided slip pocket is genius, can’t wait to try it.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I also do my straps like that. I started experimenting with leather cement on cork.
Love your changes....I am going to try this method before diving into Lauren fabric...will send pics if it comes out!!

I might not be able to make raleigh but if I can I’ll be there!

Lol yes! Free arm via templates works everytime!
Awesome job. I love how you add your touches with the cork and all. Love watching you sew.
Thank you!

Going great so far! ❤️
I love your changes on the pattern!! The cork looks so beautiful! My box is being shipped! Happy Dance!! Take Care ❤️ Sandy
Ahh yay! Happy sewing!
Awesome video. Love the project. 😍😍😍
Great version.
Love watching you work ❤️

good job. loved your changes
Great tutorial, love your modification!
Your hair is so cute!
Love it Nicole ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Gorgeous bag, looking forward to receiving my box, although we have post office strikes in the uk, so not sure if that will delay it xx
Love your glasses!!
Thank you!
Great job love it
Thanks!
Fun stitchout. Thanks.

I really like your videos and your finished goods.
Great video!
Loved this !! I will patiently wait for a new pattern from SewGnar, the “Triple Pocket” handbag ! 😊 Fantastic video
I would LOVE to try & make this, the box is perfect, especially as i am totally new to sewing. The shipping fees to the UK are crippling and make it unaffordable 😢
Oh no, that’s a bummer!! I’m sorry 😞 have you emailed Lauren to see if they could maybe repackage it to lower the fee or something along those lines?
@SewGnar No, I haven't. The Shipping costs I think are just calculated by where it's coming to, it's over $50 just for that
@SewGnar Ive just mailed, Lauren fingers crossed 🤞
Okay I like the cost point with the Mod Podge but have you thought to mix it with paint to match the cork color?
I haven’t because I have edge coat, but give it a go! It won’t build up the edge like edge coat will but it may add some color.
Please can you tell me what weight waterproof canvas you use .. I’m asking everyone in the business xx
I don’t usually use WPC, but if you check the info on Lauren’s website I’m sure that info is available!
After watching further in the video I see it’s the lower (bobbin) adjustment that needs adjustment. Just tighten the tiny screw on the bobbin in 1/4 turn increments.
I ended up doing that and it worked great!
I am having problems with your website
…that’s pretty vague. Can you be more specific?
