Hi, I have my darling Scarlett who is a Chiweeni.. she is 8 years old.. My sister in law delivered my new puppy on 12/29.. a beautiful Havenese I named her Ruby Maybelline and it has helped listening to your you tube videos … 1: Scarlett gets along with my ex husband’s dog , who is a Shitzu and a 3 year old boy.. I keep him at least 3 weekends a month.. My sister in law also brought her new puppy from the same litter, Hazel.. The 2 sister puppies slept in the playpen I purchased, ran around and jumped , played in my backyard, went to a BBQ at my ex’s apartment together.. My sister in law , husband , daughter and Puppy Hazel left and there was a teary good bye at separating the sister puppies. That was at 5:00 am and now every time I go to the laundry room on the other side of the house, my puppy backs and howls from her playpen in my room.. I come back and she stops.. she seems so upset and Scarlett sits in her bed just mixed up…. Scarlett just lays in her doggie bed in the room with us and she looks sad .. Do you think these two breeds will after a while, be friends? Scarlett is a darling doggy I have never seen her sad or not interact with another doggie.. I appreciate all your advice and I’ve taken every bit of it to heart and I’ve ordered some of the things you recommended , including the doggie with the heartbeat. I put my puppy., Ruby Maybelline in the beautiful baby carriage that I bought for Scarlett when she was 8 weeks old. It is like a crib, and I took her in the kitchen while I cleaned the kitchen and I talked to her and I told her I’m cleaning the kitchen and I gave her a little box to play with and now she’s sleeping..❤💥 Ana Sophia
My next door neighbor feeds stray cats in the neighborhood about 3 of them and she has a cat of her own. Often times the strays will sit on my back porch to get sun in the mornings/afternoons. Is it safe for a puppy to socialize with stray cats? How do I manage this interaction because the puppy will be using the backyard/ porch to go out to potty and play.
Any small "training treat"! We usually go with bacon or chicken flavor - sometimes beef flavor upsets P's stomach. My absolute favorite brand is Pet Botanics Training Reward Dog Treats, but they're hard to find in store where I live. So we usually get Buddy Biscuits Training Bites instead.
@@backtobreeality thanks so much!! I’m getting my first havanese puppy in a month and just stumbled on your videos. They’re making me feel so much more prepared and confident! Thank you so much! Would looooove your input on potty training a havanese.
@@smittenkitten44 I’m so glad to hear that! I should consider doing a video on potty training sometime. It’s such a different process per dog though. For context, Pistachio wasn’t 100% potty trained until she was 10 months old. But you usually do get to a place before that where they’re only having one accident every now and then as they figure it out.
Thank you for video, I am wondering how can I take the puppy (before full vaccination) in a carrier for long enough without putting him down to pee, any tips for peeing outside while being safe before full vaccination? Thank you
We had this same problem when transporting our baby Pistachio home when we picked her up from the airport. We had a 6 hours drive back to our house. Honestly, you’re limited on options sometimes. We just stopped at rest stops, found the least populated strips of grass, and encouraged her to potty there. Just keep a leash on and don’t let them investigate any animal droppings or trash, and don’t let them lick any puddles. That’s about the best you can do, and it’s probably enough. The risk of catching a disease in that unvaccinated window is low - just avoid contaminated areas as much as possible and your baby will probably be just fine!
